Everyone here is like "they WERE so good" and I think they are still awesome but it's great to check out how they used to play. I love both their old and new material.
One of my favourite gigs. It probably wasn't the absolute best performance of any of the songs, but I can't get over how huge just the three of them sounded. They made more noise than a lot of bands with two or more guitars. Total wall of sound.
Def not a better setlist for me, no In Your World, Agitated, Megalomania or Showbiz! Two b-sides, one of the most underrated songs on OoS, and a classic that's returned to Muse concerts recently because of how good it sounds live.
This is the best gig of Muse ever recorded. The set list is just top notch (and this was before Absolution was released). Even Fury is in it. That version of the Small Print is priceless (the anger), much better than what ended up on the album. They also played Muscle Museum. I saw them in Belgium in that same summer, I still think of that as the best Muse gig I every saw, they were so full on energy, on the verge of their big break though. Would love to see that same set again, though, the magic from that era is gone.
I agree it's great but I think Rock AM 2002 is slightly better. They have almost identical set list but it has slightly more energy and introduced Hysteria!
I was aware of the existence of this concert for, maybe, 6 or 7 years now, but kept putting off watching it for an obscure reason. Until today and... I'm in tears. A perfect Muse concert.
I saw this concert many years ago, maybe this same video when you upload it. Saw it so many times and now, I come here like 10 years later and I can guess the next riff, improv, mistake, jump... I guess I saw it too many times back then, but why note see it one more time? great concert
Yep I totally agree if I could have seen the Origins of Chaos tour then I would have literally died of happiness but never the less Muse are still as awesome as ever and plus Matt is becoming crazier again by having more screams in songs like Bliss (Reading 2011) and Smashing up more guitars :D so hopefully Muse will revert back to their insane side once again :D
naveisawesome Plug In Baby was first played live in 1996. 3yrs before the first album even though it came out on the 2nd in 2001. That’s more impressive👌
And for Wembley's live back to HAARP at the end of th3 show they're playing stockolm syndrom plus an outro and there's Psycho riff in it, created like 10 years ago. Fuckin genius those guys
Everything you said applies to me too. They came to my hometown in Newcastle in 2006 when I was like only 11 or 12 and I wasn't fully into their music so I didn't go and see them but now I'm desperate to see them live and yes they are the best of the best :D :D
this has to be the best that setlist I've seen from them this is like my dream set list I mean deas star, fury oMG love fury!!!... only way I could get better if they played in your world and easily
Yeah I think it's gotten better as it's sounding perfect and no dodgy notes but it lacks the raw aggression in the voice like when they used to do Dead Star and Micro Cuts there was almost anger in the voice but now it's more operatic and kills those songs :( :D
Ah I love the new stuff and the more commercial stuff :') It means Muse gets the recognition they deserve. Plus I love the catchy riffs in Knights of Cydonia and Unnatural Selection and the live version of Uprising :D I know what you mean though. Matt has a much better voice now but it lacks the aggression from the Absolution/OOS era. I mean when I hear Micro Cuts on the Reading 2011 DVD the vocals are too clean and non aggressive and it just sounds wrong for that song and it's such a shame :)
trust in me when i say their new stuff is epic live their passion is the same like they we're young only that they don't destroy their stuff anymore.... sry for the bad english :D it amazes me how they can play for 10yrs and still have the same energy level with the songs live for that long.
I really don't care how many people are going to see this comment. Muse is still Muse and has always been. The people who always say "Muse isn't this good anymore," or "I wish Muse was still like this;" here's an idea, Grow up. Bands change. I don't think Muse has changed at all. Muse is still Muse and still has energy like this on stage. They still sound like this. Drones and The 2nd Law were great albums. If you want this Muse, watch concerts from this era and stay in the past. You've gotta live in the present someday.
Sounds like you can't handle differing opinions lol. Saying you don't think Muse is as good this decade is not some mean-spirited insult, it's a statement of preference. It's immature to say people need to grow up for liking album A from year X more than album B from year Y. Would you be complaining if everyone said current Muse is better than old Muse? It's arbitrary.
@@Zooropa_Station But saying they are terrible now is not really that cool. I mean you can have different preferences alright, but it depends on how you say it.
Expressing an opinion on art in an "insensitive" way is perfectly fine unless you mistakenly read it as a personal attack. It's not rude to anyone or anything, just blunt. It's fair to criticize strong opinions if they're shallow and have no support, but it's not fair to judge opinions just based on how positive or negative they are. I'm sure many of the people who say "Muse are [expletive] [expletive] [expletive]" could spend a long time explaining why they have that stance if given the time, but nobody types out a full essay on every opinion they share until they have reason to.
haha, it's funny that they payed at a jazz festival because their music is everything, but not jazz and it's nice that they played songs from absolution in 2002 when that album was only released in 2003!!!
this is my kind of jazz.
😊👍

gracias amigo
You are a good man.
Really we only needed (0:16:25) and (0:41:00) ;) but thanks man !
Yep those two versions of TSP are tremendously good, maybe Muse's best live tracks ? which is saying something
the bass in small print is so amazing
insane
That's my boy! 💕

