I found a job that reimburses for housing so the first time I can invest money. I won't be doing this forever but working outside of the box is the way to go. If I didn't have my housing covered I would live in my car and go back to Doordash and other apps and online work because I refuse to work a job and not make a profit. Love your videos.
For me, my job is pretty flexible so it's not a big drag on me even though it does not pay me "a lot" - My salary is the same since 2007. As for supplemental passive income, I'm investing in real estate (the small mom and pop sort).
I'm making pretty good interest on my savings and retirement account. I also get paid for all the excess power I feed back into the grid from my solar panels.
I think we all play important roles. You provide a service on TH-cam by giving advice, but its partially made possible by a Google employee working 9-5. You provide a service of delivering groceries that wouldn't be possible without a truck driver bringing goods to the store. Door Dash from restaurants wouldn't be possible if there was no one prepping food and doing dishes. For some, working independently is best, but so much of our lives depend on people willing to work a job.

Ive been living like you for a long time, raising my 4 babies (homeschooling), while my husband works a low income job. This year they are starting school and I am going to work full time as a CNA. We just cant make it work anymore. I think being able to breathe financially will be a nice change for us.
Couldn't agree more-time is precious. We are in our sixties now and have been nomads all our life. We are frugal. We love traveling and having adventurous life experiences. My hu, sband is 60 and I am 65 with less than 500 a month in my social security, we have always done the side hustle things and right now we juggle mystery shops, 3 oart time jobs and a 3 month contract job for the hubbs, our time together out weighs the fact we aren;t driving mercedes... cheering you on from here in NC... I worked from age 12 babysitting and ended my working nursing career at 62. I REALLY don't want to work. I worked SO hard for so many years! I have decreased my spending a lot. I needed expensive car repair and my sister lent me the money. Now she's on a bandwagon that I need to work. I already started paying her back per our verbal agreement. I'm frustrated!!!
I ended my working life at 55 and have been able to stay out of the workplace these last 10 years. It helps that I am mortgage free and living in my country is a lot cheaper than in the US.

Car is debt free , no credit cards other than debit card. I want to pay off my house so much. It's just me so no other income. I have been helping my daughter a little but not lately. Told her I can't si I say no when she asks.

She just switched jobs... which I think is fine but she can't talk bad about the other jobs because they make it possible for her to have her current job(s).
Side hustles and gig work are jobs - with no steady income and no benefits. My husband's and my moderate-paid jobs have given us a net worth of over $1 million, none of this in a house or car. We've deployed our income intentionally and really benefited from the benefits! The retirement matches were free money. Our jobs gave us peace of mind as well as the capital to save and invest. Add to this the fact that both of us loved our jobs and worked in our fields of study.
I am a little confused to be honest. Are you an entrepreneur? There are ways to create passive income, but you still have to work to create passive income. For example, what I grow in my garden is 'passive income' because I'm not buying food at the store. However I still need to buy seeds, gardening tools and add amendments to the soil to start and maintain my garden.

As a retired nurse I can honestly tell you that the vast majority of people who go into nursing aren’t doing it for the money, the paycheck is the bonus. We go into the field because we have a desire to help and care for people. Besides $75k isn’t anything to shake a stick at.

I never made that much as a nurse but with my husband’s income from his job we were just fine(although I did support my son on my income alone for a few years and it wasn’t a problem). Living within your means is the key on any income no matter how large or small it is.
I have sold items on offer up, Mercari and Facebook marketplace. My account on Facebook was banned and the money wasn’t stable. My job in the criminal justice feild makes me feel secure.

So true that hard work doesn’t equal more money. I would add that corporations rarely promote the people who do the work, because then the work wouldn’t get done. So it’s crazy to work harder thinking there will be some payoff at some point in the future.
Love your emergency budget plan! You didn't mention the daycare costs that you would have if you were working. A minimum wage job wouldn't even cover the cost!
If you are low income you can qualify for Head Start(daycare). Free and/or low cost tutoring for your kids, free school lunches, etc. You can get free financial aid if you are poor so you can go to College. You fill out a FAFSA. There are many opportunities out there that will help you build a business, start a career. Living frugally is all well and good. And I have been there when I was a young college kid, but it gets old... And you will too. Good luck living like that when you are old. You may end up living on the streets... Which I have a feeling happens a lot.

