Attach the words "golf aid" to a common item, and it'll sell for 500% more. Call a driveway marker an "alignment stick" and the price goes from $2.50 to $15.

They make an alignment stick disc thing that holds sticks at various angles for your swing plane, for $80.
Or…you could get a chunk of wood and drill holes in it at various angles for almost $nothing.
      Golf training aids are ridiculous.

Once I was at Walmart checking out their golf stuff. They sold Callaway alignment sticks for $14.95. I then went over to their hardware section and they sold two driveway markers for $3.95. I bought them right away. They work perfectly well as alignment sticks, and the money is in my pocket, not Callaway's.

I know it’s impossible to show every training aid, however I would love for you to get hold of and do a review of the GEM. Stands for Golf Essential Move from a Scottish PGA pro. It’s designed to set the club and teaches correct release.

I could not swing the GEM without a wobble, trying everything I could imagine, felt duped. Recently came across Intelligent Golf Performance video titled ,” Backswing and Impact fix/ a training aid you need.” After seeing this, it reminded of the gem and sure enough, I could swing it without a wobble. Now, I’m left with two questions; 1. Will this help my golf? 2. Did I need the Gem or could I have gotten the motion with the setup the Intelligent Golf guy had?

The one aid you didn’t show that I’ve used for years is the weighted swing trainer that starts with a S and ends with a Z (rhymes with skills). Short weighted stick with a training grip, and you can change the weight at the end. It’s great for small apartments with limited room as I can full swing beside my couch. And I pick it up every time I watch a training video to practice a drill. And it’s cheap! Only 40 bucks.

I've only bought a couple of training aids over the years and neither were mentioned here. My fave swing aid is the Medicus (5 iron) club. Its really good for ensuring a good tempo thru the swing and the club gives great feedback when your takeaway is too fast or your follow thru/release is incorrect. I usually swing it for 5 minutes prior to every round. Good value as Ive had it for almost 20 years. The other one I have is a Momentus "Heavy" club. Its great for correcting tempo AND really helps loosen up any stiffness you might have prior to a round, especially for senior golfers. I was kinda surprised you didnt mention them, but hey there are likely thousands more "swing trainers" out there. Great video!!

I've actually learned much more on TH-cam over the past year that I could probably give lessons. After watching many of these videos, I've learned why I'm making the mistakes I've been making for years & how to fix them absolutely free of charge so I really should thank the people who provide all of this information nearly on a daily basis. A phone with slow motion and a sky trac, gave me the best improvements that I’ve ever experienced, and that includes lessons. I have the Live View, and find it hard to use, a friend with a phone is better.

I love these types of videos and it’s amazing that you went through the effort of collecting them all, testing each one, and providing your feedback. The challenge with these videos however is that most people that “test” them, similar to you, well, they have a great swing. I don’t feel you can test a fix for something you don’t have broken. You can’t test a slice fixer tool if you don’t have a slice. And trying to replicate a slice is no where near to a person that has a slice that is trying their @$$ off to not slice. These product reviews would be better if you brought in people with issues and have them see if it really “fixes” them. Just a thought.

The one training aid I've used and liked isn't on your list. It's Greg Norman's Secret, a special glove that fits your trailing hand (right hand for most of us). About $28 bucks, available online in various places. It trains the trailing hand (specifically the thumb) to keep in a certain position throughout the swing, promoting the proper release with that hand. It works to stop wrist flipping in the down swing, promoting the trailing hand to do the proper crossover AFTER impact. It fixed my right hand action within a week of working with it. A bit uncomfortable until one gets used to it.

Done with lighter band and wedge and no full swing. I have to assume that you did not follow proper protocol if you had any back pain what so ever. Most men over 40 on the Driving Range have very little to no body rotation, theirs is an arm only swing. The PlaneMate could be of great value to most of them.

  • @golfguy94
    @golfguy94 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

some solid points in here on some of these training aids. however, I will say you aren't using a few of them correctly at all. reading directions helps. the swing align goes over your biceps, not your forearms. it's good for alignment and keeping your arms and body connected, so if you have a bad flying elbow or not getting good width it will help there. the flight deck is also mostly for a driver and hitting the ball the other direction to make sure your angle of attack is positive, which is an easy way for most amateurs to pick up some extra yards easily. you place the orange things to work on swing path. to make sure you aren't coming over the top, etc. if someone hit one of those hard enough to send it flying down the range... odds are their swing isn't very good and likely came over the top in a big way. the prosendr from sean foley and david woods is a great one, and the DST compressor is a good one that you have on here. I found the rypstick, the stack and superspeed sticks all very useful to gain clubhead speed. oh, and teenagers should definitely be working on speed and training with a good coach or TPI certified instructor. this is 1960. most good teachers will tell you that they much prefer young players to learn how to swing as fast as they can as early as they can.

Ideas. How about you go to what some of us consider cheap courses, like Trident Lakes in St Mary Georgia, priced like 30 for 18? It’s a well kept course. Or Deer Creek in Indiana another below $50.00. Again very well kept course. Or right here in my hometown of Fort Meyers, Eastwood golf course. Not everyone has $120.00 to $300.00 as is charged on the Ocean course that I have played in Palm Coast. Just a thought.

I bought the swingaid. Yellow piece of plastic with 1 screw. It makes your brain think it works. Ive used them all. The best one that works that ive found...... Getting proper lie angles bent and PROPER fitting. Proper fitting is the first thing any golfer should figure out how to do. Its the difference between having a sharp or dull sword.

Somewhere between 3 and 5 K worth of product's you tested, nice that the $3 ball was your fav, there are many more training aids, most are too expensive for what you really get out of them, but we are all ever hopeful that one of them will be the ONE!!

  • @industrialpalletworx3548

Training aids are helpful, but you should only look at the one's you see pros using. They play for money and are trying to gain any possible advantage they can. I use the hangar and the DST Compressor. You can score the hanger for a lot cheaper than he showed. I did. It's also useful for a bit more than advertised,it'sgreat for working on wrist conditions. I like it for short game practice too. One not listed is the tour striker ball. I use one of my kids play balls. Great concept for feeling proper right arm motion and staying connected. The DST is a game changer. It can be had second hand for quite a bit less too.

A good service for all of us hackers. One device not mentioned is the Pro Swing Training System by Dan Martin. It's a rope with a golf grip and a weighted soft cylinder. Purports to teach a non-leveraged swing, essentially keeping the cylinder in an orbit, rather like David's sling. I like the concept but the devil is in the details. If you haven't guessed, I've ordered one and will try it out.

Your best advice comment was "Simple is best". Some of these "training aids" are so cumbersome and complicated that they're not worth the time (or money) to set up and use enough to make any difference or worthwhile. Many of them can be duplicated at home for free with using simple items you find around the house. The ones I like the best are ones that can also be multi purpose, such as the green ball and the chuck stick. The ball can be used between the arms and also used to check your downswing motion by throwing it at your feet. Same thing with the chuck stick. If you stoop using it, you can get a dog to play with! 😅
