Cutting Abandoned Vw Bus Out of Tree - Sitting 52 years Found Buried in a Stream

- The Vw Buses in a stream rescue has begun! It's been a while since we first found the rare 15 window deluxe and 1958 Vw Bus abandoned in a stream. Today we cut the Vw Bus out of the fallen trees and open a path for the rescue. This type 2 rescue could the hardest one I have ever attempted. It's an 8 hour round trip alone, never mind the labor of digging them from the grave and getting the rusty vehicles out in one piece. Join Mustie1, Joshua and myself on this epic rescue series " Vw Buses in a stream " .

I love that intro song. Who sings that?
th-cam.com/video/MwMIAL6zCUs/w-d-xo.html
PLEASE give Backyard Kombi a sub, 555 subs needed for 1,000. Thank you!
I can recall some of my best memories of my uncle and me looking thru the junkyards for parts for his vws. He always said we pay for the big parts, the little nuts, bolts, knobs etc go in your pocket- they’ll never miss those.
Great to see Josh taking his first cut and rolling logs, great memories for the future,👌
thank you Joe , that was pretty cool :))))...great to see him getting after it and it was an awesome day to spend with him
Josh is so cute! A handsome little guy! It was so sad to see all those VW’s rusting away. 😢
Great to hear Backyard kombi doing his stuff, luv it..
glad you enjoy BK's intro song as much as i do :)
Josh is getting skills, thxs for sharing...
yes he is :), thank you Tom
"We push cars around,
And occasionally cut trees down..."🎵
Merry Christmas, and don't blow your back out!
Haha, easy , the trees were down :) . Thank you , you as well
Just amazing. This is why we all keep our eyes on this TH-cam channel! Merry Christmas team 5150MX
thank you for the sweet intro song ...i find myself just watching the intro over and over which makes the final edit take forever haha! Merry Christmas
@@5150mxVW dude we’ve all gotten so much out of your videos through the years. Someone should pay you and Mustie1 and Dubwerks what you’re worth and give you a cable show.
My dad and I used to dig thru old gold miner’s dumps the Sierra Nevadas looking for antique whiskey bottles- lots of fun. You guys look like you’re having fun, too.
Jason. I like seeing you rescuing these VW's.
I once dragged an Austin mini from behind a cottage, through a pine forest... lots of trees.. never cut one..
Picked a crooked path, and used the trees with chains and snatch blocks. Pulled with a small winch, few feet one way, few another, relocating the snatch blocks each time. Took awhile, but out she came. Never rubbed a tree.... simple rigging.. keep up the good work.
Cheers Tom, from Ontario Canada.
YES! Those are the tent poles. Thanks for going back for them.
:))), and thank you for bringing them to my attention in thee comments ....I should have educated myself a little more on the SO23 before digging in
:))))
You are a very lucky guy, thank you for the video, peace.
When you told me a while ago about buying a chainsaw at 14 years old and being a lumber jack well I can tell from this video that you are 'in your element' and really enjoying the job. Josh is really learning from his Dad because that is what Dad's are for! There is still a lot of work to do but I think you two have made great progress. Take care Jason and Josh. 👍👍
haha, i told you that :)...I'll never forget my friend asking me why the hell i bought a chainsaw :). Kmart , $99...Homelite XL ❤️. I had a little wood operation going in the woods behind my Grandmothers. Thank you Stephen, it was great day out there with Josh...and M1 even stopped by :)
That makes sense, I noted the sharp chain and was thinking, "it looks like he's done that before, a lot"
Awesome video! Man that Kombi is really sunken in there. But you'll get it out! You have a great helper. I did notice the small dent in the roof, it should pop right out. I spotted that door again! I am praying for pg/sg goodness to save mine.
thank you Alan, would you believe i forgot that dang door again ? lol
@@5150mxVW aw man! Maybe next time? Looking forward to the rest of the videos!
Absolutely love the father son vids you put out. Josh's enthusiasm is awesome and it's cool when you teach him new skills. Thanks for sharing
thank you Gary, much appreciated
Looks like more salvageable parts than the one you and Mustie did, but way harder.
