@jamesblonde2271 I had very ambitious plan to go down to 6/8. It's extremely hard and I think that I will finish up in dividing collection to two parts. Micro and sentimental watches (6/8) and more premium part. I love mikrobrands and I enjoy wearing them, but I'm also trying to find my taste regarding their older and more premium brothers. Some of watches from my collection belong to both groups. It's super hard to sell some of them, but I have to face myself and admit that quite often some of the watches don't get enough wrist time. They deserve more, and I know that the some of the new owners wear them and are really happy.
You're no longer just a watch consumer, Jody, you now also are a watch producer. You may have only bought 40 watches this year, but you sold many, many more . . . and may you sell even more in 2025.
That’s like saying a guy that owned a plant producing bacon that made twice as much bacon this year than last, and who ate twice as much bacon this year compared to last, is making great progress in lowering his blood pressure.
I’d love to see a video of your top 20 watches. Not necessarily the most expensive, but your most favorite. I’d also love to hear what watches you’d love to have if money was no object.
For me it was the year I bought the most amount of watches I have ever bought. I bought some absolute bangers this year, and I wear all of them regularly. Casio AQS800WD (Beater watch for work as a technician) Casio W92H (the first watch I owned ever! Finally found one after having lost mine years ago) Timex T49626 Seiko Skx007 Seiko SUR319 Casio EFR-S108D Steeldive SD1970 This hobby is stupid and expensive, but man, do those silly things put a smile on my face.
Hah same, i feel the same way too. Stupidly expensive and draining my savings, but man those put some smile on my face 😂 Mine are: - Alba Panda Chronograph - Seiko SNKL23 - Pobeda 2602 (vintage) - Seagull 1963
My dad has that giant Casio and it's the best watch for his bad eye-sight. Suffered an accident that left him with spotty vision and it's the only analogue watch he can still easily read and honestly looks just fine on his 7.5 in wrist
You don't *need* to keep, or even actually buy, any watches in order to make great reviews. What's important is you get them in the hand and show us what they're really like. And JOMW reviews are top tier.
I bought another watch box this year, planning on just organizing my favorites.. I ended up filling up the empty slots on the other boxes too..😢 This hobby is unstoppable. Anyways, that Seiko Deception looks good.
Great haul this year!! On a recent trip to Japan I picked up a Casio Oceanus T200S and it hasn't been off my wrist since! I only paid approx NZ$420!! I also picked up the Escapement Time "Murph" another steal at around NZ$80.
I thought I was bad! At 57, it seems I have averaged one watch for every year of my life. Also, when my dad passed away just over 2 years ago...he left me his collection of over 70 watches. I will never sell any of Dad's watches...However, I think I may need to sell some of mine. Dad bought some really interesting watches at a time when ETA 2824 and Valjoux 7750's were prevalent in some microbrands sold on US TV; during the early 2000's.
I have an Origin and love it; enough that I would love to have several more and an Ascent too! Thanks for all your great videos, Jody. Happy holidays to you and all!
I added three watches to my collection this year…1. Erebus Origin, Orange dial, 2. Armitron Griffy in the gold finish, and 3. Hitori Yoshino Night Sky. Keep up the good work Jody!
To Tandorio's credit: they always seem to offer 'no logo' dials. I own three of those and you guessed it: I picked the 'no logo' dial versions. They actually proved to be very nice watches.
Did the same...have a wonderful Cpt. Willard with white dial and black ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal, powered with NH35. Placed on a black NATO strap with the modded chrome S applied decal...my own custom Panda themed diver for USD 63, including my mod.
Happy new year Dr. Jody! I bought only one watch this year. I picked up the newest Mudman. Sadly, I didn’t know a positive display model was available. It would be getting more use if I had not bought the negative display version. The only time I use it is in the dark when the automatic backlight makes it legible. No more negative display G-Shocks for me!
Thanks for the video Jody! I bought eleven new watches this year, plus six or so 1950s -1970s vintage watches. That's in comparison to maybe six watch purchases in the preceding 65 years. While I realize it's not 40 watches, I feel like I still may have a problem.
