GIRL. You have helped me change my perception of shopping- Before i found your channel a little while ago, I was addicted to buying things like crazy, to the point that I had to just not buy anything at all, ESPECIALLY from sephora, just so i wouldn't go wild and spend all of my money. Watching your videos has helped me to reign in my spending to a much better place through increasing my level of critical thinking and analyzing the necessity of makeup products that I already have or have a substitute for. I went from having barely $60 bucks in my bank account every week, to currently having saved up $2200 dollars in savings. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart
You are the force standing between my wallet and bad decisions. Therapy is expensive but your videos are free. "We are going to be as critical as possible" - I am sat down and listening!!
the way my eyes WIDENED at the YSL “blushes”. I understand color theory and enjoy makeup, but i wouldn’t have thought of the mixing pigments aspect until you said something. 😂 And honestly, for that much money, i would love for the product to just be an ideal color. Who has the storage or the money to buy a color you might like PLUS an additional tint to customize it? and from an expensive brand? Bc now you may not get the ideal color each time you do your makeup, meaning you may have to use more of the product if you wanna adjust the shade. Too much hassle for the consumer, considering the little effort by the manufacturer.
The only one I can see of any use is the yellow one and I'm basing that on a yellow blush I own that I use to tone down my blush if I've gone overboard. White is too stark of a color that tends to make things look milky instead of just a little lighter
Tbh i’m excited for the colourpop blushes because of the heart on the cap making it easier to twist open. My mom has a mini of the rare beauty blush and she raves about the top bc she has a disability that weakens her hands, so with colourpop’s i can get her more blush shades at a way more affordable price
I can only comment on the Fenty lipstick and lip liner. The lip liner is amazing - it's smooth like butter and stays on your lips for many hours! I've tried all the colors and my favorite so far is the color Riri convination . The lip liner will leave a stain on your lips, which I think is a plus because I can use it on its own and blot it if I need a wash of color. Now, onto the lipstick! The lipstick is amazing; unlike the lip liner, it doesn't last as long, but it shines on its own, literally! All the colors are wonderful and will suit a range of skin tones. The texture is magnificent, it glides on like a balm, feels like suede, and looks like a gloss. The scent is great and it even tastes good.
Eyeshadow is my favorite makeup product and I just got the Yucca palette from ND and it's my favorite purchase of the year. So yes, when you remove yourself from the 'necessary trends' and let yourself have fun, eyeshadow becomes a really fun way to experiment with your look.
The fenty lip stain in berry banger and the all over diamond bomb in the white shade are two of my holy grail products!! I love the all over diamonds bomb for inner corner highlight-it’s SUCH a pretty shade that’s super fine and can easily be built up :)
I absolutely love the Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veils; HOWEVER, I *DON'T* think you're going to like them if you don't like a sheer (but buildable) blush with a dewy, luminous, lightweight sort-of finish. If anything, one of the sole reasons *why* I like them so much is *because* they're dewy, luminous, and lightweight! In short, it's perfect IF you like a "no makeup makeup" look, but if you don't, I honestly don't know if you're going to like them!
