I drove from Dublin do through Interlakken and Lauterbrunnen and will never forget the scenary, especially when we took the chairlift into the mountains...
Awesome and informative video. Thank you Dennis. Hats off to the Swiss, they are blessed with God gifted nature, and they know how to reserve it, make it all accessible to the world
Stay in Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald or Interlaken, and you are minutes away from all the attractions, not in Berne or Zurich, because this cities are an hour, to one and a half hour away. Cheers.
No high speed trains to Lauterbrunnen, maybe to Interlaken, you change trains there to Lauterbrunnen, about 20 minutes with local trains from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen. Best wishes.
Let's face it. The Swiss people (of German, French and Italian extract) are a people of industry and thrift. It was most fitting, therefore, that they become the custodians and caretakers of this most beautiful piece of landscape, a land en...dowed by G-d with some of the most breathtaking and spectacular natural scenic beauty on earth! The Swiss people have built complementary mountain chalets and railroad cars and mountain lifts, with trim roads and mountain trails for, both, hikers and bikers. No other people on earth could have done it better!
This video was so helpful! I'm currently planning a trip for this May and I have a list of places; Interlaken, Murren, Grinderwald, Lauterbrunnen and Jungfrau , but I was really confused as to how to get around to each place and how far each of them were. This cleared up so much! Thanks a lot!!
I'm glad the videos help you plan -- take a look at two of my playlists about Switzerland for more travel tips and pure entertainment with beautiful Swiss scenery of town and mountain: bit.ly/2naLlGe and bit.ly/2mdurTo
We bought the Swiss Pass (first class) for 2 weeks, very helpful on main train trips. Then you purchase lift tickets at the station, showing the pass, when going up the various mountains, getting a discount on those rack rails and cable cars.
Nice video of a beautiful area! But Dennis, you really need to get the help of a native speaker with your pronunciation of the place names. Many were pronounced incorrectly.
If i stay in Interlake, and spend the day up the mountain and want to go directly to Lucerne on the train after that, what do i do with my luggage? Are there lockers at Interlake train station? Which way is best to avoid backtracking and time wasting so I don't get to Lucerne in the dark?
+soniarose1983 Leave your luggage at your hotel -- they can store it after you check out. It is possible to get to Lucerne in daylight if you start the mountain trip first thing in the morning, which is smart anyway for best chance of clear weather. The train ride to Lucerne is very scenic -- you want daylight for that.
+cosmore cunningham If you want the Lauterbrunnen area, the biggest hotel choices, shops and restaurants are in Interlaken. You can do easy day-trips to mountain-tops, and to Bern.

denniscallan Do you mind if I ask, did you get a travel pass for the trains? Or did you have to buy a ticket each time you hopped on?

Tolkien's inspiration for the Valley of Rivendell
What time of year did you record this? August? Thanks :)
+Mary Abele It was in late May, an ideal time because snow has melted off the trails, so you can walk, and yet it's not too crowded yet.
It's nice to see no kids running around with their pants hanging down...
🤔 🙋♂️ 🤝
High speed trains to reach Lautherbrunnen?
Diego Augusto Cerda for an American that is a high speed train.

where have all their garbage gone?
+felipe shih It's Switzerland!! One of the cleanest countries -- no graffiti either. They also do a lot of recycling.