My husband was without a job for many years(extreme mental issues*) I work fulltime ..small business owner. He found a job 3 years ago and it helped us get out of 46k of debt(mostly student loans). Now we are to the point of where do we want to move and do with our lives. We live in 239 square feet of space with a ton of stuff (we got rid of so much) we are planning on 1 to 2 more years and it should afford us to have another paid off vehicle and possibly no payment on a house if it works out. I rather work 2 more years and then have more time freedom. I work really hard with my business and now work 7 months out of the year. I want a cushion, the extra money. I pretty much wasted 8 years of my life waiting for stuff to happen so I figure another 2 to get what I want isn't horrible.
Thank you for this common sense video. I personally have moved offgrid recently. And am in a very Rural area. I had some savings. And even had a job that didn't work out because the place didn't seem to have good intentions. The guy that owned it never paid me in full. It was always a little weekend money as he called it. 3 months in and they were in to me for over 2 grand. At 9 months since I quit working for the scammed. Not a dime owed have I received. So be careful about working for people in even Rural areas. Anyway. I was done with the conventional job mindset after this ,added to what was done to us all over the past few year's. Medicaid abuse (those who have it and abuse the system or flat out lie to get it) is a SERIOUS issue in the USA. What would you do if you became disabled? Doordash, and other side hustle apps, are supplemental income. I agree it is not a main long-term income stream.
Gotcha. There isn't a black/white answer to this question. One of the benefits of being able to make money without working for someone else is we are able to be flexible in the way we make our money. So we would be able to work around certain disabilities. For example, if I became physically disabled, I would still be able to make YT videos. I have mentioned in previous videos that most of my family is autistic, which is considered a disability. Only about 30% of autistic adults are employed (ft or pt), so finding ways to make money beyond a typical job is extremely beneficial to those who are unable to hold a regular job. If we became so disabled we were unable to work at all, we still pay taxes on all our income and would qualify for SSDI. It is also necessary for us to plan for an income loss (which I have made many videos on) and save/plan for retirement. It is absolutely do-able to have a plan without relying on an employer to provide you with disability insurance. If one is so inclined, disability insurance can be purchased privately (but is probably only beneficial if you are making a high income).
@@sherij7330 We do not receive any disability payments for anyone in our family. Actually, only 5% of autistic adults receive SSI benefits. Receiving disability benefits is definitely not something the vast majority of disabled people would even qualify for. Not that I think any of us are "disabled" - that is just the label the medical community puts on anyone who doesn't follow a particular developmental path. It does absolutely make having a job more challenging though.
I began re-selling on ebay and I wish I've know about this venture when I was younger. Is hard work but I do from home and have quality time with my family. During covid was able to shop online for inventory and now I can go thrifting or estate/garage sales to purchase higher revenue items. Also, postman picks up sold packages from home; making it easier for me...Down side, you need space for inventory and knowledge is power; the more you learn/know about what sells for good profit, the higher your income...
Yes! My teen daughter does this with eBay and a few other apps. You can definitely make a lot of money once you know what sells and when you spot a good deal 😊

It is not only the money that makes me want to get up in the morning and go to work. I love the environment and my co workers. I work at a school, and I appreciate the perks, (paid) long vacations, free phone, free gym, very good pension plan, reduced insurance through my Union. And with grown kids, its very nice to feel needed, and part of a team. And I believe the interaction with other people, spiritually, cultural, political, makes your brain work, and makes you a better person, as you might understand others better, and not being so fixated on an idea or meaning, you get sparring partners in a way. For most of us, the sole income is through our work, and you work too, with your side hustles. You might have more flexibility on your working hours, but I have one day off from work every week. 😊 I hope everything works out for you, and that you get a quick sale on your house. 💕

