    This is a great idea, but it would have been better if the repairer had applied low-melt solder to the pins carefully using a standard iron BEFORE using the copper wire tool.
    It would have been much faster to remove the IC.

      Best way I found to salvage parts is to use a lighter or straight up hair dryer on the back of the board. However this destroys the board but saves larger components. Small caps, resistor, ferrite cores usually don't need more than a good iron and some solder.

    The only issue with this is the amount of time the iron sits on the component. If replacing bad component, this might damage the circuit boards copper traces, if salvaging the parts, might overheat n damage/distroy them..

    The excessive heat will mostly damage the components....that's why they use hot air gun because such small components can be easily damaged by direct heat

  • @dwightcampbell100
    @dwightcampbell100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The application could be improved significantly, but the idea is sound. Thanks.
    I wouldn't start practicing on big chips in tight spaces where you would possibly be reusing those ICs. And yeah, I think the wire should have been pretinned. It's going to get tinned one way or another and the time to tin the wire is not while you're trying to desolder 100 pins in a tight space. Heat transfer is way better with tinned and fluxed wire.
    A hot air gun is no guarantee that you're not going to "cook" a chip, and it is no guarantee that you're not going to move close components. Technique with the right temperature can beat any tool.

    Really BAD procedure to remove SMD Ic's, not recommended. You can do that much faster and safer using ChipQuik SMD1without boiling print and nearby components. At minute 7:17 watch the adjacent two smd capacitors being moved out of the print due to the extreme heat.

    HOW TO REMOVE SMD COMPONENTS WITHOUT HOT AIR GUN
    Sir
    Watched yr above video and astonished to see yr idea. Really great indeed.
    Wants to know one thing . You applied soldering flux, applied the constructed soldering iron heat thro copper wires to melt the soldered joint and you applied a tool to remove the melted solder. What is that? Is it a solder suction device? If i am not wrong. Then you lifted the component by tweezer. Please clarify.
