Zelos was started and is owned by my pastor's son. I remember when they started out, his dad told me about it in church. They have come a long way. Very impressive!
I just received my Steinhart Nav B 44mm Bronze. I would recommend checking it out. Great fit and finish. Nice strap and leather presentation box. Bronze case, Swiss 6497 movement, sapphire crystal. All for about $515 usd. Good value for money. Loving the channel by the way. Keep it up.
The Mako II I have is a beauty . The SW-200 is a pretty good movement. Love the patina effect on the bronze. I upgraded the strap with a burgundy ostrich leather strap from Aaron Bespoke. Great looking combination and I get asked a lot what brand it is etc. And I can’t say enough about the terrific service from Elshan Tang the owner of Zelos. Really good bloke.👍
Between Jody and Jory, I have also been convinced to make this my bronzo instead of the new Christopher Ward 38MM or a Steinhart. I opted for the bronze bezel and metorite dial and am looking forward to years of patina. It is on the way....
thanks for another great review. The case is really great (love the crown at 4), so is the meteorite as material for a dial. But I think the dial-design is just to much. The extra indixes plus the chapter-ring plus the extra dots is just to much...like they couldn't decide and just put them all. Really killing the look for me (especially as there is already a bezel and with meteorite there is also so much going on...). I think it would look way better without the chapter-ring but the layout of it applied to the bezel.
I have been looking and looking for a 40mm bronze watch that wasn't a flieger.....and here it is. Order placed. Not for the meteorite dial, but the black-pattern with the bronze bezel looks nice. There were on 7 left when I ordered. 2-3 weeks. Yum.
It's funny how many cheap watches use chrome plated brass to give you the stainless steel look on the cheap. I bet unfinished brass would look very cool and oxidisation would give every watch a unique look. Is brass cheaper than steel though, I wonder 🤔
Absolutely stunning watch. Only thing I don't like is how much crystal is above the bezel. Sapphire or not I would end up taking chunks out of it. Awesome review as always 😊
Thanks for the lovely video. I ordered this exact model last week and I am waiting for it to arrive. I owned the Eterna Kontiki bronze for about a week in May. I loved it (more than the Mako) but it was a little big for my wrist and the (fair) price was too high to justify considering that I wear a dress watch 4 out of 5 days.
Just ordered mine (blue dial) this morning! Your video showed the watch far better than what you see at their site. One day turn around on an email responding to my questions! Very nice...
Been meaning to drop a line since the video first aired. Within a week of airing I'd received my Zelos Mako 500 Bronze Anthracite with a bronze bezel. Absolutely love the watch. It's far better looking in person than any of the videos managed, though you came close. There are 2 things I wonder about. 1) For a 500 meter dive watch it doesn't have a helium escape value, which seems fairly common for watch sporting this depth rating. Maybe it's not really needed, but I don't know. And 2) For a dive watch the hour and minute hands are rather small, or more specifically narrow. They seem headed more towards a dress watch. Love your vids.
Hey Norman! Glad you like it. Has is begun to change colour much yet? Agree that the hands are a little small. Personally, I think that helium valves and WR ratings on most watches are all just varying degrees of BS. Who dives to those depths anyway? Cheers!
Hopefully not me. That's deeper than hill I'm on is high (1200 ft), so I live on visual reference. I won't be diving so I'm good with the hand sized, but noticed it. I, like you, am more pleased with 40mm (ish) size as opposed to the clock on a strap look. Also, I was surprised that the Mako didn't play as thick on the wrist as I was afraid it might. Zelos is selling additional brass buckles for the Mako. $30. Wasn't listed on the site when I asked them about it, but they have them. As for the patina, I'll have to stop looking at it every day or I may never notice the change. Am looking forward to the change though.
You should try and take a series of photos of the watch as the patina develops over one year. Be interesting playing them back in sequence in 12months time. 👍✌
Hmm...Just received my Spinnaker Hull after watching your review. And I love it, except for the strap. But this Mako is gorgeous! It might become expensive watching your vids. Love your enthusiasm.
this is the video that sent me off to buy the mako. i got the full bronze with meteorite dial and thought it was the most perfect bronze watch for me. almost 3 years later out of all the watches zelos has made since this is still my favourite.
Recently put in my Kickstarter order for the new Aragon Parma 2 Bronze Swiss Auto. Give it a look if you're interested in another solid bronze timepiece in the sub $700 range.
As a watch bottom feeder I get anxious shopping for any watch north of $200 and have simply never considered the rarefied (to me, at least) world of $500+ time pieces. Until now. Because this piece is so delightfully geeky, it's got me seriously re-thinking that frugal mindset. Bronze case, meteorliscious dial and a lumed crown? Hmm. Technically, I do have the money ...
I'd be interested in your opinion of the Zenith Pilot Type 20 extra special. In comparison to the watch you review here I admire its traditional simplicity. Rather in the same way I admire John Lee Hooker in comparison to the Bay City Rollers, despite their tartan accoutrements.
