    Hey everyone! In today's video I am testing out the 0-60 (0 to 60, zero to sixty) mph in my zf 8 speed automatic 2017 Dodge Challenger 392 Hemi Scat Pack Shaker. We find out how quick this 485 horsepower muscle car really is! The results will shock you! I'm a little embarrassed that my 0-60 mph was so much higher than the posted times by Dodge but at the same time I am quite a bit above sea level and I was in some very hot temperature. I also don't have the best tread on my tires and i'm not a professional race car driver. Ultimately it's much slower than expected due to the lack of traction. Where this muscle car really thrives is at freeway pulls and putting a smile on my face.
    What is your best 0-60 and at what elevation? Leave your comments below! Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more content and find me on Instagram @SchwayZ_

    The Shaker hood scoop is *NOT* just an "appearance item." It's an open, active scoop assembly that is mounted on the engine and "adds to the cold air charge." It's called a "Shaker" hood scoop because of the fact that it is a fixed to the engine so, when sitting at idle (at a light, i.e.), the scoop would "shake" with the movement of the engine lope at idle speed. In the original Shaker cars which had noisy, camed-up engines that "said something" at idle because they weren't computer controlled to be excessively smooth, it was even more impressive. My Shaker ('22 Scat Challenger in Tor-red) still shows some movement at the light, though not as much but, it's still my favorite and *only* choice if I want a new Challenger. I really just don't care for the hood mounted scoops offered today.

    I suspect the elevation is really hurting you. I rented a 5.7 Challenger in Las Vegas and drove it up to Bryce Canyon. I definitely noticed a difference in how powerful the car felt. Thought it was my imagination at first though.

  • @gelley46

    You did address this in the vid but it's a huge deal for NA engines. Anyone knows with a NA engine air density is key. Meaning smaller closely packed denser air molecules. When at higher elevation the molecules become larger thus not as much power is released from the combustion. Smaller, denser molecules at sea level with cooler air will give a much bigger explosion from the compressed gases in the cylinder. Basic physics. The density of air decreases with altitudes thus your slower times. My 2015 SP Charger gets 4.5 all day on summer 275 tires. I've never been to the track with it but I'm sure a 4.1 or 4.2 is there with a proper launch.

    My manual 2014 392 tac was telling me 3.4-3.5 sec 0-60. I had 275s on the back and 245s on the front. Only mods were straight pipes and one piece aluminum driveline. I can be done. You just have to kno what your doing.

  • @TrackPackRT
    @TrackPackRT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Some Nitto 555Rs will let you hook up. After I put them on my car I couldn’t even do donuts anymore, they just grab too much. Also try to let your car cool off quite a bit between runs and you’ll shave some more time off. Elevation will hold you back for sure, it’s bad enough for me at 2300fasl. At 4000+ it’s going to prevent you from getting what other people would consider impressive times at sea level, but at least you could compare to other 392s in your area to see what they run 0-60 to judge your progress.

  • @davidovercash9039
    @davidovercash9039 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I own the same car, Shaker package and all. You first mistake was putting the 315’s on the back. The cars computer is very confused. Second, you can’t just floor it. You have to modulate the gas pedal. Third, the altered exhaust system probably results in a loss of 50 horses and could make the car overheat. Any changes not recognized by the computer will affect performance and possibly heat. My quickest 0-60 time on the stock tires is 3.0 seconds. That was unusual but real. My average time on stock tires is 4.4 seconds. I live in New Jersey at just a few feet above sea level. Also, all my 0-60 attempts were on public roads, mostly at stop lights.

    The Scats are badass cars. I wanted to get one but frankly they were just too expensive, which I could have accepted, but the deal breaker was that you can't have them with a manual transmission. I got a 370Z instead and with mods, a tune, and good rear tires I can get mid 4 second times 0-60. The massive torque of the Scat is its Achilles heel. On a prepped drag surface it doesn't matter as much, but on the street a lot of guys just spin the tires.
