    Just a point worth mentioning - when using stick n stitch, always wash and dry your fabric before you begin. This avoids the problem of shrinkage.

      Depends on your drawing skills! My drawing skills are quite low so for more complicated designs, printing it on a dissolve sheet is worth the effort

    If you’re doing this on like a T-shirt do you still need a stabilizer on the back or does the stick n stitch act as the stabilizer?

    the stick and stitch is interesting, does it come in black fabric

    • @Penguinandfish
      @Penguinandfish  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, but it doesn't need to be. You stitch right through it and then it dissolves in water. So you can use a dark fabric or any other fabric that's hard to trace that's ok if it gets wet.

    one other tip you can also use a soft toothbrush to brush it off in the water i do it and it works as well and really get the stick off from between the stitches .

    This video was great ! Thank you for sharing❣️ your little kit’s are perfect , but for a beginner kit I would add a option maybe of the little scissors , a needle threader , a chart of different needles sizes and uses, the Faber solve for transfer Or a washable Pen , Just for the tools of a beginner I would think, oh if you had a deferent sizes of needles , a cool tool for needles are a vial to keep them in 😊

    you ask what would I like in a bundle. I would love something a bit more modern and racy. I was never interested in embroidery, always thought of it as an old fashioned craft, even though im crafty and make a lot of my own products. But a few years ago I got interested but yet have done anything except buy thread and needles. And what got me interested was an embroidered pillowcase a saw of a women's naked curves from upper thigh to mid waist with her female "part" being covered with a burst of flowers. Iv been intrigued ever since would love to do something of this sort. Sure im not alone in this

    • @EmbroideryArtbyNat

      If you don't have a printer you can transfer the pattern by hand using the light from your window or some lamp, it's pretty transparent and you can see the lines through it.

    Love your work Alyssa- you make it look so easy and fun! I echo what others have said about needle size primer (I know I have needles that I certainly don't know what size they are or what their purpose is). Not that you want too many options but maybe a "build your own kit" where people can add the variety of items they want? That would also let you be flexible with patterns, people have lots of different tastes with that and some might want a hoop and others a tea towel? Can't wait to see what you come up with- no doubt it will be adorable! And I am reminded i have the hedgehog somewhere and MUST work on him!!! Best wishes!

    • @Penguinandfish

      Usually it is recommended to use 100% cotton. I have also heard back from an embroiderer in South America who uses Panama cotton cloth. It looked like a heavier cloth. I would like to know what kind of cloth specifically she is using, too! Hope this helps. Also, I just read where she commented on someone else’s reply that she likes cotton muslin.

      Hi, Sin. I'm using a cotton muslin fabric. It's a woven fabric like what clothing makers use to test their designs. You can also use a quilting-weight fabric which is a high-quality woven fabric that sewers use to make quilts out of.

Perhaps a little pattern and directions, a Sulky sheet to try? I will like anything and everything you put together :) You could possibly do a basic kit and a deluxe kit - something for everyone? I would put in a good sized piece of backing fabric, 2 or 3 different small designs, a regular embroidery needle and a milliners needle, a stitch key for each pattern with simple instructions for the stitches used, and a small bundle of floss. Keep it inexpensive so newbies aren't afraid to lay out a lot of money only to find out that embroidery is not for them.

    I have used stick and stitch. I find that the needle gets sticky and needs to be wiped off every few stitches. It is water soluble, so it isn't difficult, just annoying. Also, the more times the floss passes through the glue backing, the more fuzzy it gets.

    What if you are using this on a back pack you can’t soak in water. Can you use a wet cloth to dissolve it.

    • @Penguinandfish
      @Penguinandfish  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Tana. If you're using a fabric that you can't get wet, I would use a tear-away product. Stabilizers are categorized pretty much by how they go on and how they come off. I would look for one that you can hand baste to your backpack (so you'd want one that doesn't iron or stick on), and that you can tear off. It's finicky tearing the stabilizer off but with a fabric that you don't want to get wet, iron, and can't trace through, I think a tear away stabilizer is the way to go.

    A simple (not cartoonish) (maybe a sweet flower) pattern with a little bit of sulky to try. What needle with what thread and on what fabric. Like muslin, quilting cotton etc. Hoop (4" - 6"), needle threader, 3-4 different size needles, ten basic beginners stitches to work on pattern(s). Does transferring to sulky require an ink jet printer?

Like your designs as they are simple with basic stitches yet so very elegant..am specially swayed by all your animals. Will get your cats when the kits are at Joann's - among others of course! I'm so happy I found your channel. Your video was so enjoyable to watch and really thorough. I had never heard of the stick and stitch product before. Very fun! Thank you.

    Thanks for video. I am an artist and fortunate enough to have the ability to draw freehand and embroider over my designs. I came across your video and was fascinated indeed. Your other videos where you organized your floss was the first one that attracted me because it reminded me of what I do-LOL! I love making "paint boxes" with my floss, too!🎨Much continued success!

    Thank you! I just started embroidery a few weeks ago and came across your video this morning and what a video to wake up to!! You just made transferring so much easier for me, I have been really struggling with that part of it and trying to figure out and "easier way" and you provided it. Have a great day, Alyssa!

    I need to know how to get a embroidery pattern onto denim.

      I would recommend using Sulky's Stick'n Stitch, where you print on the pattern, then it washes away in water. Here's a link on my website if you're interested. www.penguinandfish.com/products/stitch/sulky-stickn-stitch-formerly-sticky-fabri-solvy-embroidery-stabilizer

    How can I get a pattern to the picture behind you,, and thr 2 birds with the tea cup? Lovr your designs and trying to collect as many as I can afford. Love your shows, and how you teach us what to do and the reasons for doing what you teach.

    A small pair of scissors, a pack of embroidery needles, a needle threader, a pin cushion for threaded needles, a six inch clear ruler with a magnifier down the center of the ruler, a transfer pen/pencil, a leather thimble because it fits most sizes, a small simple pattern like a flower or the sun with rays, and a small suggestion booklet suggesting type of fabric, thread, colors and/or uses, a 4-6 inch hoop and a short list of web sites where other patterns or information can be found.
