That last bull was a monster. The wild bovids like the aurochs of Europe were magnificent animals according to historical accounts. I find the subject fascinating.
It's also fascinating that Banteng and Gaur occupy the same environment. They are very similar species. As auroch and wisent which lived together in European forests
How this two similar species Banteng and Gaur coexist in the same environment. I reckon they occupy similar niche. Makes me wonder how a few centuries ago auroch and wisent coexisted in European forests
The best way of appreciating the wild life is to see and hear. The video is very good, no doubt about that, but completely spoilt by the music. Why could You not keep the beautiful forest background sounds ? Anyone ever read Jim Corbett's books will love to hear the jungle sounds. Do You have the original version with natural sounds ?
Excellent,excellent!!....very good video!!....greats & beautiful bovids,''Banteng and Gaur''....prevent that these rare three wild cattle,no die,no extinction in the future....greats images,great video;thanks for upload!!....greetings from Chile-South America....excelente video,de dos de los mas raros bovidos salvajes;aun vivientes en Asia....ojala hubieran imagenes del Kouprey(quiza el mas raro de los tres),buenisimas tomas e imagenes!!....gracias por subirlo a TH-cam!!....
Nice video! Your right, we have to protect these beautiful bovids, the Gaur and the Banteng. The Kouprey already became extinct and we have to prevent that these two wild cattle die out in the near future!
Ah... beautiful banteng... one of my favourite animals to film int the Thai forests. You can see more banteng footage from Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary here...... th-cam.com/video/c_dBHlht5hU/w-d-xo.html
I've heard (herd?) that it's the opposite. Bison bulls display behavior that unnerve cattle. The reciprocal hybrid (domestic bull × bison cow) is much more common.
Can be a hope for Kouprey reintroduction in future. Hope we get some technology. And the best should be the possibility of getting some wild Kouprey in forests of Cambodia.
You are correct, both species are classified within the genus Bibos, which also contains the kouprey, Bibos is a genus of cattle native to Southern Asia, there are three extant species within this genus, the Kouprey (Bibos sauveli), the Banteng (Bibos javanicus (cladistically including the Bali Cattle (Bibos javanicus domesticus))), and the Gaur (Bibos gaurus (cladistically including the Gayal/Mithun (Bibos gaurus frontalis))), it is known that the Gaur (Bibos gaurus) is the type species of this genus, Bibos is also hinted to be the most basal extant genus of true cattle (subtribe Bovina).
That big bull in the end could well be a hybrid. Male gaurs readily mated, in the past, with domestic cows in heat left tied to the trees and stakes in India. The hybrid thus born is called a Mithun. th-cam.com/video/6bY1EFr3BxU/w-d-xo.html
You are mistaken, mithuns are the domesticated version of Gaur. Mithuns are to Gaur what cattle are to aurochs or domesticated water buffaloes (bubalus bubalis) is to Asian wild buffaloes (bubalus arnee). Mithuns are descendants of gaurs not a cross between cattle and gaur.
@@elhombredeoro955 Buddy do some research! Mithuns originated as hybrids but now due to the Gaur being extinct in Naga Land they can be considered a breed. But they have a lot of zebu blood in them. The shape of their horns is a testament to that. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gayal. doi.org/10.1016%2FS1673-8527%2807%2960045-9. CITATIONClose [6] Payne, W. J. A. (1970). "Breeds and Breeding VI". Thailand should be proud of its range of wildlife..it has. Great video Bruce!!!

Sunil P S I agree
I guess this is made with a trail cam so sound quality is provably poor or absent.
Looked like balinese cow....and banteng jawa, in indonesia banteng meaning is wild bull

Wow I always thought about how cattle became domestic. Banteng explains the existence of wild bovids. So damn eye opening.
Wtf is music for
Save banteng
Do you know that they were released in Norther Australia in the 19th century and now are feral in the Cherbourg Peninsula
This is unique species I have ever seen . I think it's related to indian Gaur
Is there one without the loud music and just with the natural ambiance?
What kind of stupid editing is this blurring the video every time?
Please dont kill will cattles.. let the wild belong to nature
Ant there a island or some place where bantang are huntable?
Australia
The reason why I asked is I had a vha tape with a dude hunting them are that really in australia are that on the northern teatroyies ?
www.altinawildlife.com/banteng/ yes
Almost like a cross between cattle and deer.
Bet thay are good eating.
Beautiful footage, amazing bovids. Protect them
This gives me a great insight of what the auroch would have been in the far past of Europe. Thanks for the footage! It's really great!
Yes. Bruce's camera-trap work in Thailand has given us some great insights into the life of our wildlife here.

Same IND Mithun and gour
We humans have a tendency to forget that, all our livestock came from the wild.
It's also true that by cross breeding, new species have been created .
Why did you pause and contrast the video while playing,it became disgusting.
But female defrand
Banteng a pure gene of wild cattle or a hybrid of Gaur the Bison ... ⁉️.
I thought Banteng is an Indonesia word, used also for wild cattle of Java Island?
I am wondering why there is not a hybrid species , American bison take to domestic cows very easily
There are many domestic hybrids throughout SE Asia between banteng and other species of cattle.
I've heard (herd?) that it's the opposite. Bison bulls display behavior that unnerve cattle. The reciprocal hybrid (domestic bull × bison cow) is much more common.
these look like the wild species in Hong Kong
No tree,no jungle,no jungle no forest n no more wildlife stop lodging please..
Domestication is the breeding of brains and instincts out.
such dramatic music. such a great day to be a banteng.
Can it be domesticated?
Yes..bos javanicus domesticus(Bali cattle) for example.
@A. Hâm, the scientific name of the bali cattle is actually Bibos javanicus domesticus.
They're good for milk and pulling carts
Can be a hope for Kouprey reintroduction in future. Hope we get some technology. And the best should be the possibility of getting some wild Kouprey in forests of Cambodia.
Yes
Like it
Australia has wild Banteng and people pay money to hunt them
Introduced to australia in 1849
I think they are closely related to our Indian gaur

Beautiful animals and look amazingly strong also.
Looks like Indian bission
😍😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
so butyful animal
Domesticate them
in bali they are domesticated

A little rectification :It's 'Methun ' not Mithun.
