I had a c-sec with my first baby 2 and half years ago. And two weeks ago i delivered my 2nd baby with unmedicated Vbac. And all thanks goes to you Bridget! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
Honestly peeing is much more painful for me than pooping lol. I found that holding my butt in the air above the toilet and leaning forward so the pee would run forward instead of threw my wound, helps a ton.
@@Mrs.J.D.B I was amazed at how relieved I was! I read about it on some mommy blog. I had also read about peeing standing up in the shower, but that didnt help at all and I still cried pretty much every pee 😪 but once I tried "butt up" over the toilet no more tears. Hope you recover quickly mama! 🤗
The hospital gives you everything you need. No need to purchase unless you run out. You could ask for more supplies from the hospital. I had first degree tearing and not sure why but the after pain wasn't so bad. Ibuprofen helped with cramps. Active labor lasted two hrs for me. I did not even have time for epidural since my water broke and cervix started dilating at super speed. The after pains was nothing compared to labor.
Thank you for making this video. I just attended a breastfeeding class and the lady who has been teaching it for years said that we could also rub a little breast milk on our niples after the feeding and let it air dry to help as well with the dryness, soreness and cracking.
My midwife told me this too :) I had a cracked right nipple in the beginning (and boy was it painful!) as my baby and I were both ill post delivery but with nipple cream and breast milk on the affected nipple, I was able to heal and am able to breastfeed shortly after :)
Thank you, all you explain is very useful. The breastfeeding contractions is something I found out on my own too. I think is also useful to know that the first day the milk comes, after three days of giving birth or so, your body reacts raising the temperature. My mother had told me this, but I didn’t realize why I was feeling so hot at first.
One thing I love about midwife clinics is they do their best to avoid giving you a tear, they are not in a hurry, they guide the vagina with their hands. God bless them. I want no doctors. I suffer from constipation without giving birth, I cried for my grandmother the last time, but this time I’m prepared, so help me God.
I clicked on this cuz I’ve been getting nervous about postpartum and then the last thing you said reminded me that there is so much good happening in the midst of the tiredness. Thank you so much for this video. 🥲
Postpartum doulas will also be a HUGE help in this time of transition with a newborn! Whether it be the firstborn, or the 5th...it doesn't matter. Postpartum doulas will be there to support any decision you make as a family, and will educate you on anything you may be unfamiliar with!😁
One thing I wanna add to post partum recovery is that if you have a UTI or think you do or a yeast infection MAKE SURE YOU GET TREATED BEFORE HAND. I have a very bad UTI and I didn't have a way back to the doctor so I had to take Azo cranberry garlic all of it DID NOT WORK. and I couldn't breast feed u til 2 days after I got done with the medicine and now she has nipple confusion. Also I got a yeast infection during all of this and it itches so bad I wanna rub it on the concrete. You can't do anything about it at all. On top of all that the hemorrhoids. OMG the hemorrhoids. Make sure you have preparation h ready bc even using the bathroom and your stool being soft when you got 2 big hemorrhoids with stitches it is NOTTT FUN. other than that everything is so sensitive down there make sure you take some scissors and trim the hair down there around the top because if you don't your happy spot won't be so happy it'll get swollen and hurt real bad from the hair poking it😅 😢 that is my best advice I can give anyone
Thanks so much for your insight! And your extra tips- I didn’t know about the extra breastfeeding bits either! I’m due in 5.5 weeks.... my husband keeps asking if I’m nervous about the labor. That doesn’t get me like the unknowns of post partum does- especially breast feeding. Thanks for your advice! Love your last point too!!!! The love... can’t wait to experience this love 💝
I'm expecting our 3rd baby, due the 30th of December. My husband has expressed that he really dislikes the first month and I wondered if you had any suggestions on how to improve the postpartum experience for our husbands and care for them too. It's a huge change for the papa too.
I know this comment is over a year old, but still I want to comment for any fellow mamas that are thinking about this--it is a hard time for dads too! Even a good dad that gives mom all the attention she needs and deserves will feel stressed and unsure during that first month, especially when he doesn't know how to help or just can't. Better to address those feelings than ignore them or tell dad that his feelings don't matter. Talking to each other, trying to take quality time together when possible, asking for someone to come over so both mom and dad can get some sleep all help! Thanks for sharing something that people don't often talk about, would love to see Bridget share some tips on this :)
@@brandywebb5723 It's pretty common for both parents to feel stressed during postpartum--we don't know whether or not this dad was respectful in the way he expressed his difficulties. It sounds like it was at least addressed and talked about. Better to be honest about those feelings than to pretend they don't exist and have them cause tension later on.