hiiii elle!!! I found your channel through this type of videos, and I started binge watching your channel, I honestly feel like you are a breath of fresh air in the beauty community here on TH-cam, love your content keep doing you!!!💞💞
Am I the only one who’s so tired of everything (the packaging) being baby pink or neutrals in general? It’s not that I hate the color but everything is looking THE SAME! 😭
Same, especially with summer allergies. I haven't worn eyeshadow in about four years. No foundation either, just sunscreen, spf tinted lip balm. Vaseline after eyecream nightly and I've noticed such an improvement overall.😊
My thoughts throughout the video. Sorry, I'm a very long-winded person 🙃 • Ah, your comic sans...but real talk I think that's an in-brand font for glossier because I'm pretty sure I have a sticker from them with that font • colourpop has always had bland blush and highlighter ranges. I mostly notice this as a dark-skinned black woman because every time a collection comes out with a blush or highlighter, it's the blandest light color that will look ashy on me. The only time they have solid shade ranges is when they're coming out with staple products like these where they're building up on their standard products that people can rebuy at any time instead of everything being limited and you can only rebuy when in stocks. • My only staple from Fenty is the gloss bomb heat in hot chocolit. It's the perfect neutral brown that doesn't lean to orange or red so I love it. Which is probably why I, a 30-year-old woman, would wear black lip gloss. Because it's sheer it tones down the warm tones which I as a person with an olive undertone love because both of those tend to stand out on my skin in ways I don't particularly like. It's kind of like the Youthforia 600 controversy, it can't be used as a mixing shade because it cancels out a lot of the undertones (brings down the contrast) which is something I want in a lip product, not my foundation. • I am actually an eyeshadow girly. It's like my bread and butter because for the first 26 years of my life, that's all I wore in terms of makeup. Now that I'm more into makeup I find myself doing a lot of creative eye looks. That being said, after using one ND mini palette, I'm pretty sure I hate the formula. It takes a lot of work to get the shimmer to show up how I want and doesn't have enough transition shades even within the tiny color story. So nope. • I was never the audience for the Louis Vuitton lip gloss, but that packaging is very on par with them. I think they do have weight to them and it's advertised for that price completely because of the packaging because it's a version of their red bottom heels. I think their lipstick have the same kind of packaging. • The thing about the Kardashian/Jenner clan is that they very much so are about slapping their name on a product and that being the only thing that sells it. That's the entire reason any of them are famous, for selling themselves, so having products with their names on it just looks tacky. It's reminiscent of having a Hannah Montana backpack as a kid. It makes it merch instead of a product and I think that's why it puts you off because you want nice products that look good on you and your vanity.
I love your effort in leaving a comment and will always appreciate it. 🥹♥️ - I think I've seen it somewhere too. It still feels off-brand and I hate the blotchy effect on the packaging. I'd love to learn the context behind when they use it! - Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this about Colourpop! - The black gloss is also described as a gunmetal and its semi sheer, so I think it makes it even better! - I want to be an eyeshadow girly so badly. But I cant where it for too long because it causes discomfort. - Yes, I’ve seen the packaging many times. This is the first time I’ve paid more close attention. But again, maybe there’s a history to their choices I don’t understand. Either way I still hate it. 😆 - I think the feeling of “tackiness” you described is spot on. I feel more willing to by Rare Beauty or Rhode because it doesn’t explicitly have their name.
The Fenty eaze drop foundation (the liquid version, not stick) is my holy grail foundation!! It’s sooo good and i think a big part of it is that I have a near perfect shade match. ❤
I think something colourpop could have done is a nice light purple blush, it would have added a nice pop of colour to their range but also been completely functional as on darker skin purple can look like a bubblegum pink blush and it would have made the shade range more inclusive, and even on lighter skin it can still look cute and unique, and i think it would have made the realease more relevant because i dont think many brands have released purple liquid blushes, and it would have just made the release so much more true to their colourful fun branding. and its a really big missed opportunity
The YSL mini clutch eyeshadow price is crazyy. I will be shocked if anyone buys it but I know people will. It's nothing creative and you can get a better range from other brands like Makeup by Mario.
Ur vids are amazing! I’ve been buying lowkey the wrong makeup for years (mostly off of impulse) and you’ve really helped me cater my collection to my needs!! 💕💕💕💕
Most of the liquid and cream blushes Ive bought dont last until the evening on me, except the Juvias Place blushes (wich is why they became my go to). JP blushes are the type you need to put on your hand and pick up product from there because they are so pigmented, but the outstanding longevity of wear wakes it worth it. Wish I knew of another liquid blush that lasted that long and didnt cause breakouts.
I ended up buying the colourpop liquid blushes and I actually enjoy them! I love that rare beauty has matte options, but I don’t wanna fuss with the pigmentation. It’s too strong and difficult to blend. Colourpop is less pigmented, but still plenty pigmented enough. It blends much more easily
Unrelated to makeup but I would go insane if I lived somewhere that my neighbors constantly blasted music all day. I am so sensitive to noise. I feel for you!
