Hi Brad, I really enjoy your videos especially, that you are just a bit further along on your learning curve and your own current skill level than I am. Contrary to a comment below, I find the video quite instructive and I've been looking for a LB video just like yours, that shows various surfers doing pop-ups on longboard at different points on the shoulder of the wave. My problem seems to be catching the wave/. That is getting enough speed up when the shoulder of the wave is not yet that steep. I seem to need to get really close to the peak to get the speed but then often wind up nosediving. Keep up the series and the good work and enjoy your surfing. BTW I'm 75 and now trying to to move to longboarding from shorter boards. It just looks so much more chill. . Pushups and the pop-up motion itself are not t so much the problem for me but rather timing and positioning. Thanks!
As a surf instructor for over 20 years .most new instructors teach the pop up yet most people can't physically do a pop up. That why a push up to plank followed by a step with the back foot 🦶 followed by the front foot .... Eventually u can get to the pop up and some super athletic can start with it .but most need an in-between .some even need to start with a knee Down first instead of back foot
If this was for a beginner I don’t think it’s helpful. Beginners tend to sit too far back on the board, that’s what I was talking about with trimming. To show these very good surfers doing some thing doesn’t help the guy just learning how to surf.
Would love to have waves like that!
A day late watching this, but thanks for these LB popup tips. Always good video for review, esp. of such stylin’ surfers as these in the ‘Bu.🤙
