Just add some cherry shrimp to the breeder box with the eggs and they will keep the eggs clean! I much rather natural ways over chemical where u can help it.
Ive not tried to breed my corys they just go about it themselves.but i do stick the eggs into a breeder box when they lay them. I've found a pipette a handy tool for taking out any unwanted eggs. I sometimes also use it to capture eggs, but scraping them off the glass and sucking them up with the pipette as they come away . I will also just stick the eggs into the sump tank and let them grow out there or in with my shrimp. That said, I don't care how many make it as Im not intentionally breeding. they just do. randy little buggers
So you said you use methaline blue or is it the hydrogen peroxide? I tried a indian almond leave once and little alder cones that others swear about with not good results. Trying to get away from the methaline blue, but it seems to work the best.
Never bred the lasers but have done some albino, green and I forgot the other. I do bredder box like you do. But I put Indian almond leaves in with it. Cover with a towel and keep dark.
Great video! I have around 13 panda Cory fry and more eggs in a large breeder box. It’s great watching them hunt for food. I can’t get many eggs to stick to the glass because my females lay them in the subwassertang and the get coated in sand! I’m still getting a high % hatch rate.
Thanks Tom! another great video. Saw you in the live-stream earlier this morning at the Minnesota Auction--nice cameo. You have once again encouraged me to direct more attention to my Orange Lasers (CW010) as they haven't spawned yet. I have had them a year now. Thanks for the spawing updates, but can you share some information on how you condition your breeders? I'd be interested in knowing how you feed and do water changes. Thanks Tom!
My brother has orange lasers and he is still waiting for his to spawn. He has some really fat females. I would try and replicate my conditions and see what happens. Also try feeding some live black worms following a large cold water change. My temp is 76-77, TDS 40, ph 6.8.
@@TMAquatics Thanks for the response Tom! I have heard about doing cold water changes a lot, but the big question I always have is no one explains what they mean by "cold" or "cool". What temperature is meant by those terms? or is it just a temperature difference such as 10 degrees difference?
Can you keep these cories with shrimp? I just want to put one in there for a few days. I have detritus worms and trying to clean it up the best I can. I’m doing water changes, slowing the food down.
Hi I do the same as you in the breeder box's with my green lasers but can't get them to stay alive. Can you help what stage do you feed? and what do you feed? need help getting them started 🙏🙏🙏
For the longest time i thought those where nail eggs and now after watching this vid. I have a filling my peppered corys are sponning but they are only laying on the glass.and is only like 10 eggs at a time.
Mine layed like 15...I thought it was one of my buenos tetras...but THE ONLY fish in that area is my pepper cory. I left them be. We'll see. I got no room for babies....yet.
Nice video! I’m still researching and educating myself. When I set up my first tank I will get some cories (probably Pygmy) and place them in a 20 or 29 gallon tank with some Harlequin Rasboras and either Neon Tetras or Celestial Pearl Danios. That would be totally awesome if the cories spawned. Thanks for the video. Lots of good info.
Hey Tom. You have me wondering. I have 10 Corydoras Jullii and 8 nerite snails. I see a bunch of eggs on the glass and driftwood, but not on any of the plants. What do you think, snail or fish eggs?
Have you found a better method on creating a better hatch rate with the lasers?? I can get some for 30$ each but they are 3cms is a two foot tank fine for them to breed in?? I was only going to keep shrimp and the green lasers is that fine?
Hello, you don't have any problems with the fertility of eggs? What is the temperature in your breeding tank? I am asking because I got only 6 fertile eggs out of 251 (2.4% fertility rate).
Good question. I actually use a little polyester filter floss to eliminate any chance of them escaping out of the breeder box. It does clog up and needs replaced daily.
That is amazing Tim. I can't wait until my gold lasers start breeding. That is a lot of eggs. What frequency are yours breeding? Besides blood worms, what else do you feed? Thanks!!
Tom,do you ever use spawning mops for Corys? And will they lay on them, mine usually lays on the glass, but I've been unsuccessful in collecting the eggs.
Cory species vary on there preference for depositing eggs. Some use mops extensively. Others deposit in sand, on glass, in the plants, etc. Why has collecting them off the glass not been working for you?
Could the lower amount of fry hatched be due to the female dropping the eggs before they were fertilized onto the substrate/ did you pikc those eggs that dropped onto the substrate that she dropped?
Bolbitis, if you haven't found it (or a good substitute) by now. The spelling may not be exact, but if you Google search "aquarium plant bolbi..." it should soon enough suggest the correct one!
Just seen this video. The plants were Bolbitis heudelotii, the Congo fern, which grow attached to submerged wood and stones. They prefer running water.
Hey Tom, what fantastic footage! This is a really good video. I must ask...that bolbitis is huge! Is it potted? I have a small one in a pot that I got from Cory snd am not sure what to do with it...any tips on planting it? I would love to create a tank like that for my cories. Is that a sand substrate? You are quite the breeder - thank you for sharing this with us.
Thanks! The substrate is white play sand from Menards. A little larger grain that the pool filter sand I use, but also needs more rinsing. The bolbitis in this video was zip tied to smaller pieces of sinking Malaysian driftwood.
I have a couple of corys and one of them follows the other and flutters its fins along the top of it a good few times a day. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed any of my old corys doing this behaviour and wondered if anyone knew why it’s doing it? I’m guessing it’s showing interest for breeding, but I don’t see any difference in their appearance so wouldn’t be surprised if they’re both males. 🤷♀️
It looks like I ended up with about 50-60 fry from this spawn. Not too bad, but could have been much much better. Thanks for watching! 👍
Just add some cherry shrimp to the breeder box with the eggs and they will keep the eggs clean! I much rather natural ways over chemical where u can help it.
50-60 cories are quite enough, you greedy sonovabith.
Nice of her to deposit those eggs right out in front where we can watch! Cool video.

