      Well done! Particularly for newer riders, pumptracks are excellent slack/recovery day riding opportunities, along with flowy, no climbing single track or trails. While true that 'climbing wins races', mastering low effort momentum riding- the when/where/and how of it- will keep you in the fast group until that last lap when all the musclebound stompers either blow on the climb or just go slack in the transitions.

    More XC content... I think people who don't race XC, or watch it really underestimate and underappreciate just how skilled world cup XC racers are and how gnarly the terrain can be that they ride (Especially in mud!!!)

    We don’t get nearly enough xc specific stuff in mtb videos, probably because downhill is more photogenic. In my area (western North Carolina) there are very few actual downhill tracks, and we’re all riding up the hills as well as down them

    I did race XC back in the 90's when events were through parking lots and fields, I almost come to hate mountain bike at the time, then I discovered that the issue wasn't with the sport but more with XC people 😂
    It's a different fauna...

      And they are clearly unreasonably full of themselves... I just can't see how they say xc is more demanding than most other MTB sports when clearly when I watch them they lack the skills and speed top of the cream MTB players have like Goldstone, can't see anyone in xc to beat him in descending ... Just no, they are like 2x slower at least on camera lol

    • @junovivi5037
      @junovivi5037 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@nbodeh4658 I think nowadays tons of XC riders, pro and amateurs do admire what Goldstone and others are doing in DH and learning from them (like Schurter often seen training with enduro riders)
      The physical performance (which is central in XC, like way more than 75% of the result I guess) separates it from the other mtn disciplines and that's the beauty of XC, because it mixes roadies lightweenies bikes and watts obsessions with (recently) the gravity spirit of mtb

      I can't speak to the UK scene, but USA/Canada XC has been much harder core than any of you are giving it credit for. The longstanding classic sites like Mt. Snow, Mt. Saint Anne's, Snowshoe, etc. are famously rugged going. Maybe you all need to get off the infield and lower mountain access road climbs and into those cross slope single track woods, pitches, and ridiculously rugged climbing sections? Oh, and race it for over an hour, rather than the few withering minutes your DH heroes roll along for...as for 'Enduro' or etc., you'll find that many of them began as XC riders who just didn't have the wattage to place, rather than downhillers who decided they like to pedal.
