      @urboostd4865 it can be. Fit and finish is key. If the bike has a high level of attention to detail and looks well cared for, then that's half the battle. Ride it, and look it over closely. Ask about suspension service. The 17 Sachs forks were known for internal anodizing wear, which requires new fork tubes, though not all bikes were effected. AMP replaced mine during valving. OEM hour meter is impressive since they often die. Beta's are a little noisey and the 17 is pre-counter balance but if it revs smooth and makes good power she is fine. GL!

    I just picked up a 2023 beta 300 race and am setting it up for hard enduro, your video was SUPER helpful. I can see on the radiator guards you shaved some out so you could get the steeper steering radius. Did you remove the nuts from the steering stop bolts? Thanks!

    • @xlr8offroad
      @xlr8offroad 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @nhhardenduro9606 glad it helped! The new Ptech guards have the gap machined to facilitate the 2024+ slanted radiators. I couldn't quite remove the stop bolts, but they are adjusted in. The radius is better than my 2017, but I would love to have more. It's almost hilarious, Beta's trials bikes are widely known for their crazy tight turning radius. Truly, the front wheel on my trials bike can pitch to like 80 degrees. Yet, their enduro bikes are known for the opposite. A note on the 23. Some dent the top of the radiator with a large socket, creating a pocket for fork to clear. This gets them as tight as the 24+.

    @XLR8 Expanding on the fan does the plug that comes with the fan plus right to the beta harnesses? Or you have to modify to fit or hardwired directly to the stock harnesses..?

    • @xlr8offroad
      @xlr8offroad หลายเดือนก่อน

      @pwrcycles4735 the factory harness has a fan plug that is proprietary and used when installing the Beta OEM fan kit. That plug provides a hot wire (only while bike is running) and a ground. I simply clipped that plug off to extend the wires down. Positive goes to the fan, and the ground goes to the thermostat, then ground wire goes to the fan. This allows the fan to be switched on by the ground wire.

    Update #2 - Sept 5th, 2024 - i ended up having to utilize my mechanic to finish installing the steering wheel because the junkyard that removed just the steering wheel had some trouble with removing just the steering wheel from the column or whatever. So anyway, the cruise control button on the wheel lights up but sadly still no dice on the dash, in other words there still is no cruise control light on the dash that lights up. I have an appointment at a shop next week to get it re-flashed, ans i guess all they do is "buy the rights to the vin" and then hopefully all it is is turn cruise control on: yes or no. If this doesnt work, I'll just give up, at least i got a new steering wheel out of this whole process.

    today, September 4th, 2024, i completed most of this job with a $50 junkyard steering wheel with cruise control off of a 2021 GM VAN onto my 2017 gm van. i had a little trouble with taking off the airbag and inserting something thin on either side of the wheel in order to dislodge the airbag. i eventually got that done. i then had a little trouble getting the airbag cord off with the little 2 orange clips, to pull up on those. i eventually got that done. i did not leave the nut on the steering wheel and i pulled and pulled and pulled and came back to it after a few minutes, and it came out kinda forcefully, I can see why one youtube video says to leave the nut on while pulling on the steering wheel. Anyway, I got that all done, and got the steering wheel main clip undone as well. I then cleaned on the clockspring cause it was dusty and cleaned the new wheel just cause. I clipped the steering wheel cruise control thing in and then clipped the main wheel thing in as well. I tried pushing the airbag in, but to no avail as it is still currently kinda loose and I may have to cannibalize a part or two from the old steering wheel in order to make sure that the airbag is in securely. on the bright side I tested it with the battery plugged in, and pressed the cruise on button and it lit up! I'll get it back from the mechanic tommorow so I can properly test whether I even installed the steering wheel the right way [considering the 2 front wheels were not pointing straight] and whether the cruise light on the dash lights up or not.

    Do you know exactly what model of clutch lever is that? They have a few different styles on their website. One finger, two finger, three finger and even four finger levers. That one looks like a one finger lever. Also, does one really need a Tubliss system if only trail riding, muddy terrain or in the woods and never over rocky terrain with sharp edges?

    • @xlr8offroad
      @xlr8offroad 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @olegk455 it is the 1 finger lever. As for Tubliss, it is definitely not a requirement. But the benefits are pretty big. The bike still rolls and makes it back to the truck with 0 psi, the added traction is insane, and the system is relatively low cost. One option would be to only add it to the rear, and run heavy duty tubes in the front. Hope this helps.

    Looking at getting a 2017 gm van that doesn't have factory cruise control. Would doing something as simple as swapping it with a wheel that has the cc on the wheel add cc to a vehicle that didn't come with it from the factory?

    You lost me at spare starter. All these mods. There is a guy named Jimmy Lewis. He’s a pro rider, tester and all around super experienced guy. He often says, weekend guys put way to many mods, to the point of ridiculousness.

      @utahdesertrider1806 does your friend Jimmy race hard enduro without a backup kickstart? If he is an offroad guy, he probably hits the button at the start line once per race... Switches fail all the time. I'm not spending $900 replacing bolts with titanium here...lol. A backup start switch is a VERY common mod for hard enduro riders and is not remotely expensive or complicated. Every mod on my bike serves 1 of 2 purposes. Be more reliable to finish a race or be more specific to my riding style. That's it. No chrome graphics, cone valves, high compression heads, or custom pipes... It's pretty basic stuff here. Thanks for the input and discussion!

    Sir, Thank you for this video. At 62 I am having to let go my 1992BMW GS/PD go for my back issues. I happened upon a 2017 DR200 and this just hastened me getting along with the age transition. Thank you for the very informative video and especially all the links. I already ordered the rack and the petcock. I very much appreciate the time you took to do the research and documentation with experience learned. All those that bash the younger generations for selfishness, you just proved them wrong. Good on you !

      @xcridin5234 Ptech. They are rock solid with some great features. They accommodate the 24 radiator shape for more clearance, and they have a built-in fan bracket for either SPAL or the Beta oem fan to bolt right up. Check out my mod discussion vid as I show the features first hand. Thanks for supporting the channel!!

    Guitar strings work very well, put a slight bend about 2" from the end and spin the jet against it with your fingers, slide it in and out and sight through it till it appears clear. Soak them in a small cup with a bit of carb cleaner in it before and after as many times as needed. Hit up someone for some used guitar strings.

    I dont understand why People put different spare parts on the bike like the second starter.. In this case you should also take a spare pipe, tire,... With you 😂

    • @xlr8offroad
      @xlr8offroad 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Maxpayn7895 Yeah, it's a balance of what will leave you sitting and added weight. But I will say, nothing worse than going from 1st to DNF because of a bike failure. Especially if it's a part that you could have easily carried.

    I went to your TH-cam site. Looks like you didn't keep the 125x for long and ended up getting a trials bike anyway, correct?

    • @xlr8offroad
      @xlr8offroad 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @easternyellowjacket276 correct. The 125X was such a cool bike. But as my interest gravitated to riding and racing hard enduro exclusively, I've found that a trials bike was truly the ultimate trainer. It's been a few years, and I will say I chose correctly. There isn't a top rider that doesn't ride trials.
