What Happened To BC Flood Victims? - Home Destroyed, Back To Rebuild

This is a follow up story from the 2021 BC Floods near Abbotsford and Chilliwack BC. Atmospheric rivers dumped torrential rains on the area, swelling rivers and breaching dykes which led to extensive flooding of homes and farms in the area. John is one such resident and he is still working to clean up 4 months after the water has receded.

I feel sorry for these people that lost their homes and everything in them, they might be wondering why this happened to them.
Looking at these homes, the ground floors were built basically at the same level or slightly above the surrounding farmland......which used to be the bottom of a shallow lake. This was always going to happen one day, hopefully if they rebuild these homes they will be built several feet higher than they are now.
