I met Paul Revere and the Raiders and lead singer Mark Lindsey in the early 1960s when I was 12. I'm now 75. I was working at a roller rink (not for money) behind the counter handing out roller skates and repairing them when necessary. I did that to pay for my own skates and lessons. On the weekends, most roller rinks were also music venues. In the summer of 1962, Paul Revere and the Raiders came to our town and roller rink. I helped them unload their equipment and then Mark Lindsey asked me if they could skate. I put the band on roller skates and we skated around for almost and hour. They were so fun! But then my 'boss' told me I was too young to stay for the music show, so I had to walk home. I said good bye, but Mark Lindsey picked me up in his arms and said thank you for the skating. I will always cherish that memory.

I rushed home from school every afternoon to watch "Where The Action Is" with Paul Revere and the Raiders.
    Loved them.
Paul Revere was a Revolutionay hero and they took advantage of the reference to wear those uniforms.

@rx7dude2006 OH WOW!! Jim was my favorite Raider back then. I LOVED watching them on "Where the Action Is" and enjoyed the humor they always put in their act. Of course, I LOVE their music, that goes without saying. SO fantastic to hear that he is your neighbor and I am happy to hear that he is doing well. I am 77 now, well closer to 78 in 8 weeks. If you see him tell him that you received a comment under their "KICKS" video from a longtime fan, and let him know that HE was my favorite Raider. Love to him and his family, and to yours as well. 😊😊

Mark Lindsay is a great singer and showman. Thxs for shining light on an almost forgotten great singer and group. I loved this great song back then still do.Many very good songs in their catalog. Also Mark had a few very good songs, Arizona comes to mind. Definitely drugs were around much especially late 60s.

Another great rock band from the 60's-70's. They were known for including Revolutionary War-style clothes in their attire. The band had their first hit in 1961 with the instrumental "Like, Long Hair". "Indian Reservation" was one of their biggest hits in 1971. But they had a lot of great songs such as "Just Like Me", "Hungry", "Let Me", "Arizona", "Him Or Me - What's It Gonna Be?", "Mr. Sun, Mr. Moon", "Good Thing" etc

It's pronounced Paul RE-VEER and the Ray-ders. Their costumes were in reference to the American revolutionary was hero Paul Revere who road through the night with the warning "The British Are Coming, The British Are Coming" so the people could be ready for them when they attacked. Paul Revere was a silversmith by trade.

Paul Revere was one of the original band members and they played on the name of the Revolutionary War hero also named Paul Revere - whick is the reason they're wearing Revolutionary War uniforms. Paul was the organist - the singer was Mark Liindsey.

The "B" side is BIRDS OF A FEATHER 🪶 Great Reaction!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸 New songs is tough because (for one) it's hard to re-re-re-say something that's been said a thousand times and repackage as New!! Regifting!! Until it gets forgotten and comes back and people think it's new and gives praise and that one guy says NOPE!!! Been done! And then they say HEY!!! You and your antigravity chair is in the way Gramps!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼

I was born in 1949 so the 60s was my era for music. Most of the dances for teens and TV music shows introduced Go-Go dancers on stage with the bands and that was certainly the case for the two rock bands I played the drums with. Back in the 60s you have to remember we felt the pressure of the clean cut 50s look with the influence of the Beatles who introduced the mop top hair styles and initially wore suits when they performed. As drugs became more prominent in the music scene the hair grew longer and the suits disappeared being replaced by paisley body shirts and flared trousers with cuban heeled shoes. Fortunately, I didn't get involved with the drugs but I definately did with the dress culture back then.

Those are revolutionary war uniforms based on the midnight ride of Paul Revere, where he rode through the towns yelling, " the British are coming the British are coming", and they British came musically in 1964 known as the British invasion with the Beatles leading the way and I was there to see it and I was only 6 at the time, but remember it like it was yesterday.

Part of this song's sound is the electric 12-string guitar, which had been popularized by the Beatles, and then the Byrds. Very much of the moment in 1966.
PS: this song was offered to the Animals first - it would have worked great for them, right in Eric Burdon's vocal range.

Terrible audio should have gone with studio release. Paul was the keyboardist and Mark Lindsay on vocals. They were known for those types of outfits and also for goofing around during their live performances which I think hurt them. They have many good songs but may not have been taken seriously when people consider the bands from that era. For several years they hosted a show called Where The Action Is which featured musical acts and dancing and such. Often taped outside on the California beaches.
