Can this generator be connected to a bulk fuel tank supply (tank that supplies fuel for the motors on our commercial hire/drive houseboat)?? Being a commercial operation, we cant have customers refuelling generators when the boat is out on hire. We are wanting to replace a Honda EU65is generator that could connect to our bulk fuel supply.
Hi Scott, Just bought this same model. You said in the video you used fully synthetic oil wondering what brand your using and grade as you have clocked a few hours on the generator by the comments. Is the Maxwatt still going strong. Cheers
Great review keep them coming. I live offgrid in nsw. Been using a 3.6 kva inverter generator I bought from Aldi 2 years ago (have only used it about 35 hours per year) anyway looking to get bigger generator and was looking at this one (or the 13kva) but like you said your meant to get a bigger generator than your loads/inverter Do you find this one hunts under increased load? How does it handle someone turning on the water pump while the oven is on? Anyway keep up the vids, good to see local experience on the tubes.
35 hours a year... thats pretty damn good. Im trying to get to something like that.. maybe one day. Nah this inverter handles increased load well. Heaps better than the 9000as did. haven't seen an issue but I do try and limit what is running if we have to move over to the generator
Hi, Thanks for the Video. Would you say it would power a small 1 bedroom house (normal appliances, fridge freezer, washing machine etc) and a air condition? Thanks.
Yes it would. I run a full family of 5 multiple fridges TV's etc. but i can either choose to have the aircon on or the hot water as both pull about 3.5kw
Maybe looking at the idle consumption of the inverter that you are just using as a charge controler. Would it ve worth it to turn off at night? There is a saying it not what you make, it is what you keep. I do not keep up the MPP Solar inverters. But one if the newer ones has close to 100 watts idle consumption. Could you run on one inverter at night? Turning off just one inverter over night could add up to an hour of generator run time very quickly. It is just not the wear on the generator it is also oil change time(time getting gas), gas, etc. It all adds up. Apply the its not what you make, it what what you keep to all parts of your life. Living off grid is why you are doing all this, is it not? This is longer than I expected to go, but keep up the good work. You never know where it go. Fruit trees us something I want to do when we get some land after this down turn before things get real bad.
You make a good point, The 4th inverter which is just a charge controller does turn off at night because I dont have power output enabled so it switches off when the solar stops. But the other 3 inverters I could get away with only 1 running at night time to maintain power. To be honest I never really thought about doing that before. Thanks for the idea, will see if the system likes doing that in a parallel setup. Exactly the reason I started the channel to get ideas and feedback from others. Thanks again for your comment!!
Hey Scott I like what you're doing mate well done. I about to purchase a Maxwatt MX8000IS for backup power at my property. When watching your video it had around 11hours running time so quite new. Are you still happy with the performance? Best Stewart
I was just thinking of doing an update video on this generator too. Will need to double check but its getting close to 400 hours now and still like the day I bought it, been fantastic. I under estimated how much I would need the generator for the winter just wish I had bought this maxwatt inverter first . Its pretty much been sitting idle for the last 3 months though
@@scottnogrid6842 thanks for the update, it makes me feel that I have made the right decision. I ordered from and paid Total Tools online but then got a call to say it is not available until late Jan. Hopefully it doesn’t blow out any further.
Gday scott. I’ve been looking at this unit to replace my eu30is which has just suffered inverter failure. How’s the gen holding up and how many hours have you got on it now? We live off grid in Vic and require a reliable unit to charge our batteries in winter. Keen to hear how your going with this unit as I can’t find much about them online. Cheers, Mark
Yeah there is almost nothing online, but given the price I was happy to give it a shot, even the 9000AS with its issues which I could have avoided has done a fantastic job. The 8000IS Generator has been going well so far, it is now at 77 hours, done a couple of solid 8+ hour runs over the last few days, I got 5KWh of solar yesterday. I have all the inverters connected to the 32amp plug now, it is insanely quiet, most the time forget when its on. it doesn't even seam to struggle when maxing out, the 9000AS would really bog down it max output, the voltage is more consistent at higher output too than the 9000AS used previously. Only negative which is really nothing but is the fuel gauge on top seams to have got condensation under it, the generator is undercover but these -5 degree misty foggy wet mornings might be taking its toll.
@@scottnogrid6842 thanks mate. Great to hear. The condensation issue is a bit annoying..if that is the worst of the issues so far then it’s not bad at all. I’m seriously considering purchasing this week as I cannot afford the eu70is!
@@onthemark3480 yeah the eu70is was out of my budget as well, I did have a eu50is originally until it completely crapped out. the maxwatt generators I personally think is a pretty safe bet, 2 year warranty and as long as its maintained and correct use there shouldn't be an issue, if there is while always annoying no matter which product or company there is the warranty to fall back on if there is issues.
Hi Scott, I am also following this as I will soon be putting together an off grid system. Considering buying thru TotalTools so that warranty is on them. Please give an update if anything goes wrong, cheers!
