I've been using an R5C for over a year and I love it. I've also been shooting on vintage Ironglass lenses. I just watched this to see if I was missing something by not shooting RED. Great video! But I think you need to double check your data rate conversions and the difference between megabytes (MBs) vs megabits (Mbps). Red raw data rates on their own site states up to 280 MBs in HQ and 110MBs in LQ. That is the equivalent of 2240 Mbps and 880 Mbps. Canon raw data rates are listed in Mbps and in 8k raw range from 836 Mbps (8k24p raw light to 2570 Mbps (8k60p raw). So it actually gives you more time. On their web page red actually gives you times with a 512gb card and red actually has higher data rates compared to r5c in 8k raw
Love the R5c. I’m trading one of my C70s for another one. The image and functionality ar3 stellar. The short comings are fixable. Battery and micro hdmi. I use the cable protector that came with the camera. It’s badass and thrown to the side by most. Great work.
I tested the Komodo vs C70 and ultimately jumped straight at that Canon. That DGO sensor is incredible. The built in NDs have their merits and the ability to rig up or down depending on project was good. I can shoot both Doc and Narrative now feeling pretty comfortable I’ll get what I need if for some reason there isn’t a dedicated soundie.
The 2 biggest complaints that I had when using the R5C were the micro HDMI port and the battery life. Canon could remedy these issues with a C80. Same sensor and codecs, but a bigger body with bigger battery and full sized HDMI.
C80 would be straight cinema though. R1/R1C should remedy these issues. I do feel Canon can fix the battery issue by making a R5C Standalone battery grip that gives a battery block like the R3. Easy fix.
What does using the micro HDMI do to you? Does it make you cry? You do have a secure bracket that Canon gives with the R5C. And battery life? Do you cry also? Every single cine camera uses an external battery supply. Use a battery bank or brick and you can film all day. The R5C internal battery is so bad you have to use and external battery source.

I use a lot the 24mm f/1.4 and 35mm f/1.4, and currently, Canon doesn't offer those lenses in RF mount. The tiny micro HDMI port is a nightmare. You need so much rigging that I felt like I was back in the old Canon 5dmk2 days. No thanks. The Sony is a much better system.
Could you explain more detailed please. I can't use AFat EF24-105F4 with Canon adapter at S35 crop mode 6k60 Canon RAW Light ST? I didn't find this information in the instruction manual, unfortunately.
r5c is not dgo sensor. but it does look good.
R5c 💪 but battery life 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
a7siii vs r5c???
thanks alot!
I'm so early that the bugs haven't been patched in a firmware update
Me with my sigma fp and 4k raw at 2600mbps: GIVE ME MOREEEEE I SAID MORREEEEE STORAAGEEEE!
Did Canon actually raise the price of the R5C to $4,700?
wow, how are you reducing noise? I have the Canon R5 and shot ProRes Raw w/ the atoms and it was extremely noisy and I couldn't clean it up.
what iso are u using?
Canon R5C > Komodo
how are the fils of the canon , is it easier to edit with or this is the same shit like before ? XDD
The R5C looks extremely soft and isn’t worth the hard drive space considering you make any footage look soft In Resolve. The R5C colors are good but still not worth it for some of us.
The R5C is not soft.
This is pure stupidity!

the Komodo got smoked lol
You are pretty.... unintelligent... in terms of cinema and data rates.
@@John-e4p1x and by the looks of it, you have ZERO work to show any evidence of knowledge. move along beta....move along
We wanna see sigma vs komodo
What are you even talking about lol
Do you mean the Sigma FP?
@@matthewjamesmartin yep
@@mikeseager8768 you're not that bright. Damn I gotta write it all out. The sigma Fp vs The Red Komodo.....or do u not know what those cameras are?
@@michialharris1850 YoUrE nOt ThAT bRiGht. Lol if thats the case, ill take my creativity/ career in this industry over your defintion of 'bright' considering you make those sorry ass videos on your page. Sorry I'm not a gear head that knows every new camera and product that comes to the market, let alone wanting to waste time comparing a Sigma FP to a komodo. The sigma FP looks like a sorry ass 2019 modernized version of an OG BMPCC..if you even know what that camera is....