Started collecting in summer of 23’ I have 24 watches. Managed to only buy a handful this year. Couple of Vero’s, an Addiesdive Submariner, and a couple of Casio Edifices EFR/EFB. 👌🏼
I bought only a couple of watches this year, but I am very happy with them. Firstly the Spinnaker Bradner GMT, a Citizen ecodrive, A Burny (seagull movmnt) and finally the Seagull montre homme. I am still waiting for this one to arrive in the mail. All good watches, all I wear.
Nice work this year, Jody! Me, I bought 3 and sold 7. Made my first big purchase (brand new Tudor Pelagos LHD) that gets worn a bunch and already has plenty of wear marks. Also bought my very first safe-queen watch. A SKX009. Had one as my first watch, now long sold, so grabbed another one for nostalgia while I could still buy a new one. So I wear the expensive one and keep the cheap one safe in a box. Such goes the logic of watches.
Still plenty for you to make videos about, so I'm not gonna complain about "only 40" 😄 For me, I finally bought my first mechanical and settled on the Murph 38 It was just after the white variant was released, I tried both on and liked them both, but the original black just felt right
My watch collection for this year 😀 - Seiko Prospex Land tortoise rose gold - moonswatch mission to Pluto - HMT pilot vintage dial - HMT Kohinoor black - Casio F91w (Got the cult classic finally) - Moonswatch mission to earth polar lights Started this addictive hobby last year, and now totalling this collection to 12. Plans to buy next year - Helm Khuraburi ss or Ti whatever comes first in the waitlist - Seagull 1963 - A san martin black bay homage or a watchdives seamaster homage
The Grand Seiko is gorgeous, congrats on that one. Congrats also on the success which you and Mr. P are having with Erebus. I haven’t found the Erebus for me just yet, but I know it’s a matter of time because you guys are nailing it with the brand. Anyway, 2024 may have been a one watch year for me, my number came up for a Helm Khuruburi and I jumped on it. Cheers to you and Mrs. JOMW for making the move on the house in that particularly brutal market. Looking forward to more JOMW in 2025.
I bought three this year (if you include one that I ordered in December and arrived in Jan). While I've always had an interest in watches I only started diving into actually looking into them and watching videos from people like your good self last year. I bought a Phoibos Eagle Ray as my first mechanical watch and then as a little reward to myself after landing a new job after a redundancy a Studio Underd0g 02 Series. Finally, wanted something cheap for wearing around the house that I don't have to worry about kids sticking fingers making all filthy/scratching etc. I bought a casio F91-W :P.
I got a few big ones last year and had to put the brakes on this year as I'm working on my master's now. I hardly have time to look at the watch I'm wearing anyways so I haven't really noticed. Did get an Ascent this year, but that was it. The bonus strap pack I got with that watch put new straps on 2 of my other watches, and I swapped a few bracelet/strap combos around. Solid year, I think. I don't want to have many more watches really, getting to the point where something should go if I want to bring something else in.
This year, I got the Seiko baby Alpanist 38mm with 70 hours of power reserve 200m and Zodiac super sea wolf 41 mm 200m ceramic bezel cosc baby light blue. There are only 2 pieces this year. I am very grateful the Brew was a favorite of all...40 .. Beautiful made....on my wishing list until next time all away from St. George Utah love and peace...
I purchased the White Manga, Direnzo DRZ 04 Mondial, and a Benjamin James Scarifour this year. I’m really tempted on the Brew Metric but I think I need to let my Retrograph go before I pull the trigger.
I can very much relate to your financial situation, the good news is I found that there are plenty of gems at the ultra-budget end of the watch market so I can still enjoy exploring without spending a fortune. That said, my bucket list grows ever longer thanks in part to your reviews ! 😄
Wonderful video. You shouldn't feel bad about buying and selling watching. I was told awhile ago that it is the enjoyment you get out of the watch and not the amount of time you have it.
