I had a 74 VR 250 replica. great handling and powerful but fragile. Switched to Bultaco and then Husqvarna. I should have kept it just because it was so lovely.

Had an older used Rickman Zundapp 125 in the early 80's, pure bliss until the gears inside shattered and I had to pass it on. Never owned anything I loved more!

New viewer to your videos, good to see a younger person who enjoys the vintage bike scene. I do have a Rickman 125 Zundap in my bike stash which is fun to ride and good looking but not a racer. I definitely have a soft spot for Euro bikes also, Maico, CZ, Husky, fun channel keep up the good work.

Very cool to see the Rickman Montesa. I was a 9th grader living in El Paso in 1973. Dad and I went to a local Triumph BSA Hodaka Rickman shop to look around. The Rickman ISDT Zundapp and Montesa MX were parked right next to what dad bought, the Hodaka 125 Wombat for $640. Man I lusted after that Montesa hard and still have the brochure you showed in your video. Out in the desert I'd see them running around with guys on Huskys and TM400s. Unfortunately though, the Honda Elsinore 250 was introduced in '73 and it changed pretty much everything. In the end I did get into Montesa in the '90s with a '70 and '72 247 and a Rathmell 348 Cota I used in AHRMA trials. Viva Montesa!

I raced a 125cc Zundapp Metisse at an MX in Placerville for a dealer in 1970 to test it and give an opinion. Typical, it missed a lot of shifts. I normally raced a 250cc CZ and won often.

Mated the mono-block carbs on the old Greeves. Nothing but trouble. Put a Mikuni on a Greeves Challenger and it starts and runs great without ever loading up.

In 1973 my dad and a buddy of his grafted a Yamaha 250 MX engine in the Rickman frame and voila! A Rickmaha was born. That bike was wicked. They also developed a rudimentary flex bar. For that bike. Just found your channel keep up the good work.

The Amal carb is spanish because Spanish bikes were required to be sold with all spanish parts back in the day. Amal licensed them to Montessa so they could build them in Spain. Or so the story goes...

I am surprised that I've not seen one before. We had one of the very few Montesa dealers here in Upper Appalachia (SE Ohio) back in the60s and 70s. The Rickmans I recall from that era had Zundapp engines. That dealer also handled Moto Beta.

I had that same bike in the 70s and had a blast on it!. Bought it new- it had a different pipe on it that was lower down and looked more like an expansion chamber and it had a stinger on the end- may have had to do with WA state regulations for off road, everything else looks the same including the naugahide clutch and break lever shrouds
