With chooks I had experienced more male through summer and more female from winter. With the actual egg the smaller eggs are always boys because they are warmer than the bigger eggs. All this coincides with your experience. Higher heat higher numbers of males. I'm also noticing the simease fighting fish are the same.
My plecos really like repashy morning wood. It will last a long time in the tank without messing with the water quality. It might be something to try out for when your on trips, just have someone drop a chunk in the tank and that's it. You don't really over feed with it.

Thank you for your answer. I think when older guppy females drop fry multiple times, they get bend spines. Correct me if I'm wrong. Also when they drop fry, they seem to be weakened and don't eat so good and clamed fins... :S So sad to see them like that.
I don't think putting her in the Oscar tank is inhumane. I wish I had an oscar so I could cull. I have three severely bent spines in one of my guppy tanks and I have no idea what to do with them. My husband won't let me have any more tanks so I'm at a loss. If they breed and its genetic, then I'm screwed.

my fry came out completely half black,not just the tail,literally half black,i dont know what type they are? they look like yours,but way more black.