What a year ! Opinion are personal but : - favorite : Seiko shoguraï - worst : Casio g shock manga - my purchase of the year : Cartier Santos XL 2006 Can't wait next year ;)
I bought 8 watches this year and I've sold 2 of them. The highlight of the bunch was the JDM Seiko mini turtle (SBDY085). I may finally pull the trigger on an Erebus Ascent in 2025, had my eye on the white dial version for a while now. 👍
Watches I have bought (and sold) as the result of a JOMW video. (2) VOSTOK Amphibia that I had my hand at modding (sold) SEIKO “Arnie” SNJ025 (sold) SAN MARTIN SN004G (sold) CASIO G-SHOCK GBD-200UU-9 (still have it) DETROIT MINT Mach Bullhead (sold) I'm currently saving up for a Breitling Aerospace, that was not on my radar until your video.
I recently made the same mistake as your Tandorio. In my case, it was a Mysterious Code but in its (and my) defense, there are no reminders of the brand name anywhere on the watch
I only bought about 15 this year, you’ve got me beat! 😂 I might downsize in ‘25, there’s about two dozen in the box that got little or no wrist time this year. Kinda sad…
I was relatively well behaved this year, and bought 4 watches. And, I think they are all keepers. (Well, for now....) I'm slowing down simply because my quest to "try just about every type/design/maker available" has kind of run it's course. When I buy something now, I really know what I like, and it REALLY has to catch my eye. As a result, my purchases tend to be smarter than they used to be. 😂
As I am looking to move myself in 2025, I can really relate to your financial situation. I bought more watches this year than I ever have before (mostly cheap quartz watches though), but as camera/photography enthusiast, I used to spend my money on camera gear rather than watches. That all changed this year - mostly because my camera collection is perfect for my needs now (and I work too hard to find the time to try out new camera gear anyway). That Hz01 looks like the type of watch, I would add to my collection first chance I get... My favourite new watch is a quirky one. The Komono Orson KOM-W4153, that I got for about 83% off the RRP as it was the last one in stock. Though my Orloff Dunes (Danish brand with a Swiss Ronda quartz movement and a steel bracelet, that can give your Berny competition when it comes to breaking bracelet resizing tools) and my Accurist Aviation get a lot more wrist time.
I have just realised I have only bought two watches this year, a rip curl ( nos) for a few than £30 and citizen minute repeater, grail movement but not the thousands that that movement usually costs.
This year was the year I got into watch collecting.... My collection at year end: Christopher Ward The Twelve Christopher Ward Trident 300 Hamilton Khaki Pilot Day Date "Cooper" Hamilton Khaki King Bulova Lunar Pilot 45mm (polished version) Seiko Cocktail Time 40mm Casio FW91 Hruodland Turbine Custom Watchdives WD007 Watchdives 50F Tactical Frog FXD Sugess Pilot Chrono (ST1901 movement) Sea-gull Dress Watch Pagani BB Chrono homage Cadisen White Birch homage That's the watches I've kept....have flipped around a dozen Pagani et al watches... Last watch of the year is a Watchdives WD1860 Speedy homage V3 which I bought in the Black Friday Sale on Ali... My aim for 2025 is to start collecting microbrand watches....Erebus Ascent will be on the list once they release a 41mm version!! Definitely want a Studio Underd0g at some point and a Wise Adamascus ADX true GMT is in the list as well.
Always guaranteed to see a monumentally solid end-of-year selection. All that talk of triple-bangers, makes me realise how much I miss the blue dungeon. Good luck for 2025.
Hey...it happens when you have a major life event such as the purchase of a house... or retirement. I have scaled down the acquisition of new watches, the trip to Windup notwithstanding. And I should probably quit waffling and unload a few of the dusty pieces.
Me like you also bought a house... therefore watches had to slow down. 😅 still managed to get an ascend on the 2nd run and a san martin which arrives tomorrow 😊
Oh my, I started the year with one rule: three watches max this year, and have so far ended up with nine and having spent over 10 000 USD 😵💫 Having said that 99% of the spending is on three watches, and the rest are close to free 😇 My problem now is I want …. Just One More Watch and it’s 4000 U.SD 😵💫 God I need a new hobby!
