I would agree if it was during the Raditude/Hurley era, but ever since EWBAITE and White (even a bit of P.D); Rivers has had extremely meaningful and developed lyrics on his songs. Heck, I would say that lyrics in the sessions of albums such as: Green, Maladroit, Album 5, Red (underrated), and even Make Believe; Rivers has still put out his lyrical power at work. Of course some lyrics may come out as nerdy or weird (what mainstream-attached people would call: "cringe"). But hey, that's what Weezer is: a bunch of nerds rocking out.
He is a music genius, not that good on football, but you have to remember he is not a young man anymore, so I think he had a good performance at the game, scoring a goal and having fun!

No. Rivers isn't famous because of some shallow rapper. He's the brains behind one of the highlights of alternative rock, and an incredibly influential band. He writes with real musicianship...you know...actual INSTRUMENTS. We know him from Weezer, and that's how millions do. Far before B.o.B. was around. That "musician" is an example of what's wrong with pop music, and should never be held responsible for bringing attention to Rivers. Weezer is bigger B.o.B. could ever wind up.

And they call the worlds most popular sport, which is basically known world-wide as football, and call it soccer, and call their sport football, when it has barely anything to do with the foot, basically just Rugby with protection....