+PsychicHorse me too
+PsychicHorse They are, and back in Montreux Jazz this year !
Fully agree!
That had to be like their best concert though.
Do you think he is losing it because of this age or some other reason? +JJTheGuitarDoctor
One of their best concert! What energy!!
I need 1080p 50fps+ and better quality of this masterpiece 😅
One of my favourite gigs. It probably wasn't the absolute best performance of any of the songs, but I can't get over how huge just the three of them sounded. They made more noise than a lot of bands with two or more guitars. Total wall of sound.
Dom in the end there: "Cheers, goodnight, see ya later" this is what made these early gigs so awesome
This concert it´s like hullabaloo but with more pasion
And maybe a better setlist
Tu hermana tiene más pasión. En la cama!
Def not a better setlist for me, no In Your World, Agitated, Megalomania or Showbiz! Two b-sides, one of the most underrated songs on OoS, and a classic that's returned to Muse concerts recently because of how good it sounds live.
So true
Muse a band of geniuses 😊
They came back to Montreux and it was fucking awesome. They played so many B-sides and old songs.
This was definitely their peak. Every song here was insane and raw.
Raw and amazing energy. They don't sound like this today, or have for very long time. This next level compare the last 10 years or so.
This should be broadcast daily on permanent repeat on some channel. I don't care which one. Pick one. This would be an improvement.
yes

A perfect Muse concert.
god bless you mr bellamy
What an incredible version of Bliss, Wow
Absolute greatest performance of Micro Cuts they've ever done.
the intro for screenager is hmm???there are no words to describe, how beautiful it is!!!
The bass is really heard here
This performance of Fury is incredible
Wow, this amazing gig is 20 years old today.
Don't remind me how old I am. 😭
Yep,baby museletts developing nicely👍👍
I fuckin love "The Small Print". Really wish they would play it more often.
Back here like it's 2018 all over again. Thank you Matt, you absolute God!
Anybody else really love Dead Star?
leafpileman oh yeah, it's amazing and one of my faves!
leafpileman Hell yes!

THAT SETLIST *_*
Such an immense growth in just a couple of years after the Bizzare gig. Just wow. Here Muse are really mature and exactly what they are now.
love to see the early versions !
Best concert of the OoS era !! Micro Cuts is insane and the new songs on Absolution make that setlist perfect !! Thanks for posting that video !
Probably the best muse concert
matt was having a bit of a mad one on the piano tonight
Thanks so much
MUSE es lo máximo. Museadicta total.
Best band in the world!

What a night that must have been. They were all feeling it, and so was the crowd.
How I wish I was there....
the greatest jazz festival
This Hyper Music.. it more than deserves its title
Best f**king setlist ever!
They really need to put Muscle Museum back into their sets!
totally agree!!!every muse song is different and brilliant in it's own way
love. Turn on Chris's base specially during dead star so thick and crunchy
THANK YOU !!!!
Este concierto hay que guárdalo en el corazón. Hermoso setlist. La mejor época de Muse.
@F1Racers No problem glad you like the concert and glad you like Muse that is about as awesome as it gets/ Oh and love the name F1 is amazing :D

Micro Cuts + Screams = The best fucking song ever. I LOVE IT ❤
Best muse concert. Best setlist. Muse at its best. Much love muse !!!
MAN THEY ARE AMAZING!

In the 1970s, the festival began broadening its scope, including blues, soul, and rock artists
Fuck, born too late...
Wait a sec...
They had 3 songs from absolution created 2 years before absolution actually came out?
Wow I have to admit thats pretty cool
+naveisawesome 1 year, Absolution came out in 2003
naveisawesome Plug In Baby was first played live in 1996. 3yrs before the first album even though it came out on the 2nd in 2001. That’s more impressive👌

omg bliss is amazing
New born..I mean, I feel like a new born, watching this. In 2023 ❤
This is a great performance! This and Rock AM 2002 are in my opinion as good as it gets!
Nor can I in all honesty. This is just too good a concert and Muse are just so addicting combine the two and it's like a mind blowing Class A* drug :D
Today again! 'Feeling cheerful'

0:26:06 DAT TRANSITION! This is a swell concert, with a stellar set of songs. Old Muse is fanatical, wish I could have seen them back then :)

The whole damn concert is brilliant :D and Muscle Museum is already an awesome but that intro made it extra extra special :D
OMG! WHat even is AIR!!! THEY RULE!!!!
So, this is a great performance by Muse in a JAZZ Festival.
Surely, they're talented Jazz performer back then in 2002.
Cynical ?
que energia que tenian XD creo que el mejor reci que vi en actitud matt esta prendido fuego