I couldn’t agree more! Lots of us work for the bare minimum whilst a few rich people make a ton of money. Our society doesn’t work. People are stressed and unhappy, trapped in awful jobs and living for the weekend. The tricky thing is accommodation costs. I couldn’t do what I wanted work wise until I was in my 50s and we paid the mortgage off. I wish we had tried harder earlier. Now my daughters can’t afford to buy houses. They are so expensive in this part of the uk. Their rents are hideously expensive too. It’s a rat trap for the young especially . I used to watch you when your girls were young and you were fixing up your first house. Then you left TH-cam for a long while. I thought you were such a go getter and very smart. First let me say that no one ever said or promised that life is fair. Next your children need a stable environment with some friends and an occasional activity. I so appreciate how you look at all the ways to live life and do what works for your family! It feels as though the message most promoted in the U.S.and much of the industrialized world, due largely to the education system that was designed to crank out obedient little worker bees, tries to mold everyone into the go to school, get a job working for someone else, hope you can earn enough to get by, repeat until you die. I'm encouraged to see more of the younger generations breaking out of the mold. If we had a better health care system in the US that didn't tie people and their pre-existing conditions to an employer to keep their health insurance, if we recognized that with creativity not everyone needs a college degree and the debt that usually comes with one, and if more people were frugal and didn't buy into the marketing propaganda that has completely blurred the lines between wants and needs, there would be more people less dependent on outside employment to survive, but there are too many in power that don't want that to happen... To me is making it work I also budget and we live in a home that we split 3ways the rent , I cook every day and I always look for sales to buy our food I don’t buy cloghes all the time , awesome 👏 job my friend.
I think it depends on your career . I know of career that you can get 6 figures with 37.5 hours per week. And some of those jobs you can do your hours in 3 days. So I think everything depends . If people don't want to study something in healthcare. I don't know how it will work. To be a self employed is not easy and it's like being on duty 24/7. I have see it with my own eyes. At least the hospital work when you go home you are at peace. You did your work and went home. When self employed your mind has to be on top of your business 24/7 it's exhausting.
People are too much.. you and your husband found ways to pay your bills and take care of your family who cares how it was, as long as it's legal LOL. You are good examples for your children the way you are living your Frugal life and showing them that money is not what brings happiness.😊

Currency and money are 2 different things. Saving currencies is like using a leaking gas can. Money is a store of value like gold and silver. Currencies loose value. Buying a cheap tax sale house helped us a bunch. Not paying mortgage or rent. I could be a vet tech but it don't pay the bills. So I do construction and also install and remove docks and boat lifts for winter or ice destroys them. Doing docks pays well for a seasonal business on the weekends. I pay by production because it's what it pays. Sometimes I give a F.U. price 3 times more than it should be and people say okay. Poverty is a choice. High populations and limited resources. Everywhere is hiring. It don't hurt to work and learn a skill. It's how I learned many construction trades.
I work two jobs. One is my own so I sort of set my own hours but I wouldn’t have much business if I didn’t jump when called. My “regular” job is 100% for the health insurance and to build a retirement savings. I wonder how your family has health insurance and how you plan to support yourselves when you physically can’t work? Obviously you had a substantial emergency fund to get you through when your husband lost your job but like you said that is not sustainable.
We actually didn't use any of our emergency fund to pay bills. We were making enough money with our side hustles to pay for everything while living on our bare bones budget - that was kinda the point of decreasing our expenses so low. But just until we could get our income up. We just chose to do that without getting job. We never have been without an income. And you can definitely save money and plan for retirement without having a job :)
Interesting you don’t consider your side hustles jobs. That’s great you could make that much though and not have to touch your emergency fund. Also it is known that most Americans don’t have an emergency fund anyway. I personally couldn’t go without health insurance. Just too scary. One accident and it’s all over. I am 52 and basically just starting retirement due to a divorce so I have to save a substantial amount each month genes why almost all my income from one job goes to that. I could not save that much with just my other job and I don’t have the time to only save smaller amounts. You are obviously hard workers and super smart with your money.

