Hi there. What an awesome day it was. I would like to congratulate you for what you have done for the I I nternational Harvester name. Back in 1970 to 1972 I worked as a sales man and demonstrator for IH in New Zealand we were selling mostly the newer 454 through to 674 range. But also we sold 2 1066 hydro models one of those tractors I drove and worked in the field preparing ground for potatoes, wheat and barley. I really enjoyed my time working with the lnternational Harvester company. But for personal reasons I had to return to my contracting days as a share holder in the family business. I think that I do remember that at the national field days in mid June of either 1971 or 72 that we had one gold 1456 there I have no idea where it was sold to. I would expect that it went to a South Island grain farm as that was where most of the larger tractors were sold back then Thank you for such an interesting video
The farm I grew up on still has an 826, with 2 engine rebuilds, but is an original 1 owner tractor. When I was younger, my father told me it was a "demonstrator tractor and he and my uncle bought it after the demonstration period was over. How can we find out if it was a Gold Demonstrator? My father and uncle are no longer with us, but I do remember my uncle specifically telling it was a demonstrator but never mentioned the "Gold" part. All he said was the tractor's sheet metal was all repainted and I remembered polishing it before I drove it for the first time. Are there specific serial numbers that identify a Gold Demonstrator??
Hello. I'm currently restoring a 1456 gold demonstrator. The under side of the hoods still have the original gold paint. How many of these 1456 models exist today?

I was surprised to see them only pulling three bottoms with the 826
I grew up with International Harvester and now I have 5 tractors , thank you for doing this .
I wonder on the Diesel Gold Demos if some of the dealers may have turned up the injection pumps on them to get a tad more power??
We had a short 656 on our apple orchards.
That was a heck of a tractor.
Just went to red power roundup today June 14 at grand island and seen the 1456 FWA and the 656 as well as your truck
Would you ever consider doing a video of your IH Utility Tractor collection?? I bet they have interesting stories behind them as well....
Good idea. The videos are a lot of work & quite expensive. We’ll probably just stick with promoting the gold demos. Thx for the idea.
Each tractor has a unique story behind it...

Serial numbers were not recorded. Dash cowling & steering column black?
Also check under hood for gold paint. Usually not painted over with red.
See our other video. I explain all that.
Thx for watching!!

Nothing exact but we think there are approximately 125-150 gold 1456s.
