The best chemistry is the type that you can eat (without killing you). Also, I think a video on waste disposal in general would be pretty interesting and educational
Not knowing or having the ability to properly dispose of neutralize waste has kept me from a lot of experiments, but that's a good thing. You don't want ppl running around pouring chromates down the sink.
Magic lemons is Poland’s greatest kept secret! Fresh lemonade is one of my favorite things ever, especially on a hot summer day 😊. I’ve always wanted to make pure peppermint oil from peppermint grown in the garden. Maybe a fun project for next year? It grows so fast! Maybe you can find a patch to grow some various mint plants. :)
@@Amateur.Chemistry Yay! I’d love to see that. I’ve always loved minty candy, so that would be really fun. Making some pure menthol crystals would also be fun to see. 😃
Watching your videos is always a good experience. dont try to change the channel. Too many do the videos and stuff that can only be afforded or accquired at what most would see as 'limiting' to average hobbyist chemist. Sure, buy better equipment and better chems and do phd level of reaction/creations and garner ad sponsors, etc (you will as time goes on. i assure you) ... but put that more advanced stuff on another channel.... This Amateur Chemistry channel is amazing in EVERY single way. don't dump us.
I really just cannot believe that someone likes my videos this much :) I will keep things on the channel as they are, I will maybe try to improve the editing and work on my voice a little, but other than that my home chemistry style probably won't change :)
@Amateur Chemistry That polystyrene dissolving in lemon oil reminded me of something: why not turning that nasty plastic into benzoic acid (or even some benzoate of your choice) by doing a pyrolysis of polystyrene to obtain impure styrene which can then be distilled to purify it. After that, it can be reacted with some alkaline potassium permanganate to form a soluble benzoate salt which can be treated with some acid to form almost insoluble benzoic acid.
Thank you for giving me another really cool video idea, I could potentially turn the benzoic acid into benzaldehyde of benzyl chloride and with these I could do even more cool stuff. Also while we are on the topic of styrene - do you know a relatively easy way to turn it into phenylacetylene? I am trying to make some rubrene for DIY glowsticks and there is not much information about this procedure anywhere
@@Amateur.Chemistry I have never heard of phenylacetylene until you mentioned it now. From what I´ve found now it is said that it can be easily made by the reaction of molten sodium or potassium hydroxides with bromostyrene.
Although in this case it works this way, too, it is no steam distillation in the true sense: for this purpose separately generated steam has to be injected into the heated mixture. 🧐 11:44 This hazard symbol doesn't always mean that the substance is carcinogenic. It can also mean other risks for human organs like in the case of hexane. More information can be found in the responding H-theorem. Just replace hexane by heptane - it's less unhealthy. Recipe tip for the cake: using lemon juice instead of lemon oil makes it tast more fruity. 🧑🍳
could you try making methanol from wood and water heated at ~74°C (i think) because i saw this on internet but i'm not sure if it works and it would be cool. apart from that i really like your videos love from france
You gave me flashbacks to my capstone project for my degree, I had to do steam distillation for MONTHS to get enough Limonene to do the polymerization I needed for my product. I did get a great arm workout though 😆
3:32 Lemonene is a solvent that also dissolves the rubber of the balloon, which made it popp - not the force of squirting... 😅 7:05 Do you also wash your feet while still wearing socks?... 🤣
Bruh you diminshed the yoeld to oblivion by merging water with peel , you need to have a level of air between the source of steam and the source of oil to avoid the oil stickin to the primary vessel and wasting away , i also have fallen vicim into this noob trap
Did I just have a stroke or is the sound weird? Your voice sounds like it's coming from a early 2000s voice computer. No diss, this sounds like an encoding error.
I absolutely live your videos. So whatever you want to make a video of, of course I'll watch! P.S. I'm read all the time, so I am pretty fast at it. But the little comments you leave on the screen during a video are not left there long enough for even me to read. 🤓🧐🥸😎😉

I plant to make a video on waste disposal in the future, but I firstly have to get some waste to work with :)

I tried this with rose petals and i had no patience so everything i got was just funny rose smelling water 😂😂. Nice vid 🙌 and waiting for more
The rose scented water is called a hydrosol and is a commercially viable product itself!