I would add that more responsibility (should) = more money. I believe that a wage should reflect the responsibility that it carries. My son also believes in your philosophy and my question has always been, if everyone worked the way you suggest, how would bridges and buildings and homes get planned and built? How would food get grown, harvested, shipped, sold? How could police officers, FBI, CIA, security guards, military personnel keep citizens safe if they are home prioritizing their time? How does anything get built, fixed, maintained, bought, sold, etc if everyone is home enjoying their most precious commodity, which is time? Everything that we enjoy, whether necessity or luxury, exists because someone else gave up their time in exchange for money to be a part of making it happen. The lifestyle you described only works for a select few who benefit from the vast majority of others that give up their time to keep everything else functioning smoothly.
Well no certain industries don't work that way at all.... I think jobs tend to pay better the more money they can make off their workers... Which only makes sense.
Has your husband thought about becoming an electrician? There is a plant in Stanton Tennessee, it’s a future ford plant. It’s being built. Jobs pay well out there. If your possibly interested. You could make a lot in a few months. Plus the towns near Stanton are small towns and cheaper. And have you thought about going to school? My husband, my father, my son and my grandfather were or are electricians. And you can make $40 plus an hour by going through the union school. It’s 2 nights a week while you work. Making great money and having a skill for life. It’s a 5 year school. Your husband would be a great electrician. And the union will have great insurance and retirement. You can travel while you work because once you are a journeyman electrician you can take big jobs all over the country and travel an work. We were told to try it once before my husband retires. But we rescue huskies so it’s kind of hard to travel with huskies. My husband will finish up the job in Stanton Tennessee then we are moving to live closer to our daughter in Florida. But a career as an electrician can afford you that life style and a good retirement. I was a licensed dental assistant. It paid well. I bought 2 homes as a single mom. I provided for my children. I became disabled in 2010. But I loved dental Assisting. It was fun and I was working with doctors all day. Had a good pay. And was off weekends and nights. I became disabled at 47. It was a real struggle. But my electrician husband pulled us through. We now own 5 properties. So please have your husband consider contacting the union hall it’s on Madison in Memphis Tennessee. I promise he would be well taken care of in the union. It’s a brotherhood.
Since moving back to Tennessee are you still able to do your side hustles like DoorDash and Instacart asking as a person who is in a rule area that doesn’t have those services and I’m on a very fixed income and cannot pay just the basics of bills I would like to know how or what I can do to supplement or make my money straight

TH-cam has been paying pretty well. I have considered doing a video on how much I make doing YT. It's a lot of upfront work to get going before you start making decent money, but once you get there it is pretty nice :) I would say do it if you enjoy making videos! We have an emergency fund in savings, but its definitely not enough to produce dividends to pay for much of anything lol.
I'm in a similar place to you. I've stripped life bare and got back to basics whilst working several side hustles, which I am fine with. I don't want for much these days. But now I need one extra side hustle to tip the balance on 'in versus out' and allow me to keep my work-life balance and mean I'm not being ruled over by a boss turning my time into his profit margin. I'm not under a lot of pressure at the moment thankfully, so at least I can look around and see what will work for me.
I noticed that jobs are keeping us poor too. I am 37 years old, I have no kids, I live with my mom and dad, and I have two jobs, which means I work 11 hours Monday -Friday. And I save a lot of money but I noticed that the two jobs I have are not making me rich, no matter if I am saving $700 every Friday. Yeah it's good to be saving that much but ... I agree jobs don't make us rich it doesn't matter how much money you're making or saving.
For most people, jobs are a means to an end. At 17, I joined the military, married, had a child and stayed 10 years. After that, I worked 30 years, cared for a family, bought two houses, accumulated approximately 2 million dollars in cash, investments and property and retired at age 60. If you wait too long, that opportunity diminishes by the year!

Hubby is in healthcare . We decided early on if they wanted him to come in / stay late when he is not scheduled they would be paying significantly for that. They balked at first but they still call so 🤷♀️ We have no debt so he chooses to work or not .

For me, my job is pretty flexible so it's not a big drag on me even though it does not pay me "a lot" - My salary is the same since 2007. As for supplemental passive income, I'm investing in real estate (the small mom and pop sort).
I'm making pretty good interest on my savings and retirement account. I also get paid for all the excess power I feed back into the grid from my solar panels.
I think we all play important roles. You provide a service on TH-cam by giving advice, but its partially made possible by a Google employee working 9-5. You provide a service of delivering groceries that wouldn't be possible without a truck driver bringing goods to the store. Door Dash from restaurants wouldn't be possible if there was no one prepping food and doing dishes. For some, working independently is best, but so much of our lives depend on people willing to work a job.

Ive been living like you for a long time, raising my 4 babies (homeschooling), while my husband works a low income job. This year they are starting school and I am going to work full time as a CNA. We just cant make it work anymore.
I think being able to breathe financially will be a nice change for us.

I worked from age 12 babysitting and ended my working nursing career at 62. I REALLY don't want to work. I worked SO hard for so many years! I have decreased my spending a lot. I needed expensive car repair and my sister lent me the money. Now she's on a bandwagon that I need to work. I already started paying her back per our verbal agreement. I'm frustrated!!!
I ended my working life at 55 and have been able to stay out of the workplace these last 10 years. It helps that I am mortgage free and living in my country is a lot cheaper than in the US.

