Thanks for watching, creators! 🙌 What do YOU think about the Fujifilm X-M5? Is the lack of stabilization and viewfinder a dealbreaker, or do its compact size and amazing autofocus make up for it? Let me know your thoughts, and feel free to ask any questions-I’ll be responding to as many as I can! 👇📸
happy new year Wes! awesome review and images, the lack of ibis in this camera is such a shame otherwise it would be a very intruiging lil camera for video especially at that price point.
In terms of video shooting, without IBIS, no motion data, bad rolling shutter and a drop in dynamic range in 6.2k, I think this is a fantastic 4k camera on a tripod or gimbal, but a poor choice for hand held or travel video. In this portable segment, I can't help but feel disappointed, but maybe I'm in the minority.
All the flaws aren't flaws, the only problem is that Fuji sold the original low-end XM series at a mid-range price and hired a lot of KOLs to promote it at the same time as it was released. When you hold a low end product to mid to high end standards, everything is a flaw. By the way, this price range was originally the X-E series.
For me there is another design flaw, and I don’t know how to contact Fuji to tell them. I find myself constantly pressing the front dial and changing settings, even if I have relatively small hands. And this could be solved with a firmware update, adding a ‘lock’ feature as one of the alternatives, so F/ss/iso/lock. If you are in lock, no matter if you turn the dial, nothing changes. Good video (and yes, what a pity the stabilisation… I’m afraid this is something left for next generation).
I was interested in X-M5 + 27 f2.8 WR due to smaller size but I think no IBIS is a dealbreaker for me. For now I am rocking S9 with Sigma 45 f2.8 which is really fantastic especially for video stuff. I will wait and see if they implement IBIS in X-E5 although image quality gains from the S9 are hard to pass now that I see results in real life use.
@@WesKriesel Actually loving it. After Fuji I had Canon R8 and Sony A7CII but it's S9 for me. It's the first camera where I love to take video due to its great IBIS. LUTs and the whole Lumix Lab app is great feature too. Fun little camera. When they will add EVF, mechanical shutter and a small lens like 27 f2.8 from Fuji then it will be the perfect one.
I bought it a few days ago. It has such a difficult menu , I have read the manual several times I have watched several videos on how to change aperture. It is a real torture. On the other hand the picture quality is not the best...I am thinking seriously to sell it
The it self is a great camera with some not well thought out or logical port placement, but the flim simulation dial, what a wast of custom setting options I prefer more custom settings , on my xh2 I only have 2 film custom settings , the rest are used for video .

Nice man! That camera looks pretty sweet, but the lack of IBIS and EVF are too much for me. Thanks for this dude!
Thanks for watching, Jerred! Happy new year!

Yes, yes. You'd probably not be swayed away from your X100v though?
@@WesKriesel probably not haha but if it had an evf, maybe! 😆

It's a interesting quirky little camera, and the promise of being a great hybrid camera. But the X-S20 is a better way to go.
@@WesKrieselDon't know about the US, but in my country it's double the price of the XM5, so I would hope it's better 😢
Yeah, without a image stabilization, it sucks for me. I can’t hold anything steady.
The struggle is real! If you're not vlogging but just filming b-rill, at 60fps, it's passable if you slow down the footage when shooting handheld.

Man... we can't really have everything with Fuji haha! Glad to hear that they've nailed the autofocus system with the X-M5 though!

@@WesKriesel hope you have a great one. Nice video. I hope they don't mess with the AF too much on this camera .

Ah, you’re liking the S9 ?!

Great shots man, shame about the ibis.
Thanks for the kind words. No IBIS 🥲🥲🥲
