    As a 14 year old kid. This is my dream bike and I’m 1/5 of the way there. I have been doing hay for a family friend and I’m looking forward to this beautiful bike

    Momentum and correct gear is your friend. Bought a 125x last year and my 300 sits 90% of the time now. Bike is so much FUN! I put an Apex head on is all. Only part that sucks is stopped on a steep hill. Logs, Technical Rocks and slow tech is almost easier the bikes so light. Clutch control and choosing the correct gear. Many try to ride 125s like their big bike a gear high and that just doesn’t work. Looks like some fun tech riding there!

    Great analysis. Thanks! I'll be checking your other vids for sure. You comments are very useful to me as I'm considering getting a 125x with a lectron carb + heavier flywheel. I want to do slow technical stuff (you won't see my fly at 60mph, I don't enjoy straight lines) and a 250X might send me to the hospital at this point in my development, since it's got double the HP I have at my disposal right now. And I've never ridden a 2 stroke before.

      Glad it helped.

      i wouldnt do the heavier flywheel on a 125x. they dont got no ass as it is so it doesnt seem like a good tradeoff to rob power for stall resistance. i have a 125x and you can do really slow stuff without even touching the clutch and ive hardly ever stalled it. some people love the lectron carb though so it seems like you cant go wrong there

    I’m saving for this bike I have a 125 ttr and wanted something new and bigger and more powerful and this sealed the deal with me getting one since I would love to be able to ride hard terrain. Thanks I subscribed as well

      Great! I appreciate the subscription! More content coming as I have a race, WV trip, and trials riding vids all on the hopper! Good luck, and you will love this bike.

    Thanks for the video and the insight into the 125 X. I bought a new 2020 model (pick it up in about two weeks) to build the skills you were talking about.

      It did take a while for me to get used to get It took about 20 hours for me to learn it since it was my first 2 stroke i came from a rmz 250 and a yz250f I now got 67 hours on my bike and I can do anything with it by far mf favorite bike ever

    I went to your TH-cam site. Looks like you didn't keep the 125x for long and ended up getting a trials bike anyway, correct?

    • @xlr8offroad
      @xlr8offroad  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @easternyellowjacket276 correct. The 125X was such a cool bike. But as my interest gravitated to riding and racing hard enduro exclusively, I've found that a trials bike was truly the ultimate trainer. It's been a few years, and I will say I chose correctly. There isn't a top rider that doesn't ride trials.

      @@xlr8offroad I bought an Electric Motion trials to train so I could set up a circuit to practice in my yard. It transformed my riding skills for my 450. Be that as it may, I've thought of grabbing a 125x because they looks so fun.

    Nice videos! I have a ‘17 XT and really like the e-start. The different (arguably better) suspension of a Yamaha is interesting. But how much does kick starting suck?

    • @xlr8offroad
      @xlr8offroad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. The Xtrainer is one of my favorite bikes of all time. Hands down. Hope you are enjoying it..
      2. Honestly, kick starting the 125 is a non-issue. I am pleasantly surprised how much it's not a big deal. Super easy to kick, and realistically if you gotta kick on a hillside, you might as well just flip her around anyway for a restart because it's not starting off from halfway up the hill anyway....lol

    • @jumpmanswoosh2310
      @jumpmanswoosh2310 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You’ll look forward to kicking a 125 promise! it’s just a thing you have to do and never gets in the way super easy and responsive 1-2 kicks every time guaranteed with a normally maintained setup

    • @xlr8offroad
      @xlr8offroad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jumpmanswoosh2310 definitely. I have that Lectron dialed in to 1 kick cold or warm. Thing of beauty....lol

    Do you think its easier to pivot turn and wheelie a 125x vs your 300?

  • @philip5798
    @philip5798 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the great vid. Did the Apex head and Lectron carb make the Yz smoother than stock?

    • @xlr8offroad
      @xlr8offroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100%. The Boyensen rad valve as well. That combo was primo.

    Is it any good on tight wooded single track?

    • @xlr8offroad
      @xlr8offroad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Just remember, it's not a torque monster. No amount of Lectron or head magic will make a 125 a 250/300. But it's light and a blast in the single track. I have some footage of tight single track coming up!

    • @thepatternforms859
      @thepatternforms859 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@xlr8offroad nice! I was worried that it would take nearly constant shifting and clutch work which could make the woods not so much fun?

  • @handendaer
    @handendaer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    why u see people jump meters from a stand still, stand on the back tier on the spot and u see even more do that and more on enduro.. cus its so much easier. lol. insight from someone clearly knows what he is talking about. must be either pure skill and knowledge and or a lot of comment reading from people not even riding.
    edit: its so much easier on a trails bike or light 125 than 300 or even 450... even harder on a 1200 hd if u could imagine that.

    Video should be from distance we see only hand is not sufficient.
