Imagine someone calls the cops, bc some shady dudes are making a deal in some dark alley. Cops are coming, cuffing 2 individuals, opening car trunk and finding 5 cases of Battle Styles 🤣 On serious note, you probably gonna waste more money than paying fees and most definitely more time and effort.
Big companies work out deals to pay less fees. So not everybody is paying their equal share of fees, and it allows a competitive edge that can't be compete with. Prime example is bullion. The companies can be competitive, and you; a private individual will never be able to compete and it's directly correlated to them paying less fees.
The fees kill you when you're starting out like I am but I know I don't have what I'm doing optimized. Still learning! and getting wiser. Thank you so much for your wisdom!
The benefit of selling in person and not on a platform is that even if you take the 10% less to avoid "fees" The REAL benefit is not having to pay taxes on the sale. So it truly is better to sell not on platforms
There is zero buyer fee on UK ebay whatsoever. Sorry but your video is inaccurate, I've sold multiple items for the past 3 days and got the full sales amount for each sale, with no additional fee for the buyers. This is a fundamental shift in the UK private seller market and it's existed in Germany for the past year.
@@LisaSchmidt-h6y he’s in American markets where buyer fees or seller fees are a thing. I’m asking you based on your own statement. If you as a seller are not paying fees and a buyer isn’t paying a fee, someone or something is paying to keep the service available for the citizens.
Same, especially for me since I live here so cal, theres always customers around me because it’s just heavily populated here, no need to sell online for me. Happy selling and collecting 😊
In Germany private sellers do not have sellers fee on ebay since start of 2023. It works fine, buyer also does not have to pay fees. Business sellers however have to pay selling fees and those are rising every year.
Marketing fees are where eBay will be making their money from buyers along with storefronts. Dynamic marketing rates and pay-per-click will be the only way you show up in the algorithm. Look for clothes or something on there now and it’s all international places listed at the top selling plain t shirts for $5
eBay seems to be testing out the mercari selling model. I’d venture to guess they will be passing on the cost to the buyer if they roll this out. In the end, it’s a wash. A buyers fee may as well be a sellers fee
I hate putting all the fees on 1 side of the transaction. I've had to lower my items on mercari because the buyers have to pay more and are refusing to pay more for the item since they are hot with fees
Basically the fees are already factored into the price is what you’re saying. It’s just like Kamala’s “25k to new home buyers” just ganna drive all homes up by 25k 😅
Good content on this one. I refuse to sell off platform for this reason because all it is, is extra hassle with no upside and all the risk. The people that grind the most for all preferential terms in their favour suck up so much time and aren’t profitable customers. Hard pass.
As someone with a website myself, it’s about $30/month to run it, you’re still paying 3% processing fees, and you have to post on social media daily along with run ads if you want anyone to purchase. Basically what Alex said in the video. It’s a long term thing that takes years to build up, so if you’re not going to be dedicated, you might as well just sell on eBay.
Alex can please talk about Taxes, I know it’s different % in every state but I’m scared to sell heavily on eBay because I don’t want to get hit by taxes.
@itscoreyd6758 It's not stuff I can talk about. My advice is talk with a good tax advisor and learn the tax code and all of the things you can do to offset any profits.
When you start making some money and sales get an accountant. Before that just make sure your margins are high enough. You’re paying taxes on your profit. It’s not that scary I promise.

Big brain time: Never sell equal no fee's.
Dude has dead-star hands 😂
Selling is for suckers!
ok rudy calm down dont be a Timmy
We never had seller fee's in our country
Basically gave the “no free lunch” lesson in Economics classes about fees.

Well if you go through Ebay or any reputable seller youre also losing 20-30% on taxes based on your income/state/etc...
maybe there are more country's then the USA smartypants
We have 0 fee's
Mercari does this and its frustrating when the sellers list it at market and buyer gets the fee still...

@@LisaSchmidt-h6y so who does.

Bro I started promoting listing thinking it was live in the U.S 😂😂 damn we need this
Yeah no USA yet?! Hopefully soon eBay experimenting with smaller countries first
@Delirium420 man I really hope this goes well. This could be big for the future

selling for 10% off market locally your always making more than selling through eBay.

Happy i live in toronto where so many people collect and its not an issue selling in person

Alex because they are saving TAX. You can get full price just because of the taxes alone but that is rare. SUPER RARE.
Wow I had no idea Spelling Bees were such a big topic in the Pokémon community 😮
The best is to find some local people that will come to you regularly and pay cash. I have a few like that. Just send them my new bits
"Thank you Nostalgia Buffett" we all say in unison
I do like with vinted where buyer pays the fees as you know exactly what youre getting. No working out %

I would never pay market price on an in person sale (10% less is best I would do)
I'm not like the mercari, no sellers fees .cause sells down cause everyone's trying to bargain down.Thinks Alex for doing a great job.

Mercari has no sellers fees but the buyer has fees.
Great arguments brought up debating the "no-fee" mentality! I'd rather sell on eBay all day and get the most eyes and liquidity possible that way.
Interesting info- thanks for the perspectives! ❤

germany no seller fees anymore on ebay for a while 🎉 still high tax.. rip
Or just be from a country where eBay isn’t an option and Facebook is the main sales platform
I was almost ready to sell everything on ebay lol
I don’t think it’s coming to the US. It’s growth oriented. I hope so but I’m not holding my breath.