Hi Jody, I hope you are well. I'm also hoping you might know where one might find a white manga Gshock for a reasonable price. I can find the 2100 for around $100, but add some marker pen to it, and it becomes 6-8 times that price by those lovely sellers on eBay 🙆♂️🤦♂️ that's just silly.
One watch a week is a lot. I averaged one a month over 32 years before I stopped almost completely. Selling them off over the next two years was cathartic. I still need to reduce the total to one watch box, 12 watches, plus one on my wrist.
Off topic question for you Jody! La Joux Perret use the same or similar architecture as the Miyota 9000 series movements, yeah? If that’s the case, is LJP undercutting itself in the market for watches that use this movement? I normally see watches with this 9000 series equivalent costing more than watches with the Sellita SW200. What do you think?
I didn't buy any watches this year! Well, except a nice Citizen for my wife, but that was an anniversary gift so I'm not counting that one. Ok, I also finally bit the bullet and bought the 43cm Bulova Lunar Pilot, but I made that decision last year so I won't count that one. And I finally got my first CW, 'The Twelve', but I ordered that one in December so it also doesn't count. Oh, I forgot, I also got the Ascent (that purple helix looks even better in person!) this year... Hmm, ok, I might have a slight problem...
Did he forget to mention his Islander GMT or did I miss it? I expected him to mention it right after the Brew Metric because I think he got it on the same trip..
Watches can be very addictive. I have a couple of rules for myself. I have a 12 watch box and when it is full I stop buying any more watches. I will only get more watches if I give them away (re-gift) to bring the watches under 12 or if one of the 12 is too damaged or too expensive to repair.
I have bought 1 in the last two years.. still looking to get my second watch 😂 No going to lie I may hunt for a deal on the "Sloth Seiko" I kinda like it 😂
I'm retired so my watch buying days are mostly behind me, I only purchased 1 watch in 2024. An Islander Calabro GMT purple from Long Island Watch which I absolutely love.
It's a shame that you didn't warm up to the Citizen Promaster Land. Maybe spend some more time with it ? I own that model just with the blue dial and on the bracelet, can't say it's extremely complicated to use. Sapphire, solar and radio controlled, an excellent watch for the money. Citizen at its best. Seiko would charge twice as much for that same watch. And I really never experienced a Citizen movement being broken right out of the box.
I'm in the middle of cutting my collection. I started in January and now I have 4 watches more than in January....
Beautiful.
I get it. There's more I want than I want to get rid of. What a dilemma.
Well done! Im down to about 20😂
My story as well. The problem is I like all my watches...
Casio AQS800WD (Beater watch for work as a technician)

Timex T49626
Seiko Skx007
Seiko SUR319
Casio EFR-S108D
Steeldive SD1970
This hobby is stupid and expensive, but man, do those silly things put a smile on my face.
Hah same, i feel the same way too. Stupidly expensive and draining my savings, but man those put some smile on my face 😂
Mine are:
- Alba Panda Chronograph
- Seiko SNKL23
- Pobeda 2602 (vintage)
- Seagull 1963
My dad has that giant Casio and it's the best watch for his bad eye-sight. Suffered an accident that left him with spotty vision and it's the only analogue watch he can still easily read and honestly looks just fine on his 7.5 in wrist

I do like the Canadian money in the thumbnail.
Those are old notes also. Our notes are polymer now
I bought another watch box this year, planning on just organizing my favorites.. I ended up filling up the empty slots on the other boxes too..😢 This hobby is unstoppable. Anyways, that Seiko Deception looks good.
I like your grail purchase. I picked up a Seagull 1963, a Baltany Explorer homage, and Nivada Grenchen F77 aventurine dial this year.
I sold about 20 Paganis and bought 2 Orients and a Citizen Altichron with the proceeds. Great decision- much happier with a smaller collection
Great haul this year!!
On a recent trip to Japan I picked up a Casio Oceanus T200S and it hasn't been off my wrist since! I only paid approx NZ$420!!
I also picked up the Escapement Time "Murph" another steal at around NZ$80.
Great video as usual! When you do sell off watches, what’s your usual avenue? eBay? Facebook marketplace? Facebook groups? Etc?
