    Our most special cat Delphaeo Marsalis Farris died this morning around 3am. Playing this for him. He was 20 1/2 years old. We loved sharing your name...although we spelled it "ph" because we had another all grey cat , a girl whose name was Delphi.

    being a trumpet player i came close to not giving this selection a listen, the marsalis name will be in music conversations generations from now, even after we are long gone,as i listened to how other trumpet players chose to present this armstrong classic, only a couple of them impressed me, i truly am surprised that my choice for best selection will be given to a trombone player,kudos to you mr. delfeayeo marsalis job well done.

      The trombone is the closest thing to the human voice.

    • @ivandavidparra
      @ivandavidparra 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Chris Harrison can a euphonium glis from an E natural bottom of the bass cleff to a Bb 2nd line with absolutely no breaks.
      it can't, i play both : )
      the human voice can and so can all fretless instruments.
      ;)

    • @ivandavidparra
      @ivandavidparra 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Chris Harrison lol
      the reason I brought that up is because the human voice and fretless instruments are the only ones that can do this.
      This is why the trombone plays on a way bigger variety of genres that the baritone.
      I only use Google to help me with thinks that I dont know or dont have any experience with.
      if you think delfeayos trombone sound is harsh than we need not to be discussing the matter at hand.

    • @hyperlurki5587
      @hyperlurki5587 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      We could argue about this for ages. Or, like the sensible and knowledgeable human beings I know we are, we could realize that the title "closest to the male voice" is entirely subjective and opinions fuel the receiving instrument of that title. Tone plays a very big part in this, and tone is up to the individual player. Hearing this as well as many other trombone players in smoother selections, such as Wycliffe Gordon, my own band director, and Bill Watrous, I can say that I myself believe the trombone is worthy of receiving this title. It is more versatile than the euphonium, which is why you see it in plenty more genres than the euphonium. Not to discredit the euphonium by any means, as sometimes it can also sound like a male voice (see David Childs' Variations on the Carnival of Venice, with the BBC Orchestra). You're both correct depending on who you ask, and again I shall say it's an entirely subjective matter. Best wishes! :)

      A euphonium can play the same range as a trombone just different tone