So Many Good Parts always on them!
One year ill find one and start fixing it up!
Good luck with the search
Well at least you 2 had the matching lumberjack clothing on. Hope Santa is kind to you all.
Great video guys, it will be very satisfying to see those buses out of that bog and back on dry land ready for restoration. Yes I did punch the ‘like’ button ! 👍
we thank you WW, yes it will :))....and thank you for the like
Whatever Dad is doing is the best thing ever!
😁
Lol. I was giggling like a school girl as you got those poles. Seriously, that was like finding money on the ground. As one of the “screamers” from that first video, thank you for going back!😂
We might have better condition busses out west, but cool finds like you seem to get do not happen much.
Keep it up!
These are core memories for that young man. I remember vividly helping my Dad dig out a multitude of 'junk' cars that he would fix up and get running. :) I miss those times.
Great to see Josh getting stuck in Jason. The bus roof? ah it's a whisky dent 😁, great stuff
You two make a great team! To bad you cant get the wife aboard, the trio would be unstoppable ! But seriously awesome work trying to cut those old busses out of the rain forest! I wanted to wish you Happy Holidays! And thanks for having the best channel on the tube!! Peace!!
I'm glad you are grabbing everything.
Yes , there was a crazy storm that night getting that 60 bug loaded . I just got in the truck and it was a down pour and crazy winds .
Nice saw, got a 40 year old Husqvarna myself.
thank you , it's been on the shelf for over 2 years waiting on a new bar and chain ...460 rancher, 20" bar. Now i don't have to swing the 29" XP around for the limb work :)
Nice to See Team Josh!!! Bull dozing Logs 👍👍👍👍👍
👍👍 , thank you Richard
😮 It s my first time and I really like how u honestly and hardly try to save many parts from old and forgotten VW Bus.. Thx. Very pretty vd
I can't imagine how you are going to get those buses out :) Looking forward to the next part.
lots and lots of digging and jacking ? Me either....yet :)
Boy oh boy do u take on some difficult recoveries ncie job teaching josh how to use a saw early keeps him safe in the future
Man you must have got Jen a big ring are a new car my wife would of been furious with me by now 😂 I guess there is a few blue cars there so maybe it evened it’s self out 😂
Just love it so good to watch and team work is dream work. Merry Christmas and much love from the 🇬🇧
We thank you . Merry Christmas 🎄
Have a merry Christmas and happy new year !😊
I wonder if Jen picked out the lumberjack plaid for them or if J did..😂
Haha, next time matching red flannel flap hats :)
@@5150mxVW lol
THANKS GUYS
thank you for checking it out Michael
Cheers !
Cheers Dan!
Definitely one of the coolest places I've seen, would love to explore and dig out old relics.
26th! What won’t do to get a VW out to take it home! I’ve been driving my 67, 007 every day since the middle of November. I got the brakes done, headlight switch, carburetor and fuel pump fixed. Now it starts and runs perfectly. I had European very bright headlights installed. I can see so much better at night. But being so small, and short, the headlights in front and behind still almost blind me. Can’t do much about that though. I would be devastated if my 67 was hit by a fallen tree! Luckily,I have everything in garage’s. And the trees aren’t big enough to fall on either of them. 😊Roger in Pierre South Dakota 😊😊
Bom dia 😊
Gosto muito desses carros e de restaurações.
Sou do BRASIL😊
Cool stuff though I'd imagine this is still the easy part. Schlepping out all those parts and then pulling out the busses is gonna be nuts! And maybe someone will want some of the non-VW vehicles and you've done them a favor by clearing the path. As always, looking forward to the next episode.
