A Cumberland Island Adventure! Backpacking & Camping

A Cumberland Island Adventure! Complete with Wild Horses and giant old trees draped in Spanish Moss! On January 17th I embarked on a 3 night backpacking trip with 8 other ladies from The Pinhoti Trail Sisters group. (A hiking club.) It was a wonderful and different experience. I did not get to see everything I hoped to. However, it turned out to be a variety of what I wanted to see........and what I actually saw. :)

Wow! That looked like a really fun trip! Must have been nice hiking on flat ground for a change. Great ocean wave and armadillo footage! Regarding the scene @7:42 though; I kind of feel like I wasn't really getting that straight from the horse's mouth. 🤪

It's the first time I ever backpacked at sea level and even below sea level! And the elevation gain was a staggering 4 feet most days! 🤪 The horse forgot his lines so i just dubbed in what it looked like he wanted to say....😉

I wish the horses looked healthier. Is there any way to achieve that I wonder?

There's simply not enough grass for them. All the open areas with grass was eaten down to the roots. I doubt that Spanish Moss has much nutritional value. It's been suggested that they remove the horses from the Island, but the Forest Service decided not to because the tourist love to see them.