Absolutely beautiful, always wanted a bronze watch with at least 200m water resistance in my collection; but disliked all of those unnecessarily huge ones. At this price point, with evewrything that you get and that beautiful metorite, damn really wished I had $569 to spend right now. Probably going to have to re-priotize my watch acquisition. DAMN YOU JODIE, why did you have to introduce this piece to me?!
There was just a bronze Glycine Combat Sub for 425 usd on drop.com, and I think you can find them for similar money elsewhere too. How would you compare this to that? The Glycine is a bit more though, and only comes with one strap. No spring bar too either, and only an aluminum bezel. On the other hand I believe it's quite a bit thinner.
Just a heads up, I would not keep watches on a watch winder, the only exception is watched with complicated complications. Been told by several established and well renowned watch makers that it’s easier on the movement when you let them completely power down, rather than constantly keeping the movement going. Keeps less wear and tear on the movement.
Everyone knows that but some want the watch ready to wear not needing to set it, thats the whole point. and watches are made to run, good ones will not wear out for decades if serviced.
just bought a Zelos advant Skelton on ebay almost new for 325 cant wait to come in Zelos offer alot of watch with a swiss movement for the money thays gor sure.
@Just One More Watch Where do you get the heavy-duty pins you showed at the end of this video? I checked your Amazon link but didn't see them there. I'm always nervous that a pin will break and I appreciate your recommendation to change them out. Thanks in advance.
I find the dial far too busy and crowded especially with the meteorite and way too much lume at the minute markers. Seems redundant given the lumed ceramic bezel insert plus the chapter ring. And the hour markers seem to be crowding the dial. I also have my doubts about how luminous paint will retain its adhesion to the hands and indices as the bronze begins to oxidize and patina. You may also find the buckle leaving green residue on the leather strap as it ages. I guess it's just not for me but I'm glad you're enjoying it, honestly. Now if I could just get somebody to send ME some freebies.
Nice watch but I wouldn’t be happy with it running at -10 seconds per day. I much prefer a watch running about +5 second per day because with a lot of movements wearing the watch crown down will slow the watch a bit and it will still be reasonably accurate.
Jody nice review, like others I find the meteorite dial quite distracting they actually have standard colors of this model on their web site. I do like the fact that the had a stainless case back, nice touch. I personally am not drawn to the bronze cases, but I do understand the design Elements.
I have the stainless steel version of the Mako 500 and it's great. Mine runs at about +3.5 a day, that's hard to beat. P.S. SeriousWatches.com usually carries Zelos watches and offers a warranty extended to 2 years on them.
Another cracking review. Like it a lot but saw a bronze diver with a lot of patena recently and wasn't sure I liked it that much ( thought it just looked green & knackered). Great value for money though. Agree on the extra indices too, why?
Can you tell us if the luminous paint on the bezel is painted on without any protection against wear? My halos Delfin has luminous paint on the bezel which has almost completely worn off with time.
For 569 $usd (429$) perhaps it would have been nice with swiss made on the dial, a Big wow factor maybe.... Great watch!! Great review as always!! You always pick affordable watches which is a positive thing for us subscribers! A lot of other watch chanels reviews luxury watches with a price range a lot of us can’t afford in a life time!! So you makes horology fun and interresting!!👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Thanks for the kind words about the channel mate! I assume that it doesn't say Swiss Made because it is made in Asia. I'm seeing an increasing number of watches now with Swiss Automatic movements but without Swiss Made. A good thing, I think! Cheers.
A bronze watches roundup video would be great! I've been looking for one the last few weeks, and I've seen I few I like, but I can't get myself to spend more than $300-350 (although this one is very tempting).
Well, this will be my first watch over $100. I watch your channel for your overzealous frugality, not to drop over $500 out of nowhere. I suppose I would feel betrayed if I didn't love your videos so much. I guess I'll just put your Casio playlist on repeat for a while!
Just One More Watch hiw does rhe zelos compare to the Steinhart ocean one bronze? My friend just got the Steinhart. The fit is great 42mm x 49mm I didn't think it would fit me as 50mm lug to lug will span my wrist, but it looks amazing. Cheers
Great video as usual. I have the meteorite dial steel version. Personally I’m not a fan of bronze, it will turn brown like a US Penny. All to their own though.
Hi Jody, I asked this on one of your most recent reviews where you use this watch as a comparison (late-9/2020). Is this a PVD-coated meteorite? Thanks!
Alright I keep coming back to this video because this watch is certainly something unique. If you had to pick between this and your Oris 65 (the black one you used to have), which would you choose?
Nice watch! Looks like a modded skx from a distance. Sometimes im having hard time distinguishing bronze from rose gold. I must be color blind 😂. Anyways as always, great video!
Meteorite 😘 (astronomy enthusiast) Lovely, but better if only came with one strap, cardboard box & less of the other stuff that's unnecessary & just bumps up the price. Very nice tho. Cheers 👍👍
Mate try the NTH Nacken watches available on watchgauge.com, you could give my reference to John...very nice divers they have...they too have loomed crowns and perfect size...this watch specs and dimensions are amazing but am not just into bronze for a watch....