Side hustles and gig work are jobs - with no steady income and no benefits.
My husband's and my moderate-paid jobs have given us a net worth of over $1 million, none of this in a house or car.
We've deployed our income intentionally and really benefited from the benefits! The retirement matches were free money.
Our jobs gave us peace of mind as well as the capital to save and invest. Add to this the fact that both of us loved our jobs and worked in our fields of study.
An employer will never pay you enough to have you as their neighbor.. something very true!
I am a little confused to be honest. Are you an entrepreneur? There are ways to create passive income, but you still have to work to create passive income. For example, what I grow in my garden is 'passive income' because I'm not buying food at the store. However I still need to buy seeds, gardening tools and add amendments to the soil to start and maintain my garden.

As a retired nurse I can honestly tell you that the vast majority of people who go into nursing aren’t doing it for the money, the paycheck is the bonus. We go into the field because we have a desire to help and care for people. Besides $75k isn’t anything to shake a stick at.

If you are low income you can qualify for Head Start(daycare). Free and/or low cost tutoring for your kids, free school lunches, etc. You can get free financial aid if you are poor so you can go to College. You fill out a FAFSA. There are many opportunities out there that will help you build a business, start a career. Living frugally is all well and good. And I have been there when I was a young college kid, but it gets old... And you will too. Good luck living like that when you are old. You may end up living on the streets... Which I have a feeling happens a lot.

While I would love to work only part time (maybe 3 full days a week or four 5 hour days) It’s not the reality; health insurance needed, mortgage, vehicle payment, working ft to contribute to 401k so I might be able to go part time when I retire!!
My husband was without a job for many years(extreme mental issues*) I work fulltime ..small business owner. He found a job 3 years ago and it helped us get out of 46k of debt(mostly student loans). Now we are to the point of where do we want to move and do with our lives. We live in 239 square feet of space with a ton of stuff (we got rid of so much) we are planning on 1 to 2 more years and it should afford us to have another paid off vehicle and possibly no payment on a house if it works out. I rather work 2 more years and then have more time freedom. I work really hard with my business and now work 7 months out of the year. I want a cushion, the extra money. I pretty much wasted 8 years of my life waiting for stuff to happen so I figure another 2 to get what I want isn't horrible.

And even had a job that didn't work out because the place didn't seem to have good intentions. The guy that owned it never paid me in full. It was always a little weekend money as he called it.

Gotcha. There isn't a black/white answer to this question. One of the benefits of being able to make money without working for someone else is we are able to be flexible in the way we make our money. So we would be able to work around certain disabilities. For example, if I became physically disabled, I would still be able to make YT videos. I have mentioned in previous videos that most of my family is autistic, which is considered a disability. Only about 30% of autistic adults are employed (ft or pt), so finding ways to make money beyond a typical job is extremely beneficial to those who are unable to hold a regular job. If we became so disabled we were unable to work at all, we still pay taxes on all our income and would qualify for SSDI. It is also necessary for us to plan for an income loss (which I have made many videos on) and save/plan for retirement. It is absolutely do-able to have a plan without relying on an employer to provide you with disability insurance. If one is so inclined, disability insurance can be purchased privately (but is probably only beneficial if you are making a high income).

@@sherij7330 We do not receive any disability payments for anyone in our family. Actually, only 5% of autistic adults receive SSI benefits. Receiving disability benefits is definitely not something the vast majority of disabled people would even qualify for. Not that I think any of us are "disabled" - that is just the label the medical community puts on anyone who doesn't follow a particular developmental path. It does absolutely make having a job more challenging though.
I began re-selling on ebay and I wish I've know about this venture when I was younger. Is hard work but I do from home and have quality time with my family. During covid was able to shop online for inventory and now I can go thrifting or estate/garage sales to purchase higher revenue items. Also, postman picks up sold packages from home; making it easier for me...Down side, you need space for inventory and knowledge is power; the more you learn/know about what sells for good profit, the higher your income...

