    The fact that this man took the young man in as his own, showed him love and compassion and care, will forever change that boys mindset. If his mother kicked him out, I’m assuming he also doesn’t have a daddy in his life, so that man who owns the bar will be his male role model/father figure, and it is so nice to see that because u can tell the boy genuinely loves it. He needed somebody in his life to care about him and want him to succeed and now he does and now he will.

    • @johnhurtme

      He still misnomered him in the puff piece as did the anchor and the correspondent they called him thief the moment that adulterous woman walked away from that wallet, it was no longer hers, I believe the legal term would be LOST. He thereafter FOUND the wallet, many of us who would search for the owner think of it as wrong. But our morality has no connection to him. Finders keepers, losers weepers. isnt the law, but it isa fairly good and arguable case. There is no law forcing you to seek out the owner of lost items in the street. It is ludicrous. All three kept calling him a thief like he lifted the wallet from her purse. She didnt she wasnt robbed she lost it. He didn't steal anything he found a wallet that is not a crime any more than picking up litter on the side of road would be stealing. A possession becomes LOST when that person, not in the course of looking for the possession walked away. He found the wallet on a bench on the street in the middle of the nignt. To call him a thief as if he stolen the wallet from her purse runs the risk not only of being amoral, but it is 100 percent liable and a defamation of character

      Jail would have sent him down the wrong path, this brought him on the right path.
      The US NEEDS to create a different style prison for first time offenders that focuses on rehabilitation and not punishment.
      Look to Norway, it works. It would not work for repeat offenders though... I think..
      One major problem is that prisons make money from people coming back. They WANT them to reoffend... And that's a huge problem..

    • @eca2641
      @eca2641 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andreas I agree on all counts except for the repeat offenders. Just means they need more time and attention. I have a really hard time believing that any of us, criminals or not, weren't built with a foundation of goodness. Crimes are a symptom of something broken. And then to send something that needs to be mended into a system extremely broken and created to keep a spirit down and captive is a societal issue, a massive mistake on many levels.

    • @AndreasEUR
      @AndreasEUR 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eca2641 So you believe you can take your worst criminals and put them in Norwegian-style prisons and they'll all be smelling flowers with Ferdinand under a tree afterwards?
      If that's what you believe you're delusional.
      Change must happen with first-time offenders so they do not become repeat-offenders. Some repeat-offenders might qualify to be transferred to such a prison, but they would be an extreme minority I think..
      Another big issue is that the information that should be between a person and the government is free for all to look up.. If someone did time for something, thats a matter between government and the person in question, nobody else..
      Criminal history should not be available through FOIA requests.
      Where I live it's very strict who can get information like this. Certain jobs require that we go get documentation from the police on priors. Depending on what a person is applying for the crime might be listed, or it might just say " Nothing relevant" which can mean no crimes at all, or no crimes that are relevant..
      When a person has served their time all their rights should be given back to them. All citizens should have the right to vote regardless of what they have done.
      Life in prison is a cruel punishment.
      Take that florida shooter for example. He does deserve some years behind bars, but I think he should be released if he's no longer a threat, maybe in ~15-20 years.. All people deserve a second chance regardless of what they have done.

    • @eca2641
      @eca2641 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andreas that wasn't a very inviting way to potentially disagree with a person, first off. Just because there's a chance someone has an opinion different than yours means defensiveness comes into play far too often and we need to be aware of that. Gotta remember that we all figure (and very automatically) that wherever we stand in whatever belief, we're the correct ones. It's embedded in our history to do this. But then the little trickles of defensiveness and anger, projection lead to full out hatred and disgust. We are all wired to do this but, it's not especially supportive toward the health of a society and we can make conscious changes. We desperately need to make conscious, educated changes in regards to what cognitive dissonance quickly turns into.
      My feelings on repeat offenders aren't so black and white. But to keep this general I don't agree with the methods of the US's justice system. I don't agree with a basis of pure punishment when you're dealing with humans. That's a very barbaric response that does what for the repeat offender? Doesn't really seem like it's about them at all. Seems it's about making the victims feel vindicated, at least as a facade. Which isn't to say I don't feel extremely empathic toward victims but it is to say that it's not logical in either direction. Unless of course we don't care about rehabilitation of criminals, if we flush the validity of their lives, their histories as fellow humans prior to any criminal act down the toilet once they've become criminals which is the case today. I care about the whole of the species, so to speak, its history and its progressive evolution from this moment and the next and well to the distant future, each tiny point important. At this point it's difficult to say how much of the way we treat each other, the ridiculously hollow and evidence-debunked rules of society that have been built and the extremely frivolous ways we treat the significance of being a complex being results in criminals having become criminals, but I feel it's quite a bit. Our economic system and its heirachy, things like racism, misogynistic conditionings, and all the ways we've been purposefully trained to look down upon the person next to us from macro to micro, power, control, subservience and then ignoring the fact that we're emotionally and psychologically based beings all plays into all of the negative happenings in our world, in this country, throughout all of our planet. So it's not that I think, specifically that repeat offenders should also have a "Norwegian style prison" experience, it's that I think we all need many, many changes to all the "systems" unsupportive of who we are and how we function as humans. A complete upheaval as too much of what we have right now was created without the intentions of supporting those things and far more for a select few and their limiting ideas and very much centered in individual power and control over the masses. Until then, if we need to keep these criminals from doing harm I'll be honest and say, idunno what we do exactly...but they and our society deserve attempts at rehabilitating them but to what? And how do we support this with our current embarrassment of an economy? With the power struggle and endless lies and manipulations of and within the system/systems currently in place? I don't know what that looks like without massive rehabilitation of our species. I don't know where a starting point is even available if we're not willing to take leaps instead of cautious, tiny wriggles.
