    Great vid! A suggestion for trying to get faster on the descents could be getting yourself down to a pump track, maybe look at some near you e.g. edenbrook etc. I know that it helped me be able to maintain more speed on the turns and gain speed from pumping. Love seeing the progression of your skills even if you get unlucky with mechanicals!

      This has given me the nudge I need… I’m planning on going to edenbrook after work today… I will be able to practice the berms as well and I will have a go on the pump track 👌 Definitely time to start putting in some extra work on my skills 😅

    Super video as always. Bummer with the puncture :/
    I can only recommend an insert for the rear wheel. I’m using Vittorias airliner. That gives a little extra cushion on your Tubelesa setup 💪💪 unless you run inner tubes 🫢🤣

      Thanks mate and yep going to go back tubeless today and potentially try a different tyre 🤔 will have a look into some inserts could be a good shout 👌

      @@GiorgioCoppolaCycling I've used the specialized fast track tire for XC, super fast roling, and ''OK'' grips if it gets wet. But i later opted for schwalbe with a more grippy setup :)

    Pretty good ride on a flat!

    A side effect of going full gas is clouded judgement. The harder and longer you go on the red, the more likely is to screw up one way or another.

    top video George and what an effort you put in with a puncture and not giving up - course looked mega, some nice sections in there, keep on pushing yourself

      Absolutely amazing course and I will definitely be making the trip back next year, it’s worth it just for a weekend away eating cakes 🤷‍♂️😂

    At least you rode mate. I did a test half lap and went home. It was way above my skill level.

    Great vid, well done for keeping going Giorgio. It’s weird you drop your chain a lot. Touch wood, I’ve not had that issue with shimano

    • @GiorgioCoppolaCycling
      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate I think it’s a mixture of not enough finesse down the decent it’s all very bumpy and I back pedal when my feet aren’t in the right place and sram doesn’t like that for some reason 😅

    You did well, soft rear, massive disadvantage.. it’s all lessons learnt

    A huge advantage that elite riders have is they are looking ahead,” down the trail “. You start doing that you’re going to go faster and use less energy during the race!

    • @GiorgioCoppolaCycling
      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep I have watched the videos back of them descending and it’s mind blowing the speed they are going at… they are able to recover as well which I haven’t mastered yet but it’s all a work in progress 😅

  • @PierreAlainMaire

    No excuse for Giorgio, a flat is not enough to stop him in a race 🦾 you didn't loose that much in the descents in the beginning, try to count the distance in seconds. Once it climbs again you were back at them. Your progress is 👍🏻

    • @GiorgioCoppolaCycling
      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It wasn’t huge on the first decent but it all adds up over 6 laps… I have done some analysis of my times vs the fast boys down the hill and it’s a big difference 😅 if I can put some more work into the downhills and keep my fitness it will definitely improve my results but I’m not sure I have time to do both… I may have to lose some fitness to gain some downhill skills

  • @almathol

    Giorgio, an obvious one, but have your checked chain for wear?🤔I recently started dropping chains, checked it over, and it was well worn!! New chain, problem sorted.

    • @GiorgioCoppolaCycling
      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  ปีที่แล้ว

      The chain is fine, I think the problem is 2 things… one I don’t have enough finesse down the descents so it’s all extremely bumpy and the second thing is I backpedal when my feet aren’t in the right position (a habit I need to get rid of 😅) but when I backpedal and hit a bump it tends to come off 👎

    I even put the latex in my tubes, belt and braces. Great vid tho.

      Going to go back tubeless today… might even try a different tyre brand as although schwable are fast they tend to cut up easily 👎