This is just to make you all aware and for me, Phoibos is a No No Thanks
Zelos was started and is owned by my pastor's son. I remember when they started out, his dad told me about it in church. They have come a long way. Very impressive!
WTF
You are from singapore
It is beautiful! I would like to see the comparative with Christopher Ward C60 Trident Bronze Pro 600

Absolutely stunning watch. Only thing I don't like is how much crystal is above the bezel. Sapphire or not I would end up taking chunks out of it. Awesome review as always 😊
Meteorite dial very cool and I think worth the extra money. Very nice

Actually a micro brand watch I like! That'll go into my bucket list...

Love the watch with the brown wax strap,
the helmsman 2 bronze also looks amazing with that internal bezel!

WOW!!! Just incredible looking watch!
I got the zelos helmsman in yesterday, I'm in love and now I want more zelos's and more bronze watches.

Nautis German Made Bronze Bronze-Matic is so good.
This is a gorgeous watch. That lume is incredible. Great review!
Just got mine the other day, all bronze, meteorite model, #77 of 150, very impressive.
That dial is out of this world!
I see what you did there.........
i like nice watch.. like the blue version
Gotta admit... Looks freaking amazing !!!
In a word...magic! Nice looking watch ☺

I've just ordered a thresher GMT in black yay can't wait
Bronze... When i thought i had all the watches i needed. I got to get me one of those too. Jordy you're such a teaser!

Love the bronze and specs, but the dial is just too busy looking for me. Thank you for the video.
agree. It'd be quite hard to read the time.
I have the regular Mako Batman. Amazing watch I got it at intro price $399 and that completely poops on a comparatively priced seiko
Good to hear from an owner. Intro piece is very good indeed. Cheers!
You've got yourself a beauty. I would go with a canvas strap for a waterproof option. I came close to getting this one.
Thanks for the video on this one mate, will be adding it to my collection. Exactly what I have been looking for.
For me the best bronze watch is the Steinhart ocean 1 .
Nice!!! Love bronze watches. I got a Steinhart Bronze. Like a lot but do miss applied indexes. Regards.
This is great! Thank you so much for sharing!
just bought a Zelos advant Skelton on ebay almost new for 325 cant wait to come in Zelos offer alot of watch with a swiss movement for the money thays gor sure.
Hi, what do you think of the Ebel discovery bronze?
I know this is very late, but is the thickness you measured from caseback to glass top? Just making sure, I figure if it’s around 16 that’s a bit much
Looks good. Nissan Z car drivers need one of these ... :)

You can still clean the watch to restore the bronze to its original condition. Cheers
Good looking watch, great size
I know you state it up front, but...
Free watch gets a positive review.
Sooo surprising.

