    Well well well!! Another great video. Tomorrow I will change out my u-joints on both front axles. Your step by step instructions and videos gives me the confidence to tackle these projects on my trusty TJ that I will never part company with.

      Changing out U joints can be tough. The BFH makes it easy! Using C clips rather than full circle snap rings makes it easier to, it's just they are prone to easier failure than the snap rings.

      @@TheBFHGarage Hey Mike! Already installed the damned Spicer c-clips because old habits + beer. In your opinion, is the added security of the snap rings worth likely ruining this set of u-joints (and buying a new pair) by trying to press them out to get the snap rings on?
      (Edited for clarity)

      No, probably not worth it unless you play in the rocks a lot. If you want to use circle clips on stock axles, you will have to grind away part of the ear.

      @@TheBFHGarage Guess I play in the rocks enough to make it worth ordering a new set of u-joints. In the end I guess it's pointless to install $1100 shafts then scoff at another 80 bucks for some additional piece of mind.
      Thanks for the input

      @@jtmilliken if you already have chromo shafts then take them apart... You don't need new u joints just because you took them apart. Just be careful. A BFH is better than a press, remember that. Make sure they can take circle clips or you have the ability to make them fit.

    Thanks for your great content. Your ARB locker videos came in handy, and after a weekend of wheeling I might be put I'd be putting in new axle shafts. Was bound up on a rock and something popped pretty loud in the front. Lost 4 wheel drive and At 1st I was thinking it was my differential or t case but there's no Noise so I'm hoping that it is myAxle shaft.

    Good instructions. Looks straightforward to do. Thank you. Do you know which ujoints come from factory in jeep JL (2018-21) Dana 44 adventek m210 axle? Can the jl or gladiator be upgraded to 1350? Thanks

      As far as i know the JL uses the 5-760x same as the TJ. I'm not sure if they make a 1350 version aftermarket chromoly shaft for the JL yet. Try calling Revolutin Gear and Axle and see what they have to say. Post up here what you find out!

    Which type of grease can be used on the axle shaft seal section? Lucas red n tacky would be ok?

    What’s your opinion on folks saying that you shouldn’t put chromo shafts in a Dana 30 due to the fact that the ring and pinion becomes the weak point?
    I ask because I have a hp30 in my Tj with a Spartan locker helical LSD and 4.88 gears, would you recommend these 1350 shafts for my application on 35’s?

    • @TheBFHGarage
      @TheBFHGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Something will always be the weakest link in reality. Do you want to replace axle shafts all the time or take the chance that you would need to replace the R&P? I see nothing but stock axle shaft/Ujoint breaks and the only one R&P failure. The right thing to do is install chromo shafts and not look back. It does make all the difference. There are 4 jeeps in our group that wheel D30 with 35's and on pretty difficult rock trails too. No problems. The key is not to throttle your way through everything. Technical crawling will get you where you need to go.

    Does anyone know if these will swap directly into a Dana 30 with CV axles? Or do I need to find some steering knuckles from a ZJ that has U joints?

      I would think they'd work, BUT do yourself a favor and call Revolution directly. Very helpful in helping figure things out👍

    Hi mate, are they good enough to run 37”?

    • @TheBFHGarage
      @TheBFHGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      The shafts are but the axle itself isn't. Dana 30's and Dana 44's use the same ball joints which wear out very quickly on 37's. 37's also require bigger brakes. Too much rolling mass to call it good. Have people done it? Yes. IMHO 35's max.

    • @TheBFHGarage

      If you're referring to the plastic pieces just outside of the axle tube, then no. D30 and D44 front axle seals are inboard.

      @@TheBFHGarage Yup, those are what I was asking about. Thanks for the response. Any idea why Chrysler added them considering the other cost saying measures they went through?

    • @TheBFHGarage
      @TheBFHGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Amorget I've heard a couple of different versions. First and most likely was that is you get a seal leak it keeps the oil from getting to the rotors. What seems more logical to me is simply to keep big chunks of rocks or debris from entering the axle tube and binding the shaft.