It is not only the money that makes me want to get up in the morning and go to work. I love the environment and my co workers. I work at a school, and I appreciate the perks, (paid) long vacations, free phone, free gym, very good pension plan, reduced insurance through my Union. And with grown kids, its very nice to feel needed, and part of a team. And I believe the interaction with other people, spiritually, cultural, political, makes your brain work, and makes you a better person, as you might understand others better, and not being so fixated on an idea or meaning, you get sparring partners in a way. For most of us, the sole income is through our work, and you work too, with your side hustles. You might have more flexibility on your working hours, but I have one day off from work every week. 😊 I hope everything works out for you, and that you get a quick sale on your house. 💕

I couldn’t agree more! Lots of us work for the bare minimum whilst a few rich people make a ton of money. Our society doesn’t work. People are stressed and unhappy, trapped in awful jobs and living for the weekend. The tricky thing is accommodation costs. I couldn’t do what I wanted work wise until I was in my 50s and we paid the mortgage off. I wish we had tried harder earlier. Now my daughters can’t afford to buy houses. They are so expensive in this part of the uk. Their rents are hideously expensive too. It’s a rat trap for the young especially . As long as you don't end up taking from the subsidy pot, do your thing. Your housing, food, taxes, medical for your family should be covered by YOU, not the taxpayers. It feels as though the message most promoted in the U.S.and much of the industrialized world, due largely to the education system that was designed to crank out obedient little worker bees, tries to mold everyone into the go to school, get a job working for someone else, hope you can earn enough to get by, repeat until you die. I'm encouraged to see more of the younger generations breaking out of the mold. If we had a better health care system in the US that didn't tie people and their pre-existing conditions to an employer to keep their health insurance, if we recognized that with creativity not everyone needs a college degree and the debt that usually comes with one, and if more people were frugal and didn't buy into the marketing propaganda that has completely blurred the lines between wants and needs, there would be more people less dependent on outside employment to survive, but there are too many in power that don't want that to happen... I think it depends on your career . I know of career that you can get 6 figures with 37.5 hours per week. And some of those jobs you can do your hours in 3 days. So I think everything depends . If people don't want to study something in healthcare. I don't know how it will work. To be a self employed is not easy and it's like being on duty 24/7. I have see it with my own eyes. At least the hospital work when you go home you are at peace. You did your work and went home. When self employed your mind has to be on top of your business 24/7 it's exhausting.

Luckily I had a passion for my career and rarely felt like I was working. Everyone has to figure out what works for them. Glad you're showing some alternatives in your videos.
Currency and money are 2 different things. Saving currencies is like using a leaking gas can. Money is a store of value like gold and silver. Currencies loose value. Buying a cheap tax sale house helped us a bunch. Not paying mortgage or rent. I could be a vet tech but it don't pay the bills. So I do construction and also install and remove docks and boat lifts for winter or ice destroys them. Doing docks pays well for a seasonal business on the weekends. I pay by production because it's what it pays. Sometimes I give a F.U. price 3 times more than it should be and people say okay. Poverty is a choice. High populations and limited resources. Everywhere is hiring. It don't hurt to work and learn a skill. It's how I learned many construction trades.

I work two jobs. One is my own so I sort of set my own hours but I wouldn’t have much business if I didn’t jump when called. My “regular” job is 100% for the health insurance and to build a retirement savings. I wonder how your family has health insurance and how you plan to support yourselves when you physically can’t work? Obviously you had a substantial emergency fund to get you through when your husband lost your job but like you said that is not sustainable.
We actually didn't use any of our emergency fund to pay bills. We were making enough money with our side hustles to pay for everything while living on our bare bones budget - that was kinda the point of decreasing our expenses so low. But just until we could get our income up. We just chose to do that without getting job. We never have been without an income. And you can definitely save money and plan for retirement without having a job :)
Interesting you don’t consider your side hustles jobs. That’s great you could make that much though and not have to touch your emergency fund. Also it is known that most Americans don’t have an emergency fund anyway. I personally couldn’t go without health insurance. Just too scary. One accident and it’s all over. I am 52 and basically just starting retirement due to a divorce so I have to save a substantial amount each month genes why almost all my income from one job goes to that. I could not save that much with just my other job and I don’t have the time to only save smaller amounts. You are obviously hard workers and super smart with your money.

