    Hi, new subscriber. my mother, although crafty, didn't like us messing the house up. I, however, was a mother like yours, as long as there was a vinyl mat and paper over the table my kids could do whatever they liked. I have loads of craft stuff and I would put it out for them to have fun with and it kept them entertained. I did the same with my adopted grandchildren. One day I was using punches, my nearly three grandson was watching. I had to go out to the shop for half an hour and come home to a piece of paper on the fridge with little punched out shapes around the edge of the paper that he had put on the fridge where all their art masterpieces went. They were always very proud of their creations. I'm sorry for your loss, you must miss her very much. I hadn't thought of using Vaseline, will have to get some and try it out.

    Even though it has been a few years, losing your wonderful mother has to be so difficult. It sounds like she was your best friend and had a fun spirit. I am grateful to her for helping you cultivate such amazing artistic talent! I so love watching your videos. Oh Dana is it you with the bad back? People who are without back pain have no idea what it feels like. It’s hard for my husband because I look just fine. I often avoid doing things that make it obvious. In the end it makes me tired and clumsy. I wish I could edit real life like I do my videos lol. This morning it was blueberries all over the floor. My little dog loves them so he cleaned up the floor for me😁💕

    This video just came up in my list, hopefully you’ll still see my comment after all this time. It must be said how very creative you are. My mom loved to make things. She’d go for a walk and come back with drift wood and rocks and turn them into something pretty. Thanks for reminding me of that and how fun it was. I always learn something from you. Love watching your videos, would love to come over and play sometime but unfortunately I’m way down here in the Texas hill country! Thank goodness for TH-cam, at least I can watch! TFS

    Thank you for sharing your memories of your mom with us. My mom is gone also and when I was young she used to do painting with this paint that was in a tube that had tips on them, I can't for the life of remember them name of the, and I believe she actually sold it for a while. A lot of the paintings were on this black felt like material, I remember metallic colors and she did a lot of wild animals, leopards, lions, etc. Thanks for bringing back those memories for me!! I am definitely going to do this....vaseline, who would have thought! I like the foil on top leaving just those hints of gold, so pretty and your cards are gorgeous. Thanks again for sharing...💖💖💖

      Hello. I believe the paint you are referring to is Tri-Chem. My grandmother also sold them and I can’t tell you how many items I still have (even in felt) that need to be painted. Of course the paint tubes are long gone, I still even have some of the tools that were used to help clear the tips. I had to comment when I saw yours because you’re the only other one in this community that I’ve seen that knows about them. Take care. 😎

    • @pamjohnson3784
      @pamjohnson3784 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AmeliasMiMi yes Tri-Chem and I think theire was a brand that started with an A. Artez or something like that! Oh the memories! She had a lazy Susan that the paint tubes stood up in, tip down.

    • @AmeliasMiMi
      @AmeliasMiMi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pamjohnson3784 yes! I was thinking there was a name before it was tri Chem. Was it maybe art chem? That was a minute before my time but my great grandmother used them. I remember my grandmother talking about them. I still kick myself for getting rid of the paint holders. I could have repurposed them into something. And it was within the past five years that I got rid of them. 😫 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
      Oh well, live and learn. But I love the memories they still evoke 🥰 good times. 😇

    Hello, so I found your channel yesterday from an other hop, boy I am so glad that I did. I would come and visit you for tea, and crafting. I too lost my mom 24 years ago from Cancer she was only 58 yrs old, 10 days before her birthday. I feel your pain. I am so sorry for your lost, I am so happy you can use her teaching to teach others. What an amazing gift and legacy to her. Keep doing that. Your story made me think of all the things my mom use to do. I just passed my mom's age (59) in April that was so scary. Sending blessings to you.

    • @SharonLuska
      @SharonLuska  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Moms are incredible people. Thank goodness they make us the strong intelligent women we are. I feel her with me all the time but especially when I’m crafting. Its funny she was a teacher so I think she would be extra excited by my you tube adventure. Cancer is such a terrible thing. I’m sad to think that you not only lost your mom but you have to endure times of fear because of it. It’s something I have never thought about but that sucks. I wish I could give you a big hug right now💕 I believe that our loved ones surround us and watch over us if they’re not with us any more. Your mom probably hasn’t left your side since early this year and wants most of all to comfort you and to let you know she’s right there. I hope I didn’t upset you. I don’t know why I feel so strongly to say this. Sending you a giant hug💕

    I hopped over to your channel from AlliKcreations. I loved her video using this technique. Wow your results from this technique is amazing. I really love that blue and yellow one on the yellow card stock. We have things in common, our moms and a bad back. My mom did everything crafty. She was a seamstress, a quilter, crochet, tole painting, wood work, card maker, scrapbooker, basically everything under the sun. She had a can do attitude when it came to crafts. I am the only girl, I have three brothers, so her and I had so much in common. Like you we would do crafts together when I was a kid (not a lot of money either) and she was good at thinking outside the box. I have carried on her legacy. I miss her so much, I lost her in 2013. I am so sorry how you lost yours. Mine lived a long life, she was 88. I have had back problems for many years. I hurt it in my twenties and has progressively got worse as I get older. I have had numerous procedures and pain management is my home away from home. It’s so debilitating as you probably know. Well I have rambled enough. I am a new subscriber and I’m looking forward to watching your future and past videos.

    Hi Sharon, from Australia! I recently found Katherine Kelly in You Tube and she suggested we go check out your you tube channel. I randomly chose this video to watch first and I loved it! I like videos that share card ideas but am specially drawn to ones that are relaxed and chatty and not too long! Just like this one. It’s nice to get to know the card maker a little as you watch. So sorry you lost your mother in such a difficult way, but it seems she was in inspiration to you and now you get to share that with me! As far as the cards go... they are stunning! It looks like you have to persevere with those inks to get them just right, but they were beautiful backgrounds for your cards. I am a cardmaker on a budget and have resisted getting into alcohol inks (you just can’t do it all, right), but I will still happily watch others using them! Thanks again for sharing. I’ll be watching more! Might even make a coffee and have a binge watch! 💕

    I wish they have a heart as well as a thumbs up. Love all your work! You inspire me and I’m sure so many others! God bless you and your talented mind and spirit! Thank you for sharing you mom with us. She sounded like a wonderful person. Keep sharing stories about her in your art making. It brings joy to us and keeps her in your art making memories. If it’s not to painful for you.

    Thanks so much for your video, I'm just starting out using alcohol inks and struggling to make anything I like the look of!
