  • In this tutorial, I show you how to design a professional flyer using the latest version of GIMP. I show you how to erase an image background, how to use the new blend tool and vignette tool, how to edit your image to blend it in with your composition, and how to add background effects like paint splatter and laser lights.

    I tried to go through this tutorial about half a year ago, but I didn't manage to go through it, it was too advanced for me. I kept learning and practicing my GIMP skills since then. Now, I tried to do it again, and I managed to follow through till the end, and to replicate the flyer. Perseverance and consistency can get you a long way in life. Keep it up guys!

    This is impressive, when our web design class teacher said we had to use Gimp for our project i was sad at first because i was so used to Photoshop. Now i see what you can do with Gimp, it's amazing. This tutorial is a great example for my deadline.

      Glad this tutorial helped you out! Yeah, GIMP has some great functionality and it's going to get better with the next releases coming out (2.10, 3.0, 3.2). And, of course, the best part is it's free!

    Your tutorials are really helpful with me wanting to build my portfolio as I'm considering a career change. I have a designer background but long story short, it didn't work out at the time due to bullying in the workplace, but I've missed being creative in the workplace. Hopefully, I'll be able to get another shot at this. :)

    Too fast and not very helpful for those using version 2.10.8. Right at the beginning with the foreground/background gradient application isn't the same here as it is on the latest version.

    I'm at the paintbrush part for the splash effects 11:30 in, but the brush keeps drawing on the image instead of just the background . Btw I have made a new paint splatter layer

    Please can somebody help - I can see the layers in the bottom right, but how do you get the different images available at the top? if I copy an image in, it copies on to the image I already have open. thanks

    • @DaviesMediaDesign
      @DaviesMediaDesign  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Go to File>Open to open an image into GIMP. This will bring it into a separate window. Let me know if that helps.

      I'm commenting on this for everyone who sees this video moving forward. His tutorials are fast paced. If you feel overwhelmed trying to follow along, go to the text version of the tutorials. The link is usually in the description.
      A lot of times if you're unfamiliar with Gimp, you will benefit from slowing down and reading. Good luck everyone, and happy editing.

    Far too fast, too complicated, you don't explain why we are going to do things. My Controls are all in different places to the ones on the video. Like so many techy videos on the web, the person making the video needs a lesson in how to be a teacher

    I stop following the instructions because they were not thorough ...right off the back you said the flyer was 8.5 by 5.5 and that is not true the flyer is 5.5 by 8.5 portrait .. you should do this again and slow down so you won't make mistakes and be very clear in the instructions .

      this is what gimp community lacks compared to quick editable psd templates. you cant even buy these anywhere. if these were available, gimp would more readily be adopted by new users

      You may be shrinking too much based on the size of the text. Decrease the amount and it may do the trick
