      If Google didnt do such a great job with Ai the 4x optical would be enticing. But the Ai has made the 4x digital insanely good. Im sure the optical is better but not enough for 300. I think the Pixel 6 is better looking as well i like the dark slight bezel makes the screen pop. Sea foam is awesome

    I ended up ordering the Pixel 6 with 256 GB, spending an extra $100 instead on memory to enable filling it with more video, pics and music downloads from Spotify or Amazon HD. I think I'll be happier with the smaller, non-curved, flat screen too, easier to handle and pocket. It's still gargantuan next to the Pixel 1 I'm finally replacing!

    Thanks for the super detailed review. Must have been a lot of work to organize all the shots and editing it all together. This helped me a lot for making the decision. I was so conflicted between the 6 and 6 Pro, mostly because I don't really like carrying oversized phones these days. I wasn't sure if the camera or functionality difference was worth the the inconvenience of a big phone. After watching your review, the selfie camera's difference seems quite big, especially I use the selfie camera quite often. And also there's the big price difference. ( and the waitlist ) was wondering which one you've ended up choosing for your daily driver.

    During the front camera low light video section, did you mix up the devices while describing them? I'm asking this because you were describing the noisiness of the Pixel 6 Pro front-facing camera while looking at the Pixel 6, which looks a bit noisier during that section, and did the same with your wrap-up statement. I could be wrong, I just wanted to make sure.

  • @markwrice
    @markwrice 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Very helpful. Thanks! While zooming, The Pro captures more detail EVEN when the Tensor algorithms at times made the 6 digital zoom seem better. But it was often far less accurate (similar to how sharpness in a TV often looks better at first, but loses realism while watching and not actively looking for detail, because the precise detail is fabricated). The 300 may or may not be worth it, but the fabricated detail required for the 6 should not be confused with more realism. The Pro's ability to capture the REAL picture is clear with the cropped photos. The wagon wheel was a great example of how the digital zoom of the 6 at first looked better, but it was algorithmically created, whereas the 6 Pro was capturing what was really there. I don't know which is best price-wise for me, but the 6's need for algorithms at lower zooms is often a drawback that may at times be hidden. (I'd rather store the wagon wheel from the pro even though initially the algorithmically added detail pleases the eye.) AWESOME PHONES either way.

    Very good video, this is just what I was looking for.
    I am still on the fence between the two, but this has me tilting slightly to the 6.
    The 4x optical looks good enough for me, unless you start to pixel peep...
    Gotta say the 7x optical on the pro does look good.
    Whether I'd actually use it, I've no idea...

I do photography and will be using my phone camera to take behind the scenes videos to make reels for my social media. I don't like the curved screen on the pro. I keep going back and forth of saving the $300 or just biting the bullet and going with the pro. I'm not use to zooming in with my current camera, but always having more options would be nice. Any help with what I should do?

    • @markwrice
      @markwrice 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      While I agree somewhat, I have a different view that to me is important. The 4x often looked a bit better on the regular 6, but it's a bit deceptive because it's detail that was filled in with algorithms. FINE for some cases, but the cropping revealed that many times the 6 Pro had more accurate detail even when the non-cropped looked better (somewhat like TV's having sharpness turned up... it looks better on instant intuition, but looks more fake when actually watching TV). IN SHORT: The Pro seems to capture more zoom details that are real, and not just algorithmically created. But if you only want the intuitive "that's cool", the 6 may do better.

    Thank you very much for the beautiful video, in almost all comparisons both are very similarly good, even the 4x zoom comparison shows how similar the pictures are. If you urgently need 20x zoom, it should be worth 300 dollars, otherwise the Pixel 6 is the better deal.
    I bought a Pixel 6 myself 😎

    For me, the Pixel 6 even has the nicer and sharper pictures in daylight. If you subtract the telephoto lens, it's really nice to see that the rest of the camera is really the same, not like other manufacturers with identical camera systems, for example. an Ultra or Pro model that artificially boosts quality with cheaper software just to make more money.

    Just going to put out there something I have noticed, since you did the comparison of the telephoto versus the digital zoom. You have to make sure that the camera app actually switched to the telephoto sensor... I have noticed that sometimes when I take a telephoto shot on my 6 pro, the metadata shows that it is an f 1.9, and other times an f 3.5. So clearly, the app is not switching between the sensors. Sent feedback to Google for the same thing.

    • @GrantLikesTech
      @GrantLikesTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True, you can usually tell since there is a visual "snap" when it switches to the telephoto.

    The photos of the leaves from both phones next to each other seem to be equal as far as looks. Yet, for me, the Pixel 6 Pro won it in other side by side comparisons with the 6. The individual photos look good. I can tell a difference once they are side by side. Overall, most people won’t care and will save the $300 and buy the Pixel 6.

    Excellent comparisons. You have done extensive pictures with the pixel 6 and the Samsung galaxy FE .... I was thinking of getting the pixel 6 but got told the selfie camera isn't great. I take a lot of pictures with the rear camera but a lot of selfies also. What would you recommend please? And is the samsung s20fe a better camera for selfies? Many thanks 😊

    • @GrantLikesTech
      @GrantLikesTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both are fine for selfies to me. They have a different look due to the processing of each brand. If you prefer more contrast and detail, then Pixel. If you prefer brighter/lighter white balance, then S20 FE. Best is to check the photos and see if they're good enough for your taste.

      @@GrantLikesTech thank-you for the reply. I had a Huawei mate 20 Pro and needed an upgrade without paying flagship prices so went for the a52s 5g but the camera isn't in the same league as the mate20 Pro. Would you say the pixel 6 or s20fe would be a good replacement? Camera/battery and memory are most important for me. What would you recommend? Or even another phone in the same price range? Is a shame Huawei stopped allowing google or would've got another Huawei.

    Goggles software in the 6 is better than the hardware on the 6 pro in many shots, that's just ridonculous. That said I went with the pro version because the quad hd display and the telephoto improvement is worth it to me, but for most people the regular 6 is a killer freaking deal and really a no brainer. To be honest I think you are the best at comparing cameras on you tube. Keep up the good work your quality camera comparison videos are probably the best on you tube for a lot of people.

    Thank you for making this video. This is exactly what I am looking for.
    For me, the main camera of Pixel 6 is slightly better when shooting closer objects and of course, Pixel 6 pro does a better job of shooting objects with long distances.
    The front camera of Pixel 6 pro is definitely better than Pixel 6.
    Based on those photos, pixel 6 seems to be warmer than Pixel 6 pro.
    Both phones are pretty good but there is a price gap that makes it hard to choose.
    Does anyone have suggestions?

    great video, nice to see that 2x and 4x zoom is almost the same. At 7x zoom, the Pro Model shows its advantages but most do not zoom more than 2x or 3x times. Overall, the Pixel 6 is the better choice for most. But there are also few for which the Pixel 6 Pro is better if you zoom a lot but these are the least. Bravo what Google has brought to the market 😎

    Grant, can you quickly fire off multiple shots on the camera while the images process in the background on these, or is there shutter button lag like on the A series? Just trying to see how good the tensor chip is at that

    • @GrantLikesTech
