Lovely river. Those knee pads look great!! I've been unable to find anything like that. The statement about fail to prepare is oh so true. Done some of my best mumbling and swearing when I've not prepared correctly.
I learnt to fish on the River Tees at Cotherstone as a boy. Now live in Cornwall. Currently falling in love with a lovely little stream called the Ottery. Heading back up there in three weeks to Barnard Castle and my favourite river in the world.
Hi Patrick, depends on the river, for the Tees I used a Wychwood 9' 6" rod for duo and dry and a HanaK Superb 10' for bugs. The rigging foam case was from here www.flyfishnorth.com/product-page/rig-winder-holder-foam I notice they are out of stock. I hope that helps pal.
Great intro into river comp fishing. Hope it went well mate 👍
Cheers pal, just on route to Wales. Left the fishing kit at home just going to chill. 👍

Weekly occurrence for me Bob....lol. I don't think they make the ones I have anymore. I have been working on a design for new ones with Wychwood.
Seem well prepared! You didn’t mention a pair of line nippers? I suspect you have them in there somewhere?
Good luck!
Hi Mike, yes they were on a zinger attached to the chest pack pal.

Sounds great!
Looks fantastic! Would you know where I could get a permit for that stretch?
Hi Oscar, yes the local coop does them as well as the town butcher. You can also get tickets at the High force hotel.
Snips and a small flannel for taking most of the moisture out of your dries?
Nice one David.
Hey Lindsay, we have some great weather up North
Lol …. I know👍
Two questions:
What rods do you bring for river comp days?
Can you give the name for that rigging foam case?
Cheers

The waters of the northeast are the place we both cut our teeth as fly flingers. Looking forwards to the match blog soon
Aye, good days.
Water bottle?
I use a bladder that fits into the back pouch takes just under a litre.
Oh and I’ll bet you’ve got some forceps in that chest pack somewhere. I hope so anyway!
Sure do buddy ;-) Thanks for watching.
You forgot a hip flask of whiskey 😉
Took bottles ;-)
Forget your glasses cuz that's what I do when I hit the river. 🇺🇸
Can’t tie a fly on without them Shawn I would have to go home 🤣
Knee pads look suspiciously like ex Police PSU ones.
No these are purpose made, but will keep my eye out for the PSU ones ;-).
