    I learned this pattern differently. In it you always start with Ch1 and SC on the first stitch of each row and you always end with DC. It is a little simpler and easier to follow that way.

    I have actually already made this blanket for my dog. It was the first this I ever made. I used the wooly wonders crochet easy blanket tutorial. It was the first time I had ever used TH-cam to follow a video tutorial. For anyone just starting out, I would highly recommend this stitch. My dog always uses this blanket and is sleeping on it as I type. I'm so glad I found your channel last year, I've used lots of your wonderful tutorials. Keep up the good work Mikey and team.

      I have tried and tried to work this pattern and with no luck. I just read your comment and went to the Wooly Wonders tutorial, and Voila!!!!! Everything came into focus. The stitch work looks the same but it is not executed the same way as this pattern. Thank you so much for your comment! I will now proceed in making my fur baby a beautiful blanket!!!!

    Thank you, this is just what I needed, as I wanted to crochet a blanket for cats and dogs, but in a kind of close-knit stitch their claws will not be caught in. This one is simple, makes a nice, thick texture to keep paws and bums warm. I trialled it on a small pad for a kitten, for his perch on a cat tree. I usually send donations of pet blankets for Cats and Dogs home, and I'm glad to have learnt a different pattern. Thank you again, may all your pets be well :)

    My working cocker loves blankets! She knows them by "binky." Her favorites are the wool ones. I made a beautiful acrylic blanket for my son, but the pooch took it over. I'm now working on her pillow bed. The stuffing went flat so I'm redoing the stuffing and will attach a crochet binkie to it so she will have the choice to lay on top or burrow inside.

      There's more concern with chewing since it's threads and that can mess with their intestine

      Yeah, I wouldn't leave a dog unsupervised with a yarn or thread blanket. It's not safe IMO.

    Sorry if this is a stupid question (newb here), but is every SC in the back loop? Are the DC stitches as well? It gets mentioned once but never again. Just want to clarify, as it's not always easy to visualize that level of detail. Worst case, I do both loops. I guess I'll have to try it and find out.

    • @aidynapruebo1225
      @aidynapruebo1225 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Samantha McColeman. SC (single crochet) is not always back loop unlesss specified. Crocheting in the back loop gives you a textured look. For your normal SC, you crochet both loop. As for DC (double crochet) it is a proper stich like sc. Hope that answers your question

    • @aidynapruebo1225

    Really appreciate your lovely dog blanket patternand video but as others have commented, I don't understand exactly when you are going into the backloop. The responses have not clarified. It's clear that this is done for both the SC and DC on the first row, but even with the video slowed right down I can't see whether you continue to do this for the remainder of the blanket rows. I'm on row four and it's not looking like a flat panel, rather a tiered design. I don't know if this is because I'm continuing to go in the double loop on every stitch when I shouldn't be. There is no mention of using the backloop in the pattern (that I can see - complete beginner here). Help!

    • @Ali-Vanilla
      @Ali-Vanilla 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I've answered my own question. I did a small tester and it looks much more like yours when I go through both loops after the first row of going through the back loop.

    Can you do color change and if so is it just like doing a color change on any blanket and can you do a border?

    • @PocketSatan
      @PocketSatan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dunno, how useful my reply may be, but I did a colour change for this blanket - and yes, it is just like doing it on any blanket. I haven't added the borders, although it is a very good idea; I guess, you can do a single crochet border, or a double crochet one in every loop?

  • @miat789

    Questions I have . Please help
    3:20 is that also just on the back loop or both loops?
    Does the third row also start off with only using the back loop?
    Row 3 5:16
    Row 2 4:24

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes for sure. I would recommend acrylic as it's easier to wash and it doesn't keep in the heat. My dog would be too hot under a blanket as she's a heating machine on her own.

      I also suggest turning on closed captioning, as when you pause the written words will be in the screen for you.