Yes they are.
How exciting! Thank you so much for sharing this footage with us!
It was real nice to meet you at the auction yesterday, and thanks for asking about what fish I keep.
Thanks for stopping by 👍
Thanks for sharing, Tom! Awesome stuff.
That was so interesting, corys are so cute.
Awww baby corys 💕
I really enjoyed the finger rolling detail. Everyone talks about, but I’ve never seen it. Can’t wait to see the fry and next spawn.
Great footage! Thanks!
Absolutely fascinating watching this video Tom, it’s the first time I’ve actually seen film 🎥 of Corys spawning. 👍🏴
Hatching should be done in a closed container with oak leafs to prevent fungus.
Hi Tom I thoroughly enjoyed this video and learned your technique with the eggs. Thanks for sharing and can’t wait till the next spawn.
Me either. Thanks
Great video my friend. Greatings from Poland 👍👍👍😉
Great educational video bro. Thanks for sharing!

On sale for $3?! My god it's showing $23 at Walmart right now. Thank you for sharing!
Very informative. Thank you!
anymore green laser corys for sale?
Never bred the lasers but have done some albino, green and I forgot the other. I do bredder box like you do. But I put Indian almond leaves in with it. Cover with a towel and keep dark.
I use the towel too. Great minds think alike 👍
So wonderful. Keeping fish happy is an accomplishment.... Getting them to breed is even better! #SKOL.
Really good idea 💡 💡 💡
How the egg are fertilized by male?? Do male runs through the egg or not for fertilizing???

Nice. Pandas are such great Corydoras. You’re clearly doing it right if their spawning. Keep up the great work. 👍

Cherry shrimp are breeders best friend for keeping eggs clean!

If the eggs don’t stick does that mean they aren’t fertile? When I collected mine some didn’t stick and fell

Some corys spawn more frequently but also fewer eggs. My brother has a group of C. Duplicareus. He gets 5-6 eggs each day.
Awesome Video. Amazing tank. Cory breeding paradise. And easy eggs save as well, just clip a leaf. Love it. haha All the best. Cheers
What size is the parent fish to spawn? How long does it take for the fry to mature to max size?
Females are 2”, males around 1.5”. They grow and mature fast. They can start breeding at around 1.25”.

Nice!!! Whens the next catfish/pleco convention?
All Catfish Convention is in 2020, down in Virginia. I will be there. The next Cataclysm will be 2021.
@@TMAquatics Im so jealous as we have nothing like that here in South Australia!
Hey Tom. You have me wondering. I have 10 Corydoras Jullii and 8 nerite snails. I see a bunch of eggs on the glass and driftwood, but not on any of the plants. What do you think, snail or fish eggs?
Bright white eggs? If so, Those would be nerite snails.

Yes I do, but I’m not currently shipping until it warms up.
@@TMAquatics well, please, give me a contact and tell me the price and size. I'll adjust myself accordingly. Thank you,
Hey Tom, is there a difference between green and gold laser corydoras? Someone sold me 10 and calling it gold green lasers. Please help.
Different CW numbers. CW009 vs CW010.
Hello, you don't have any problems with the fertility of eggs? What is the temperature in your breeding tank?
I am asking because I got only 6 fertile eggs out of 251 (2.4% fertility rate).
Great video.
Nice video! How do you keep the fry from escaping through the gaps in the outflow of the breeder box or do they just tend to stay on the bottom?
Good question. I actually use a little polyester filter floss to eliminate any chance of them escaping out of the breeder box. It does clog up and needs replaced daily.
That is amazing Tim. I can't wait until my gold lasers start breeding. That is a lot of eggs. What frequency are yours breeding? Besides blood worms, what else do you feed? Thanks!!
About 60 days between spawns.
You got a new sub
Thanks 👍
If you leave them in the main tank the way they were hatched, is there any chance of them hatching?
The adults can eat the eggs , as will the snails and Ancistrus plecos.
Tom,do you ever use spawning mops for Corys? And will they lay on them, mine usually lays on the glass, but I've been unsuccessful in collecting the eggs.
I have them in the tanks, but they only deposited 2 out of 350 eggs in them.

Probably yes. Very likely a large percentage weren’t fertilized.
I want the plant for breeding my own
Green laser corys but It sounds
Like he says bowbedus plant
And I have no Idea what Its name is?
Please help.

google african water fern Bolbitis heudelotii
methylene blue is your friend
Do you use bug bites? What's your opinion?
I feed several of my fish bug bites. They love them. If you buy them, check out Kens Fish. You won’t find a lower price anywhere!
TM Aquatics isn’t Amazon better? No shipping. Ken fish you have to pay shipping which end up costing more.
Mine lay heaps but never hatch they go fuzzy .
