It's the same port but it's not the same. 1 port, 1 cable, can run everything, job done. Everyone happy! Customers most. I just hope that will become reality one day.

    • @GetThunderbolt

If you are utilizing a device that requires Thunderbolt 3 bandwidth and power then you'll need a Thunderbolt 3 cable. This can be the case with 5K monitors, dual 4K monitors, eGPUs, and much more.

Yes, the USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 3.1 Gen 2 naming conventions were confusing for some people. Since the USB 3.1 specification technically adopted the existing USB 3.0 transfer rate it seemed reasonable to focus on transfer rates vs. naming conventions for this simple video

You even show in your video the proper comparison, Thunderbolt vs USB 3.0 (should have been 3.1 but okay, what ever floats your boat), your coimmunication standard is still 4 times faster than the latest USB standard, but not 8 as shown at 1:00 cherrypicking much, just to make your stuff look even better🤣 og and get a new logo, the lightning for USB charge that many motherboards have, looks almost identical, most people don't know this and when some one ask I can't for the life of me remember the difference, just had to look it up one again 😂

The title isn't wrong. There are differences between these and this is what people normally search to understand the differences. Many people still use USB 3.0 so it's fair to share the difference. Right next to it on the chart you can see USB 3.1 is 10 Gb/s. We also point out that Thunderbolt 3 includes USB 3.1. It's important to compare the two because people get confused.
