Winnipeg is probably the most underrated team in the league with a very strong fan base. Those white outs in playoffs are unreal and could rattle the avs.

First time I've watched your podcast. Excellent job, much better than DNVR. Jet fan but I like to listen to podcast from other teams in the division. Excellent analysis. Something we are not use to here in Canada where it is constantly Leafs, Leafs, Leafs despite them being a medicore for so long. For the most part, I agree with you. Really like the line about Sherman tank v Porsche. Disagree with you slightly in your analysis of defence. For as much as there is a gap between the Avs and Jets on offence, there is a larger gap in favour of the Jets on defence. But with that said, the Jets outscored the Avs, head to head, 17-4. Even if you throw out that last game, the Jets outscored the Avs 10-4. Also gave the edge to the Avs on the PP and PK. Yet, once again head to head, the Jets were 3-6 on the PP whereas the Avs were 1-9. Once again you can throw away that last game and the Jets were 1-3 whereas the Avs were 1-8. This is going to be a great series. The key will be the Jets maintaining their structure vs the Avs ability to pick the lock. Of course, my money is on the Jets. Jets in 6.
Gotta be honest feels like I just watched a locked on jets episode, without the accents. WTF. Just kidding, I appreciate your non-homer, neutral look at this matchup. I'm sticking to my rope-a-dope theory, though. The no-offensive-star structure of the jets is a tough thing to defend; just slowing down a player or two just doesn't limit their offense. Brilliant. However, Bednar's adaptive tactics and strategies are freaking stellar, and he stays frosty. Honestly, I am really happy for the Jets and their fans, they have been so ridiculously good, and they've earned it.
Manitoban speaking. The Avalanche must not be taken lightly by the Jets at any point or Winnipeg is screwed. It’s the depth of the team that performs best in the playoffs. I think Colorado is pretty top heavy this year

Listening to this as an Avs fan from Winnipeg. They (the team's ownership) cracked down on reselling tickets, costing season ticket holders a "seller's" fee, which drove ticket resale way down and ticket prices way up. Season ticket holders used to sell ticket at face value or even at a bit of a discount, which was great for the casual fan looking for a night out. Instead this year, those casual fans are looking at regular seats because at the end of the day they're cheaper, but still way more than most people can afford right now, especially when taking the whole family. Its a total joke, people here absolutely adore the Jets, but True North is making hard to directly support them. Go Avs, I'll be at game 1 👌
Looking forward to a good, clean, fast and skilled series. I’m also hoping Avs fans are highly knowledgeable about hockey? At least the winner won’t be severely injured from cheap shots, as both teams play with class. (Yes, I’m talking to you PK Subban) Go Jets go!
This is the one team i didnt want to face lol that being said though this is no way gonna be a sweep. I think jets win in 6 or 7 based on how well they made this roster. Those 4 lines are scary balanced and make you pay if you lose on the boards. Jets, and Avs have both had mental lapses during the season though with losing streaks so it's gonna be interesting series and im excited for some playoff hockey!!! In Mack Mikko and Makar we have to trust 🤞
I really enjoyed the show guys. Great analysis on each phase of the teams and how they compare. Since the Jets returned we have never play the Avs in the playoffs so I’m pretty pumped. I’m thinking 7 games if the jets can contain Nathan and Cale. I’m just happy the jets look like they should be heathy. Last year we lost ehlers, Morrissey, and schiefele against the golden knights.