Great video! It’s nice to see y’all having so much fun saving some forgotten
Buses . Hope y’all have a great week and a very happy Christmas to you and the family.
thank you Marty, hope you had a nice Christmas
I admire the incredible work ethic and commitment to the things you love… I mean the amount of EFFORT you put in to all of these is incredible. I saw the recent GTO pull out video and then started watching more. The GTO is very desirable for sure and brings back some good memories of my teens. I’m in my 50’s and would love to have that GTO…. but as we get older, our brains change a bit I think. When i saw all the crap in that car, all the work you had to do just to empty it out, I’d have been out 5 minutes after getting to the house, no thanks!
So now after watching the two videos for these VW buses, I gotta say there isn’t enough money, desire, payback… nothing on earth that would motivate me to move a leaf to get to any of these vehicles. Have to give you major kudos that there is for you and the effort and WORK you put in!! If nothing else, the memories you are making with your son are the single most rewarding outcome! 20 years from now, no matter where that absolute piece of rusted junk is, you and your son WILL have awesome stories to tell about “that time in New Hampshire”! Do it while you’re young and energy everyone, when health takes it all away from you, it just SUCKS!! Cheers! 🤠👍🏼☮️
Thank you Rick , I’ll have to follow up on this comment when I get home . I’m about to unload the GTO at the shop . Thank you for the kind words , much appreciated and these kinds of comments keep me going at 52 with some energy level issues due to hypothyroidism. At least I know now why I barely have the Energy to pick up josh at school at 3 lol
Another great video Jason!
thank you Vw B'
Doing the Almighty's work rescuing these moldy Kombi's, and these classics will roll on pavement yet again! But that '66 Galaxie, did it look worth the trouble for someone else to come pull it out? Down in Brazil, the Galaxie was pretty much their Lincoln, and Ford in Detroit let Ford of Brazil take the tooling of the '66 models when they changed over to the '67's. Ford of Brazil cranked out that same '66 Galaxie sedan with incremental changes from '67 until '83! Classic cars down in Brazil go for, in my reckoning, twice the price the same car goes for in the US, as the demand is far greater than supply.
Sweet! Man that bus is squished and hurried! You make it look small standing next to it.
thank you Ryan, it is buried pretty good !
@@5150mxVW yes sir, but you’ll get it!
The matching outfits was a nice touch! Mixing Stihl and Husqvarna logging equipment is inherently dangerous! Be careful! Thanks for sharing.
:))...yes , I laughed when i was doing the edit as i figured someone would saw something when i got to the pole saw part , hahha...Stihl backpack blower too👍. I do like my husky saws
Thank you and Josh for sharing anther fun Vee Dub adventure !
We thank you for dropping in
The boy looks like his mother a lot. I like how he emulated you with his attire. I tried that on a couple of occasions. I dressed like my father. Got sent home from grade school because of it. 1969. Different times I guess...
love the Channel, thank you for saving the busses!
thank you! much appreciated MZ
thank you MZ, much appreciated
thank you Mz
Can't wait!! 😂5150 on the hunt!!

Tá aí duas coisas que gosto , uma boa motosserra e uma boa e velha kombi ! Sucesso ao amigo . Saudações do BR !
Wow cool ole Rambler! Stand under it and catch it 😁
Josh is getting older, times going fast.
That wasn’t fun at 5:30 🙁
67 is taken a beating
Merry Christmas Jason to you and your family!!
Another great video and Josh is a star the way he helps you with these mammoth tasks you seem to be doing better with your health which I am glad to see I look forward to seeing the next two parts and fianally we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New Year best wishes Andy & Sue.

killer video
Busses in a stream, Shirts that are the same. Josh's first cut with snow on the ground. A 15 window with the glass. Just a tree or so to move will have this out by Noon.
Great video and loved the matching outfits!
Thank you Bambita
Thank you 😊
Thank you for dropping in 9915
What a wonderful thing it is to see Josh sharing in your passion. I hope he can see how much it means for you to have this time with him. I hope you will pick a killer bus for him and do a total restoration on it. That would be sweet. All the best from Karmann Vert 68.
what a great day it was , sunny warm 45 degrees, mountains in the background , Buses in the ground , M1 visited and experiencing all of it with my Son....well , except for 3/4 of the ride home as he was asleep haha. Josh was in the shop tonight welding on a school project ...it went well and he said " maybe it's time for me to weld in some floor pans " :). Thank you KV68
Perfect!