I thought I was bad! At 57, it seems I have averaged one watch for every year of my life. Also, when my dad passed away just over 2 years ago...he left me his collection of over 70 watches. Citizen Forza + Pagani Design 1782 are stunning pieces, and in my humble opinion, the best in your collection.
The Erebus branding is dope.

I figured your buying was down because you have a kid AND a new business. But that’s still a nice variety. (And kudos as always to Mrs Jomwa.)

Still plenty for you to make videos about, so I'm not gonna complain about "only 40" 😄
For me, I finally bought my first mechanical and settled on the Murph 38
It was just after the white variant was released, I tried both on and liked them both, but the original black just felt right
My watch collection for this year 😀
- Seiko Prospex Land tortoise rose gold
- moonswatch mission to Pluto
- HMT pilot vintage dial
- HMT Kohinoor black
- Casio F91w (Got the cult classic finally)

Hi Jodi, I already had two watches you recommended, I recently picked up the Militado from Ali express, love it. Thanks for the advice.
I got a few big ones last year and had to put the brakes on this year as I'm working on my master's now. I hardly have time to look at the watch I'm wearing anyways so I haven't really noticed. Congratulations! Some very nice watches.
The chronomaster is my favorite citizen, too, and one of my favorite watches altogether. But they're impossible to find for a good price anymore.
Wonderful video. You shouldn't feel bad about buying and selling watching. I was told awhile ago that it is the enjoyment you get out of the watch and not the amount of time you have it.
What a year ! Opinion are personal but :

Can't wait next year ;)
I bought 8 watches this year and I've sold 2 of them. The highlight of the bunch was the JDM Seiko mini turtle (SBDY085). I may finally pull the trigger on an Erebus Ascent in 2025, had my eye on the white dial version for a while now. 👍
Congratulations on the house man, been another good year for the channel.
Watches I have bought (and sold) as the result of a JOMW video.
(2) VOSTOK Amphibia that I had my hand at modding (sold)
SEIKO “Arnie” SNJ025 (sold)
SAN MARTIN SN004G (sold)
CASIO G-SHOCK GBD-200UU-9 (still have it)
DETROIT MINT Mach Bullhead (sold)
I'm currently saving up for a Breitling Aerospace, that was not on my radar until your video.
I recently made the same mistake as your Tandorio. In my case, it was a Mysterious Code but in its (and my) defense, there are no reminders of the brand name anywhere on the watch
I only bought about 15 this year, you’ve got me beat! 😂
I might downsize in ‘25, there’s about two dozen in the box that got little or no wrist time this year. Kinda sad…
O my God Jody, you're even crazier than me!!! 😂
Merry Christmas!
I bought 3 Erebus Ascents and a Piccoala and Joffrette from the NY watch show. All superb value.
I only bought 9 this year. But sold one. Up to 49 total. 52 is the best amount. a watch for every week in the year. Great video as always.
Nah, 365 is best. It’s when I stopped counting 😂
This was a lean watch year for me too. Only one for me and it's set to arrive soon - a purple helix Ascent.
I was relatively well behaved this year, and bought 4 watches. And, I think they are all keepers. (Well, for now....)

Hello from North Ayrshire, Jody 👋
I have just realised I have only bought two watches this year, a rip curl ( nos) for a few than £30 and citizen minute repeater, grail movement but not the thousands that that movement usually costs.
The GS and the brew metric are epic and glad they are keepers rather than channel buys
This year was the year I got into watch collecting....
My collection at year end:
Christopher Ward The Twelve
Christopher Ward Trident 300
Hamilton Khaki Pilot Day Date "Cooper"
Hamilton Khaki King
Bulova Lunar Pilot 45mm (polished version)

Watchdives WD007
Watchdives 50F
Tactical Frog FXD
Sugess Pilot Chrono (ST1901 movement)

Cadisen White Birch homage
That's the watches I've kept....have flipped around a dozen Pagani et al watches...

Nice one 👏👏
I didn't keep track of what I bought this year but I think the highlights are the two Seiko Arnies and the Save the Ocean Antarctica.
Is that all!? 60 from Japan alone for me !