My son also believes in your philosophy and my question has always been, if everyone worked the way you suggest, how would bridges and buildings and homes get planned and built? How would food get grown, harvested, shipped, sold? How could police officers, FBI, CIA, security guards, military personnel keep citizens safe if they are home prioritizing their time? How does anything get built, fixed, maintained, bought, sold, etc if everyone is home enjoying their most precious commodity, which is time?
Everything that we enjoy, whether necessity or luxury, exists because someone else gave up their time in exchange for money to be a part of making it happen.
The lifestyle you described only works for a select few who benefit from the vast majority of others that give up their time to keep everything else functioning smoothly.

Has your husband thought about becoming an electrician? There is a plant in Stanton Tennessee, it’s a future ford plant. It’s being built. Jobs pay well out there. If your possibly interested. You could make a lot in a few months. Plus the towns near Stanton are small towns and cheaper. And have you thought about going to school? My husband, my father, my son and my grandfather were or are electricians. And you can make $40 plus an hour by going through the union school. It’s 2 nights a week while you work. Making great money and having a skill for life. It’s a 5 year school. Your husband would be a great electrician. And the union will have great insurance and retirement. You can travel while you work because once you are a journeyman electrician you can take big jobs all over the country and travel an work. We were told to try it once before my husband retires. But we rescue huskies so it’s kind of hard to travel with huskies. My husband will finish up the job in Stanton Tennessee then we are moving to live closer to our daughter in Florida. But a career as an electrician can afford you that life style and a good retirement. I was a licensed dental assistant. It paid well. I bought 2 homes as a single mom. I provided for my children. I became disabled in 2010. But I loved dental Assisting. It was fun and I was working with doctors all day. Had a good pay. And was off weekends and nights. I became disabled at 47. It was a real struggle. But my electrician husband pulled us through. We now own 5 properties. So please have your husband consider contacting the union hall it’s on Madison in Memphis Tennessee. I promise he would be well taken care of in the union. It’s a brotherhood.
Since moving back to Tennessee are you still able to do your side hustles like DoorDash and Instacart asking as a person who is in a rule area that doesn’t have those services and I’m on a very fixed income and cannot pay just the basics of bills I would like to know how or what I can do to supplement or make my money straight

We pay taxes on all our income, so will qualify for SS. Also have a plan/are saving for retirement 😊

Her family is on government assistant... So in another words, WE pay for her Medicaid, food card, etc.

I agree that time is all you have and that life shouldn’t be a grind for someone else.....just wondering how you are doing it....does you tube pay you enough to just get by? Or do you have a large sum saved and live off dividends??? That is the only thing I can think to do for ourselves....and we aren’t there yet but working on it every day. I’ve thought about a you tube channel....just wondering if it’s lucrative enough....
TH-cam has been paying pretty well. I have considered doing a video on how much I make doing YT. It's a lot of upfront work to get going before you start making decent money, but once you get there it is pretty nice :) I would say do it if you enjoy making videos! We have an emergency fund in savings, but its definitely not enough to produce dividends to pay for much of anything lol.
I'm in a similar place to you. I've stripped life bare and got back to basics whilst working several side hustles, which I am fine with. I don't want for much these days. But now I need one extra side hustle to tip the balance on 'in versus out' and allow me to keep my work-life balance and mean I'm not being ruled over by a boss turning my time into his profit margin. I'm not under a lot of pressure at the moment thankfully, so at least I can look around and see what will work for me.

I noticed that jobs are keeping us poor too. I am 37 years old, I have no kids, I live with my mom and dad, and I have two jobs, which means I work 11 hours Monday -Friday. And I save a lot of money but I noticed that the two jobs I have are not making me rich, no matter if I am saving $700 every Friday. Yeah it's good to be saving that much but ... I agree jobs don't make us rich it doesn't matter how much money you're making or saving.

For most people, jobs are a means to an end. At 17, I joined the military, married, had a child and stayed 10 years. After that, I worked 30 years, cared for a family, bought two houses, accumulated approximately 2 million dollars in cash, investments and property and retired at age 60. If you wait too long, that opportunity diminishes by the year!
I live in my mom's basement for free and ride a bike to work. Also get EBT card for food. No problem for me at all.

I respectfully disagree about nurses' pay being low. Nurses in my area can make $40 to $70 an hour or more.

Hubby is in healthcare . We decided early on if they wanted him to come in / stay late when he is not scheduled they would be paying significantly for that. They balked at first but they still call so 🤷♀️ We have no debt so he chooses to work or not .