I found the mbm cream blush to be wayyyy to balmy, no matter how I applied it (bare skin, over powder, before powder, brush, fingers) it was always so patchy and it would get worse during the day. My favourite cream blush is the Henty one, good glow, pigmentation and blends like a dream. For reference I have dry acne prone skin :)
I mostly get indiee eyeshadow palettes. I tried a couple of Sephora palettes: ABHx Jackie Aina, ND Bronze, Glam, My Dream, Mini Gold, UD Wild Greens, Huda Empowered and one of the 6 pans, Sephira brand palettes, nothing impressed me as a whole. There was always something that made them not worth the price: dud shades, repetitive colors, hard to use textures, midtones meant for lighter skintones, dissapointing formulas. How can I be happy buying those when everytime I buy a Sydney grace palette I get a perfect palette, lux textures, great pigmentation and zero duds? My favorite palettes in my stash are from Sydney Grace and BH Cosmetics, and in 3rd place perhaps Blend bunny.. id have to think about that 3d place a little. It's not that I won't get any more BB palettes, it's that the matte formula often has to be stippled on first, and then blended using smaller brushes brushes. So buyers used to only using blending motions to apply eyeshadow might be dissapointed, although perhaps natural hair brushes could help a little in that regard. Judging from the brushes BB have released though, the style of blending I mentioned is def what they are designing with in mind.
i saw the colourpop liquid blushes in-store and i was pretty excited at first. colourpop was my first favorite makeup brand in high school when i was just getting started. i swatched them, though, and you were definitely right about it being unambitious. i don’t know if it was just my skin, but they went on very sheer? whereas if i swatched my rare beauty liquid blush or one of the juvia’s place blushes in-store, barely a tap of the applicator and that stuff is everywhere (in a good way)! if you’re looking for a super pigmented liquid blush, i don’t think the colourpop ones are the way to go. excellent review and excellent video 👏 ps, i actually love fenty! my grail products are the gloss bomb universal lip luminizer in fu$$y and the killawatt freestyle highlighter in girl next door/chic freak (but i always try to see if it’s ever on sale bc it’s soooo pricey 😭)

@@ellerchu I actually did watch that! It was so good 😊 I meant that I was looking forward to your new releases videos. Thank you for being so consistent. 🫶🏼💕
I'm always extremely suspicious of cosmetic brands that put any focus on extremely marked up merch. They are essentially getting people to PAY the company to advertise for them...totally backwards. Any brand willing and able to do this is clearly more keen on marketing an image, lifestyle, or identity than relying on the actual merit of their products. Big red flag. Merch of this kind used to be given away free, by the way.
Have you tried the Sabrina carpenter perfumes? The original sweet tooth perfume intrigued me but i was not sure how long it lasts for or if it is good quality?
I’m in this horrible mindset that I’m not interested in the makeup brands at Sephora unless they’re Givenchy , Dior, Ysl, Armani, charlotte tilbury, hourglass. Like the real expensive brands Sephora carries lol. It’s bad but I will say those brands have not failed me. I’m really enjoying all the new makeup I get from those brands. My makeup comes out flawless when I use these products and last 10+ hours.
The « white » blush seems to be blue. There’s a trend in china of blue blush because it brightens. I feel like this is an asia release like the cushion fondation
i definitely still use my eyeshadow palettes but will not be buying new ones at least right now because i feel like all the newer releases are so boring and not worth buying a new palette. i'll stick with my expired naked 2 and the few singles i've acquired over the years. i have one Juvia's palette for rainbow colors and that's good enough. no one has put out anything i want to buy lately
I am definately getting one of the fenty lip liners, I have been wait for lip liners for fenty for years, as they kept releasing all these other lip products but no liners and I always thought it was odd. I feel like finally my wish has come true! I like the way they are the creamy kind rather than the firm traditional pencil kind
I think moreso that the glossier merch is put at a higher price point and made in small batches that go out of stock quickly because they want to create a sort of exclusivity around being a "glossier girl". Just like how if everyone could buy an LV bag it wouldn't be so exclusive anymore, and these merch items are way more on display (when in use by the customer) than their usual makeup products. Kind of like being a walking billboard.
