    This is genius - perfect in its purity and restraint. Jan Lisiecki is the greatest pianist of my lifetime, and the only one I want to here, forevermore.

    Deep and touching. That's the way of Lisiecki's playing. Even if he's young, his music is more sophisticated and exquisite than any other artists of similar age. I love it!

    it is deeply moving enough that he is playing this beloved waltz of Chopin in his birth house at Zelazowa Wola.

    I heard Jan give this piece as an encore in Seattle, February 8. It was absolutely lovely - elegant, clean, and expressive, without being over-sentimentalized.
    Jan Lisiecki's first CD on the Deutsche Grammphon label will be released soon - I think this April. I can't wait for its release!

    This might be my favorite version of this Waltz. Mostly because Jan plays the Piu Mosso part slow at first and never goes too fast. Most versions I've heard race through that part like the pianist is trying to prove something.

    Jan,
    no, nie powiem - porównuję Twój walc z innymi jego interpretacjami i w/g mnie bijesz Chińczyków, Rusków, a nawet samego Rubinsteina. Dlaczego? Ponieważ nie łamiesz tak tempa. OK, łamiesz je momentami, a przecież to walc! Jak można tańczyć do załamującego się rytmu!? Tancerz wtedy albo upada, albo co najmniej następuje partnerce na stopy - wtopa. Zmiany tempa mają być stopniowe, nie skokowe, ale u Ciebie to jest niedalekie ideału, więc aż tak nie razi. Generalnie - brawo! Bo jak słyszę, jak ludzie, niby sprawni w rękach, ale łamią tempo, galopują z taktu na takt, rwą jak szalony koń, albo zwalniąją jak by dostali nagle zawału, to aż nóż się otwiera w kieszeni. :-)

    • @MrSmutnaMezatka
      @MrSmutnaMezatka 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I nie, nie gram na fortepianie ani trochę, gram na gitarze. Graliśmy z partnerką flecistką kilka kawałków Chopina, m.in, ten walc i zawsze jej tłumaczyłem (Angielka, więc nie czuła "bluesa"), że to walc, że trzeba to tańczyć, by czuć rytm, bujać się na boki, raz wolniej, raz szybciej, ale bujanie musi być. I fajnie szło. :-)

    I am just starting to play this and when I listened to others, it sounded so very happy and that is not at all the way I hear it. I was just beginning to think I was in my own little world (and I may be), but this interpretation matches my own. And might I add, it is such a joy and a pleasure to hear you play! I will seek out your other recordings and youtube presentations. Thank you, Mr. Lisiecki.

      I second that. This is far my favorite Interpretation I've seen on TH-cam so far. Honest, I like this one better than Rubinstein's. Maybe it's just my current state of mind that makes this piece sound rather sad, but you know... apparently I'm not alone with this :) I'm in the middle of learning the piece, and I'm glad I've came across this video. Congratulations, Jan!

    bardzo ladne, spokojne wykonanie tego walca. z Janka moze byc w przyszlosci naprawde znakomity chopinista. zreszta, zagrac w zelezowej woli w tak mlodym wieku, to naprawde wielka sprawa - byle komu nie pozwalaja tam grac.
    ahh... od razu przypomina mi sie kultowe nagranie Witolda Malcuzynskiego, wlasnie z zelzowej woli - do znalezienia tutaj na youtubie. szczerze polecam kazdemu, kto chociaz troche lubi chopina (a szczegolnie poloneza fis-moll) :)

    @DavidSnyderLumierist Have you heard him in person? I did last fall. He played with a youth orchestra. Whole setting was far from perfect but I was stunned by his mature interpretation, not culculated way but very natural from his inner being. I don't know how he gets it at his tender age. Hope you will hear him this summer. He is playing at Stratford.

    Here is a good example of why NOT to rush Chopin Waltzes. Dinu Lipatti and his over driven tempi come to mind. Here is possibly a full opposite. Missing only a little flavor of the 3 different "pieces" of the waltz, but excellent finger control nonetheless.