You're unstoppable Jason! My back is killing me watching this! LOL! Way to represent us mid-lifers by recovering these long lost VW's. What's the story with the collection of those old cars and falling down house? Long abandoned property?
Happy holidays! Bill
Mate, I keep picturing ol blue eyes warbling about how great life is when i watch you digging a collapsed bus out 😂- NGL i would have said nope. But this is the good stuff for Josh.
Yes that was cool Peace out
thank you David
That Toyota truck with the Camper Over Next to Murder Psychopath Van , next to the Newest Nissan Truck , well that 81-82 Toyota Got it Get it !
You guys rock..
We thank you Salvador
Pretty awesome Jason and Josh 😊
Oh man I love these old Volkswagens. My 70 bug is something I’m really proud of, I picked it up for a steal of a price and it now runs and drives! My dream is to someday have a split window bus, but honestly… I want all of them!😂🤣
Bug, bus, Ghia, sqaureback, westfalia kits, riviera campers, 21 window, panel, their all cool in my books!😂
I would have loved to check out that structure while you worked. Josh is getting big enough so he wouldn't have to stand in the seat of my car!
nice job.
We thank you Jim
Maybe get Mustie back with his backhoe tractor to help pull em?
Tease him to make a will it start!😅.
Merry Christmas to you and your family and friends.
Awesome....I didnt have to yell at the screen about the tent poles. ha ha.
Great video! Channeling your inner civil engineer!
A little bondo and some spray paint and you're good 👍
I envy your son ... HAPPY CHRISTMAS man!!!
Great stuff guys. Have a wonderful Christmas
We thank you Al , you as well
Just imagine in the future when a dad and his son are rescuing old, abandoned Teslas out in the back 40!
Hopefully not Teslas 😂
Just kidding.
Appreciate the video it was a tough extraction . I’m more interested in the vehicles and their fate. Keep us posted .
First video I ever watched on your channel and thoroughly enjoyed it,I have already scrolled through the channel and just from thumbnail pics looks like something I am going to enjoy digging into, getting ready to watch I guess the follow up to this one needless to say you have a new subscriber.
HI Mike, thank you for dropping in and following the journey of the Buses in the stream. I didn't make it out there last week but more soon...i could be digging them out of the snow soon :). Thank you for the kind words and Happy New Year
The best saw Husqvarna made in Sweden !
Don't laugh Jason but those logs could be your way out in the old days they would be used as skids to drag out things from the woods like airplane parts from crashed planes in places in the forest and mountains. 😊
Good idea ! I did not think of that although I haven’t quite got to that point in my brain yet :)
I thinks it's time for my man Josh to have his own rescue and VW.
Not yet , I gotta have a couple more years “ on him “ :)
Just an idea you might like... every time I find a license plate, I always write on the backside where I got it, and or who I got it from. Or what I came off of. Using permanent marker.
That way, when I'm gone, my kids or grandkids know.
Great video thanks soo much.
I can't believe how many busses there are out in the world just decaying
That's a great idea!
Evening Josh
HELL YEAH!!!
thank you Chris !
Aweaome guys
We thank you Paul
Great vid as always ! Same storm hit in Nova Scotia 😡
thank you PsG, hopefully just some minor clean up , up there
Those Van's are deep 😊
Yes they are :)
Good chainsaw work. Don't pinch it.
thank you, I actually made it through the day without pinching it haha
Is this yard or collection open to the public ? Great video. Nice to see your son helping you.
Excellent video and amazed to see these vw's. Watching this video was mix between excitement but also getting nervous on how you use the chainsaw. You are very knowledgeable on vw's but can benefit some basic (re)training.
Thanks, haha, i'm way better with a saw than a Vw :)....and i'm not saying i'm good by any means with a saw haha
I didn't get the call😢. Hope your feeling better. Still here in central MA.