I didnt like the kracken match up last year, but i hate the jets match up. They are 0 and 4 vs the jets, and they were not competitive in any of those games. This isn't a goalie issue.... this is a team wide problem
This series will be the hardest for the avs. Colorado can outscore most opponent's except the jets. All because of hellebuyck. Pepper him like we did to vasey, If we can get( not counting on it) playoff georgiev, we can definitely do this in 6 to 7. If we get fourgieve, we can fourget this years playoffs. Let's go avs
A couple weeks ago, when everything was clicking after the trade deadline, I thought the Avs could beat any team in the league. I guess I still believe that, but they have to play a full 60 and this has been a problem with them all season long. Winnipeg is the hardest matchup they could've drawn. Hellebuyck is a game stealer, and even if the Avs are on their game they will have a hard time scoring on him. What I hope to see from the Avs is a commitment to the defense playing defense. I hope they spend a week of practices learning how to clear the freaking zone. Unpopular opinion - Makar is not having a great year. Yeah, he has a lot of points, but it has been at the expense of his defense, which is supposed to be his primary job. I was at the Jets game and that was by far the worst performance I think I've ever seen from this team. But here's a fun fact: they won the faceoffs something like 65% to 35%. Didn't seem to mean anything...
You said it all talking about playing 60 minutes. That and complete carelessness in their own zone. Defense turns it over way too often. They get beat to the puck, way too often. It’s not hard to out work the Avalanche. The defensive incompetence has not been fixed all season long. It kills them how often Georgiev gives up goals on the first shot. I don’t see this series going more than five games.
The Jets will score a few easy goals on Georgiev then shut the door. I see that pattern repeating itself in every game in the playoffs. I'm not too hopeful about the Avs' chances against that kinda team.
I feel that if we play better defense I think we should win but if we can’t fix that we will be done quickly. And fourgiev needs to make some freaking saves
I’ll try and be one of the few voices of optimism in the chat. I think the 7-0 game on Saturday may just wake up the sleeping giant. Anyone who’s played sports and been on the wrong end of an embarrassing loss probably knows there are basically two ways to react. The first is to bury the tail between the legs and surrender to the fact that you’re inferior and continue to play without any confidence. The second is fiery motivation to do everything possible not to feel that embarrassment again. Considering the Avs are professionals and the core has won at the highest level, I think the second is the more likely scenario. Does that mean they win the series? No idea because it hasn’t happened. Only thing it means is that I don’t personally have to start watching the series expecting the only potential result to be doom and gloom. LFG AVS!
Why not embrace the underdog tag? All the pressure is on the Jets - higher seed, swept Avs in regular season, better goalie, and havent delivered in the playoffs yet. Avs have a cup and are playing with house money after limping into the playoffs 😂 An exaggeration but you know what I mean
Jets fan agree with your assessment on the breakdowns including special teams, however the Jets PP has improved greatly since the addition of Monahan and with a healthy Villardi it's a dangerous first unit Vilardi-Scheifele-Monahan-Connor-Morrissey. While not as good as the Avs PP the Jets PP is better than their season average of 19%. This series is going to come down to adjustments Avs coaching makes to counter the Jets current game plan. Avs haven't had an answer for the Jets all year outscored 17-4 in the three meetings. I expect this series to be a good one I think this series can go seven and it should be entertaining hockey.

This episode was so hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing at every word you guys said during that advantage breakdown. You don’t judge advantages on what the 2 teams have done with the other 30 teams in the league. Rather Advantage breakdowns are based on the three games that these two teams have played against each other. It will be a victory if the AVS don’t get sweep by the Jets. You guys are hilarious. Try some of the Awesome Sauce the AVS been having this April with a 2-5-1 record once the Oilers are done with the AVS on Thursday.
Nowhere lol Winnipeg has scored AT-WILL against the Avalanche all season. They will smoke the Avs in this series. The Avs are awful right now, first round exits for sure.
Just last season, the core of the Jets were being broke up in the offseason with Hallebuyck being the big fish in trade bait. Like Vancouver and Boston, Winnipeg outplayed their expectations. We'll see if they can actually perform in the Postseason with no experience.
No they won’t the avs didn’t have the same team for half the games this season and they also didn’t appear to be trying just as the 2022 season went before they won the cup never count the avs out
Avs in 6. We have more playoff performers who turn into ANIMALS in playoffs over the Jets. Remember the Jets were on a suuuuuper cold streak before their random hot one right now.