I've been trying to dupe a 4$ catrice lip gloss that was discontinued for ONE YEAR NOW. Nothing's the same color. I hate to see that that pink in the Christian Louboutin gloss is that same pink color that I want. I'm not gonna BUY IT, I do hate to see it however. Why can't, like, two faced make that pink or something 😭
@@ellerchu Yes!! The closest I've gotten is that Sephora Collection bunny tongue gloss but that one's more peachy/warm than what I'm looking for 🙂↕️ It'll have to do though
It’s too hot, don’t suffer without ac, we prob won’t hear it anyway :). I always thought glossier was the original liquid blush then it was em cosmetics or flower beauty next. I don’t like the rare beauty blushes, they’re too hard to blend. I thought the white ysl blush was a cool tone pink lol. Was tempted by abh blush but didn’t get it
See I have to disagree with your liquid blush take lol Rare beauty are the ones that put liquid blush on the map for sure. But they definitely didn’t do it better, in my opinion haha their blushes are way too pigmented. If using an entire dot from the applicator makes someone look like a clown, that’s too much. Having to be that careful while doing your makeup is just miserable.
This is a fair take! But I don't recall saying Rare Beauty did it the best (I will not be rewatching). I mainly said that Colourpop was late to the game (in terms of duping) and wish they would play with shades more because they're known for color. If they what others would consider a “better” formula, then that's always a great thing!

Any brand willing and able to do this is clearly more keen on marketing an image, lifestyle, or identity than relying on the actual merit of their products. Big red flag. Merch of this kind used to be given away free, by the way.
the makeup by mario blushes are so fun and summery... i'm so tempted T_T
Right?!?
Have you tried the Sabrina carpenter perfumes? The original sweet tooth perfume intrigued me but i was not sure how long it lasts for or if it is good quality?
Love your vids! what camera do you use and what is your lighting?
Canon M50 (I dont love it) but I recommend the 50 mm f1.8 lens. Lighting is just a mix of ring light and natural. ❤️
I have the Fenty liquid lipstick in MVP and it’s my favorite red lipstick that I’ve ever owned. I’ve never had a red look so good on my skin tone
I love the color! Hate the formula. 😭
So about Colourpop! What about orange and yellow blushes!!
I love your content, YOU HAVE SAVED MY WALLET 😂
Good 😉
The « white » blush seems to be blue. There’s a trend in china of blue blush because it brightens. I feel like this is an asia release like the cushion fondation
It just launched and I think its actually lavender
i have nothing to say but i love your vids and wanted to leave a comment ♥♥♥
You're so real for this!! It always helps. ❤️
YAY TYSM FOR POSTING!!
♥️♥️♥️
Hi Elle!!!!! You are hilarious!!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!!
i definitely still use my eyeshadow palettes but will not be buying new ones at least right now because i feel like all the newer releases are so boring and not worth buying a new palette. i'll stick with my expired naked 2 and the few singles i've acquired over the years. i have one Juvia's palette for rainbow colors and that's good enough. no one has put out anything i want to buy lately
i read the title and inmediatly went "just what i need"
Thanks for watching! I have a whole series. 🫶
Right?! I’m surprised they’re just no releasing them.
That’s a great point. 💯
I do like the ysl eye shadow palettes! I know they get hate but I think they show up nice. ❤
Same 😅
Love your videos!
Thank you for watching 🫶
42:47 the smiley face on the fenty lip gloss is a collab with roblox
As you can tell, I am not the target audience. 🤣
Colourpop is behind in terms of fun makeup, colors and finishes
I'm here for this long video👏😂
And this is after editing 😅😭
I've been trying to dupe a 4$ catrice lip gloss that was discontinued for ONE YEAR NOW. Nothing's the same color. I hate to see that that pink in the Christian Louboutin gloss is that same pink color that I want. I'm not gonna BUY IT, I do hate to see it however. Why can't, like, two faced make that pink or something 😭
Have you tried bringing it to Sephora/Ulta to swatch against other things? I’m sure there are similar shades somewhere. 😆
Was tempted by abh blush but didn’t get it
i love your review!
Thank you for watching ☺️
Yes first also love how honest you are what is your opinion on elf lip oil
I think the elf lip oil is pretty good. Its something I recommend, but like most lip oils; you'll have to reapply often.
Judging from the comments fenty is the way to go 🤔
Yep you’re my new budgeting method. Thank you lol
Welcome 😂
Can’t wait to watch this💗
I hope you enjoyed ❤️