Hi Mike! Could you also do a video showing all the watches you got this year? Would love to see your collection :)
wow 80 hour on that agelocer. did you get that neon sign from LC SIGN?
Oh my, I started the year with one rule: three watches max this year, and have so far ended up with nine and having spent over 10 000 USD 😵💫 Having said that 99% of the spending is on three watches, and the rest are close to free 😇 My problem now is I want …. Just One More Watch and it’s 4000 U.SD 😵💫
God I need a new hobby!
Like the look of the Sugess moon phase Jodie, if you fancy selling it on?
By eck, I remember when I were a lad and this channel were buying 50 or 60 watches in a year and all this were fields.
hi looking forward to video
Citizen definitely have upped their game. I got one myself this year.
I bought my second watch, but first one this year in June,
Since then I've bought about 45, but sold 25 ISH on as they weren't for me.
One watch a week is a lot. I averaged one a month over 32 years before I stopped almost completely. Selling them off over the next two years was cathartic. I still need to reduce the total to one watch box, 12 watches, plus one on my wrist.
3:49 Oh...that is NICE.
I’m going to order that new HZ as well. They look pretty awesome
What aout the islander Mark gave you ?
Jody can you please review the Rdunae r2x
Did he forget to mention his Islander GMT or did I miss it? I expected him to mention it right after the Brew Metric because I think he got it on the same trip..
Watches can be very addictive. I have a couple of rules for myself. I have a 12 watch box and when it is full I stop buying any more watches. I will only get more watches if I give them away (re-gift) to bring the watches under 12 or if one of the 12 is too damaged or too expensive to repair.
Do you get your watches as gifts?
@@Area_man115 No I give some away to friends.
@@johnsmith-gs4qf so you don’t get any watches as gifts?
Success, Jodi! Family comes first! May you and your wife be happy in your new place! God bless you all!
Think I've bought only 4 watches this year and only have 2 of them now , the Zelos 10th anniversary and a Formex essence 39 are the keepers
Thanks!!! Just looked 4 Casio LF20 again… $50 Ozzie + free postage!!! Gonna buy it… pay it off over 4 months $12.50 p.m… 👍🤣💵
I bought the same blue lagoon Arnie. One of my favorites of 2024.
I have bought 1 in the last two years.. still looking to get my second watch 😂
No going to lie I may hunt for a deal on the "Sloth Seiko" I kinda like it 😂
The Brew was my fav
From 52 to 46 to 40, at this rate you’ve only got about 6 years left til you won’t buy any watches at all 😮
I'm retired so my watch buying days are mostly behind me, I only purchased 1 watch in 2024. An Islander Calabro GMT purple from Long Island Watch which I absolutely love.
Why didn´t you mention the Islander GMT?
With all the free watches you receive to review, when did you find the time to buy 40 of your own? I’m impressed
I bought three watches this year, my collection is slowly growing
It's a shame that you didn't warm up to the Citizen Promaster Land. Maybe spend some more time with it ? I own that model just with the blue dial and on the bracelet, can't say it's extremely complicated to use. Sapphire, solar and radio controlled, an excellent watch for the money. Citizen at its best. Seiko would charge twice as much for that same watch. And I really never experienced a Citizen movement being broken right out of the box.
13:30 slides right under the cuff
😂
Love the Brew.
I bought a couple batteries.
my new 36mm Baltany explorer (brown dial) is excellent!!!!
I bought 8 watches this year and might buy 2 more before the year is over.
But that's not my usual thing, though.
It just happened.
I bought 45 watches this year. Another month to go and trying to resist any more.
I guess I'm a total lightweight so far this year: 1 Timex X Peanuts Beagle Scout
Nutter !, bought a house instead of watches, madman ! hope it works out for you mate. btw, Just want to hear CostCo again too !
Why does it show Canadian money in the thumbnail?
Jody, how many watches do you actually own? I have about 300 (mostly Invicta) and feel like I should downsize. Am I crazy for having that many???
Shockingly I only bought one watch this year….that being the Origin. So Jody, there’s that!
I'm glad I kept my watch purchases under 10 watches per year the last two years 😅