I'm 33 weeks now with my first child and nobody, I repeat NOBODY told me about the feeding contractions! My mom never had any milk so she doesn't have any feeding experience. I bet even she's gonna get mortified 😅
Thank you for this and all your videos, Bridget! I've been studying your channel for months now :) I have two weeks left and the weirdest questions pop up in my head like what's the protocol after breastfeeding? Should I clean the breast? Waterwipes? Or water? Then apply nipple cream?
I've been thinking the same! I know we should put nipple balm and or cream to help healing and soothing, but do we wash it off before each feeding? That's a lot of reapplying and washing for how much a newborn feeds.lol
the most important thing is to make sure they are dry and are wearing nursing bras or clothing that allows the skin of your nipple/breast to breath, this prevents bacteria from causing an infection because they like warm moist environments so keeping the nipples dry is super important. You don’t have to wash after every feed, but if it feels gross from baby drool or milk wipe off and then dry off. Hope this helps a bit 🙂
My first baby had me bleeding for a long time. My second as well due to a complication that had me well bed ridden... It's important to move around while healing. I am two weeks postpartum now and have never bled less. It's very like a light period at this point.
what do you think about them banning husbands from hospitals now? also our hospitals will never provide anything apart from the bed so im preparing to buy everything and take it home and to the hospital.
This is my 1st time commenting on your channel, I am very moved by you soar voice and body in this video, that is quite visible. Was this your week after postpartum?
3 weeks hah. Bright red bleeding and clots for 3 months Never had contractions from breast feeding. But never produced more than a few ml of colostrum per day either. Saw 3 lactation consultants, and was told that not having milk at 5 weeks was normal and I just needed to try harder. Because feeding for an hour, pumping for 30, resting for 30, repeat, wasn't trying hard enough. Listening to lactation consultants almost killed my baby
I do like this video, but the term “flush out the blood” is a little misleading to new moms. As a birth educator & doula, I wish that wording wasn’t used as it can cause moms to think that they need to flush out things from the vagina. That can be very dangerous. Nothing should go into the vagina during the postpartum phase and as always, the vagina is like a “self cleaning oven”. The peri bottle or sprayer you mention is for diluting urine as it flows out to prevent the acidity from causing extra pain while the vagina & perineum may be raw/sore. If you are able to edit, then I can share this with my remote students! 🤗
Yes, the burn in my boobs when my milk lets down for the baby to nurse is real. It's very uncomfortable but my husband thinks it's hot and it turns him on, which makes me laugh, so it's fine.
Rude and unnecessary. You are free to watch someone else's video if it bothers you. Poor woman is still exhausted from birth... I hope you've grown since this comment
Hey, thanks for the tips here! I value the information you're sharing; however, I want to give some constructive criticism here: do you realise how many times you use the word "like" (often incorrectly or inappropriately)? I understand it's quite common for many young Americans to do so, but please, if you want to have a serious TH-cam channel where you share good information about something as important as pregnancy, birth and everything related to that, you really need to become aware of your language and work on articulating yourself in a more precise, correct manner. I love everything else about you from what I see here, so it is just so annoying hearing "like" all the time. Keep up the good work, mama!
I am not from the states and I havent even noticed. I don't think it makes the channel not serious enough. It is not the evening news she is giving us so I think that colloquial language is not inappropriate.
I know this is a year old, but I wonder if you have any regrets rereading your comment and maybe want to change anything. This isn't only an informative video, it's also about her personal postpartum experience. How would you feel if so soon after giving birth you put the effort into filming something like this; you were concerned about those who may be going through something similar to yourself; and in response you got condescending critique of your natural vocal tics? You pay so much attention to someone else's language usage, but everything else goes over your head. Don't you hear the exhaustion in her voice? See her sitting on the floor? Maybe a more casual speech pattern... no. no, it must be because she is unprofessional and only you can save her from herself! I'm 40 weeks pregnant and these videos have been indescribably helpful. Her manner perfect.
The breastfeeding contraction is something new no one never talked about... thanks for telling us new moms

Shepherds purse tincture right after giving birth is great for bleeding. I got the 1oz
We just had a premee boy. I delivered him in ultrasound at the hospital feet first
