    A Canadian here. I just bought the last one from a local Home Depot store. (They've decided to no longer carry the Bosh brand... crazy!) I've had my eye on this unit for two years, waiting to catch it on a sale.) 1. The packaging is different; entirely out of Styrofoam. 2. There is no external locking mechanism outside the of trigger. You folks must have different safety rules. Love that machine!

    WOW, I've never seen so many adjustments on a saw before, but then again I am not a contractor. I think that Bosch makes some excellent saws, I think they are the go to brand for them man. That saw is massive I agree, the weight is probably going to force that to be a shop saw. This saw also looks like it might be a 1000 dollar saw. Awesome review as always, and your project footage is much appreciated.

    Great to see a tool in action, as opposed to a certain channel (that is entertaining) that just places a tool on a bench and lets it free spin.

    Thanks for the excellent review. The saw is on my list. I'd like to briefly address the size and portability issues. 1st, whether someone needs the 10" or 12" version of this saw depends on the type of work they are doing. If you're cutting large crown molding, the 12" saw is probably best. If you're using it for framing, the 10" saw is more than adequate. 2nd, for portability, you bought the wrong saw stand. Bosch makes a wheeled saw stand, what they call the Gravity-Rise Miter Stand, that makes it very easy to move this saw about.

    Hi mate well done, I have the 10" and love it in my workshop on my own custom stand with dust collection, far more stable, I tend to kick the legs on these stands too often :) there are fine adjustments to set the angles spot on that work really well, I use my Makita 10 inch when I go to a job for framing, getting to old to lift the big boys now, thanks for the review brother.

    For anyone in the U.S. This saw is being clearanced out at Home Depot, I just bought one for $325 with my military discount (10%). You need to hurry as Home Depot rolls out their clearance every three days on big ticket items. This is steal at that price. If they have a display it is even cheaper, talk to the manger on that one. I work part time at the Home Depot, I'm a bit of a tool nut, not really a good combination.

    +Our build, I had a look at this saw but ended up buying a 10" Dewalt dw717 because it had way better dust collection and little blade deflection. I can't imagine many instances where you'd need a full 12" saw at a job site. What do you think?

    Great Review James !
    They also had these Mitre controls at the front on their earlier model GCM 10. They were intuitive and easy to use. On this GCM 12 GLD they are indeed not easy. Every time i have a customer in my store asking me to show them how it works it's always abit of a struggle again to get it working =) They should have stayed with the controls from their GCM 10 model !
    Some other small negative points: Absolute shitty dust collection. With or without vacuum attached.
    And belt slippage for a heavy user :)

    This is not really a contractor saw. it’s more of a permanent shop saw. i’m going to buy one next week . i’ve read every article possible and seen almost every you tube video 😂 and have not heard one negative thing about it except the lack of portability .
    Wait, i did see a video of a guy that was complaining about some small play in the glide mechanism when it was in the locked position. A commenter laughed and pointed out that if your not using the saw why does that matter . it turned out that the guy admitted to complaining about everything in his life 😂😂

    Just got this saw 12” I have made all adjustments to make the blade straight. At 90 it will not make a straight cut, it’s slightly off. I took the blade guard off to check all measurements again made a cut without the blade guard on and it cut very straight. Put the blade guard back on with no changes,made a cut and it was slightly off again?? What is going on with this. Checked blade with and without blade guard and no difference in measurements, but cut is different. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank You!

    • @OurBuild
      @OurBuild  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +akaredcrossbow There should be adjustments you can make without taking the guard off from memory? Might be best to speak with Bosch directly to make sure there isn't a fault. Good luck, hope you get it sorted as it's a great saw.

    I have this saw for 2 years now and the only downside is it's weight, and it's passive dust extraction. Bevel adjustment was a bit of bitch at first.

  • @mariusbielefeld4458
    @mariusbielefeld4458 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    U need too put at least 4 inches of free space between the wall and the machine to get full range of motion. Perhaps making 45deg 45deg
    Also a Maschine with guide rails is a lot more accurate. This blade of this saw is not stable sideways. I can move mine with minimum of force by a millimeter side to side.
    It's more a framing saw. My personal opinion.