The Avalanche has an advantage over Winnipeg in Goalies... unless Georgiev is in net, or that other guy. The Avalanche has an advantage over Winnipeg in Defense because they've only let in 17 goals in 3 games... that's amazing! The Avalanche has an advantage over the Winnipeg Jets in Offense because the Jets have only scored 17 times while the best team ever (the Avalanche) have scored 4 times... that's impressive! The Avalanche have an advantage in all matters, unless the Jets are on the ice. yup. that's it. Advantage Avalanche, unless you look at reality or stats. FIRST ROUND EXIT! for the advantaged Avalanche. It's an advantage because they get to book better and sooner tee times!
@@AlergicToSnow I didn't say anything. It turns out even with my tongue in my cheek, that doesn't affect typing. nice try though. you almost seemed intelligent.
That isn't why the jets have beaten the avs this year. Georgiev played his role, but that ignores the defensive breakdowns and absolute no show offensive efforts in the matchups this year. If the avs can average 4 goals a game they have a shot...if they average 1 they don't.
@@qp2044It's the default Jets perspective. Hellebuyck is definitely one of the best goalies on the planet, thus the narrative almost always becomes that he single handedly beat whatever team they're up against😂

There isn't a ref squad alive that would let a series be determined by special teams
Wanna bet? $$$$$$$$$$$$
Bowness had to coach some bad teams in the past
The Avalanche have no advantages against the Jets. 4-2. 6-2. 7-0. Notice a pattern? Four games left, Avalanche.
Nowhere lol Winnipeg has scored AT-WILL against the Avalanche all season. They will smoke the Avs in this series. The Avs are awful right now, first round exits for sure.
We shall see
Just last season, the core of the Jets were being broke up in the offseason with Hallebuyck being the big fish in trade bait. Like Vancouver and Boston, Winnipeg outplayed their expectations. We'll see if they can actually perform in the Postseason with no experience.
No they won’t the avs didn’t have the same team for half the games this season and they also didn’t appear to be trying just as the 2022 season went before they won the cup never count the avs out
Colorado has better stars, but far less depth and much worse goaltending. Still, when you have MacKinnon and Makar, you always have a chance.
Avs in 6. We have more playoff performers who turn into ANIMALS in playoffs over the Jets. Remember the Jets were on a suuuuuper cold streak before their random hot one right now.
Not even close defensively. To act like it needs to be considered is stupid. Avs offence, yeah okay.
Oh this is cute lol
Sorry. I didn’t hear that. You must have had your tongue in your cheek.
@@AlergicToSnow I didn't say anything. It turns out even with my tongue in my cheek, that doesn't affect typing. nice try though. you almost seemed intelligent.
Vegas has the Jets as the underdog in this series. No respect.
Even better for Wpg. Avs have never experienced the whiteout. Go Jets Go!
Take away the goalies the AvS have the better roster. If we lose the series we know why it will happen...
Hellebuyck is definitely one of the best goalies on the planet, thus the narrative almost always becomes that he single handedly beat whatever team they're up against😂
@@qp20444 goals against the Jets each game?
@@meagainandagain5756 yes, if the avs are going to win they are going to need to hit their average goals per game...they do average that high for a reason. I also recognize that the jets don't give up that many on average, so whomever can hit their average will have a huge advantage
Advantage: Winnipeg
FOURgiev SUCKS! Colorado should have picked up an even half decent backup. They might not get swept as I predict they will, but they get bounced in the first round… again
His defense is atriocious, including Makar and Toews.
It’s 50/50
If I was a betting man, I would bet on the Avalanche.
I'll take that bet! How much because I am holding you to it! it's a verbal and binding contract now
WHY?? 😂 The Jets are clearly superior. They own the Avs.
@@EnjoyerofMiserableMarinersBsbl do you want in on this bet? we can share his life savings together
Let’s gooo
You are beyond delusional we know the avs will flip the switch and find gears that the jets don’t even know exist
