  • The atmospheric river is on top of us again. It has rained all day today and the river levels in the Fraser Valley are up again, threatening to take more homes and damage more land, roads and property.

    Wow, this is unbelievable. Thanks for posting your videos for other people to see. You can't get this comprehensive coverage on CBC, CTV and Global or the main TV media. They only give short little snippets. It's Sunday evening here in Vancouver and from what I've heard, we have a major rain storm coming again in a few days. What a catastrophe and I just pray it doesn't get much worse.

    The main local and national news broadcasts are pretty much camped out in the towns that are affected and repeat the same footage everyday. All you independent You Tubers are getting some unbelievable footage. I watched drone footage this morning from the Vedder River. Keep up the good work everyone. But most of all. Stay safe!

    I really appreciate that you have created this informative video. My sis & I grew up at Cultus Lake & then later in Chilliwack, so we’ve seen this area many times. This video is so shocking, it really shows the damage.

    Water takes 3 days from the day it begins to fall to filter through the ground, into a stream, then into the rivers.
    When the hills and mountains are clear cut, the water will only take 6 to 12 hrs to enter the river system.
    This is what creates mudslides.
    The term "Clea cut" is misleading. The truth in clear cut areas is any tree less than 12 inches across, any bush or vegetation in the way is KNOCKED OVER and left where it has fallen.
    When the loose dirt beneath the debris begins to move the loose vegetation comes down hill and removes everything in its path, at white water speeds.
    This isn't global warming, this IS the result of human greed and mismanagement of resources

    I have never been to this area. It looks beautiful, though, despite the flooding. I hope everyone near this flooding will be safe, especially those who lose homes. That must be heartbreaking. Sending thoughts and prayers from Oregon.

      Yeah I was there once with my brother it has good fishing normally not sure how the floods will impact the salmon etc.

      @@wandervisionYT I haven't travelled the road since Thursday last week so I am not sure. As for us way up here we are fine. The river is right behind us but no danger to us as we are way up from the river. Planning on going to town Wed. So we'll see, I can let you know how it was. I do know they are working at the hatchery hill right now though.

    Hey, that washout on the way to the slesse trail, which specific spot is that? I was up last Tuesday and the 3rd bridge up Nesakwatch was gone, but I didn't recognize the stretch of road with the missing chunk in your video.

      Most of the salmon have finished spawning by mid Nov. So the majority were able to complete their cycle. There are special spawning channels that are protected from the flood water and I’ve seen many fish still alive there, which is a good sign for their eggs in those same channels.

    you mention well known fishing spots are full of rushing water . . . I guess fishing in the area has changed for now as all the fish are way the heck downstream . . .

    I hope some regular BC fishing enthusiasts can speculate for us how they think the fish are handling all this and perhaps what might be happening to the spawning beds? used to fish the Chilliwack and the Vedder years ago and this makes me so heartsick. It can't be good all up and down the riverine systems.

      There is 3 to 5 years of salmon out at sea they will come back and be fine.

      I’m sure a lot more of them survived further up river than the ones in the lower tributaries.

    Twenty plus years ago I had a favorite fishing spot as did hundreds of others, after a flood it was all gone I couldn't recognize anything, what can you do.

      I will drive further up later this week. Have been staying close to the river for the most part so far. Curious to see what things are like up near riverside and the bench road.

    I don't see any one keeping there cameras on the bridges with the log jams that are building up on them in the Vedder canal maybe will get the new bridge on hwy 1 faster then we think that would be great if you don't mind

    I came on your channel to say thanks for keeping people informed with your great videos. It's Monday here in Vancouver and I've just been reading the weather forecast and they say we have another atmospheric river coming in tomorrow. They say it could be even worse than the last one. This totally sucks. PS I do NOT need dumb replies from total boneheads like "Liberal Tears". I'm not into controversy, just keeping up with this catastrophe that has impacted so many people in BC and elsewhere.