Just One More Watch did you choose the ceramic bezel over the bronze bezel or did they send you this one to review?
No, I chose ceramic bezel. I thought bronze bezel might be overkill? I like the colour contrast too. Cheers!

Thanks mate! Thursday's video will be a $28 watch..... Cheers!
Think I prefer the Nethuns!
Oooo, I hadn't spotted that one. Nice! But $100 more for a Seiko NH35
Just One More Watch hiw does rhe zelos compare to the Steinhart ocean one bronze? My friend just got the Steinhart. The fit is great 42mm x 49mm I didn't think it would fit me as 50mm lug to lug will span my wrist, but it looks amazing. Cheers
Nice packge and straps ,all this watch are so thick it's a bummer for me because of my small hands but nice watch really like the shark in the back
Awesome shirt but where is Jackie?
And also considering the Ruimas pilot watch. But I have already over 40 of them and need to stop
Where did you buy the heavy duty springbars?
I like the watch, but not crazy about the meteorite. What does the bronze look like now?
Probably green lol
Mine has just darkened into a very attractive reddish brown hue. I've let it develop its patina naturally. It's quite a stunning watch.
Very nice but I could nae find it in the Barrers, keep goin' the price is getting better.
That is a really cool watch!
A beautiful watch, 👍 I can understand why you like it so much. 😊
Great video as usual. I have the meteorite dial steel version. Personally I’m not a fan of bronze, it will turn brown like a US Penny. All to their own though.
Good to hear from an owner. Cheers!
Thanks. I really like this watch. I would say to check their hammerhead line but they might be a little large for your tastes.
Hi Jody, I asked this on one of your most recent reviews where you use this watch as a comparison (late-9/2020). Is this a PVD-coated meteorite? Thanks!
Oh damn it's beautiful!
Great Video. Love that bronze. I’m tempted 🤔
love the formula 1 t shirt
I love the bronze. But the dial is way too busy for my taste.
Alright I keep coming back to this video because this watch is certainly something unique. If you had to pick between this and your Oris 65 (the black one you used to have), which would you choose?
Oris far better as an every day watch. Same movement in both. Cheers!
Man, I think it'd be interesting to see the patina on this today.
I'll instagram it today mate! @justonemorewatch
@@JustOneMoreWatch Hey Jody! I know you've been quite busy but I've been checkin your insta everyday for that post brother.
Overall a nice time piece. Good lume as well. Bronze accellerant with eggs? Wth? Good review.
very cool my friend enjoyed it, the ZBonze.!
Nice watch! Looks like a modded skx from a distance. Sometimes im having hard time distinguishing bronze from rose gold. I must be color blind 😂. Anyways as always, great video!
Hey, but how's the Seiko mod project is going?
Meteorite 😘 (astronomy enthusiast) Lovely, but better if only came with one strap, cardboard box & less of the other stuff that's unnecessary & just bumps up the price. Very nice tho. Cheers 👍👍
Stunning
...sigh... It's gorgeous. Must....resist....link! Great upload! Well detailed on the specifics of the watch. I should have subscribed sooner.
Love these, I wish they didn't raise the price so much :(
The rate has been adjusted with one's toes though.
big fan of Game of Throne
I find myself in a state of financial embarrassment, but I suppose I'd be willing to sell a kidney to get this watch.
Oooh... I want one, perfect size too.
Love this watch 😍
Can you please post a link for the watch winders that you have in your background
BR,
Haris
Mate, they are Boxy Fancy Bricks, check out my previous review. Cheers!
Id love a tudor black bay bronze, cant find anything more affordable i like though..
Yo i love that shirt, with all the legends on it. Where can i cop?
Mate, it was an eBay pick up. Cheers!
I think I recognized Prost, Senna and Mansell. Who else is depicted there?
Piquet and Gilles (?)
Stirling Moss.
Who are they?
Mate try the NTH Nacken watches available on watchgauge.com, you could give my reference to John...very nice divers they have...they too have loomed crowns and perfect size...this watch specs and dimensions are amazing but am not just into bronze for a watch....

This watch is back up at the introductory price.
