The amount of comments suggesting I do Volume Beta next are incredibly tempting lol. Maybe after I've finished assignments n other projects
p.s, all these tracks were made from scratch via listening to the original songs and trying to recreate everything note for note, no midi swaps ✌
that's some fucking effort, pretty sick
you need to, volume beta also has some bangers
I'd love to listen to more! This volume was fun.

@@sinphy It was reused no more than a year later in a Legend of Zelda game. "reading" it there says something unrelated to what it actually says.
I think the theory of it reading "Eternal Star" is most likely. The plaque being on a statue of a star also helps.
The secondary text is just too small to see.
How the hell did you manage to make it sound so faithful and beautiful at the same time? This shouldn't even be possible, I was genuinely expecting some low-effort meme but this exceeded my expectations by a mile.

Using Mario vocals for Droopy Likes Your Face is inspired. Espically fitting as for the last track.

Everything has this odd echo, not that it’s a bad thing though. Kinda like you’re high up in the mountains looking upon a valley of nostalgia silently and peacefully staring right back at you. It’s calming
reverb baybeee
thats minecraft for ya
Most of Minecraft’s tracks are like that so it fits perfectly for it
that's how they play ingame. kinda feels wrong hearing the original ost without the ingame reverb tbh
like, the piano sounds too clear
glad this soundfont cover got the echo right
@@tehcrusher And yet it so doesn’t sound like this, sure there was reverb in the original music, not this much though, I mean which isn’t a bad thing. Listen to 52:06 then listen to the Minecraft’s “Beginning”. The difference is very apparent. My perspective is that it sounds less like it does in game and more how we softly remember it. Which is comforting, yet sad in the sense as we view Minecraft in such high regards with so many memories attached to it, but at the same time we picture that happiness so far away.
Similar to how we remember dead loved ones, we can’t remember the bad, only the good times that are gone forever, never to be the same. Joys and triumphs with little value at the time now hold monumental importance on how it/they impacted our lives today. But not too dissimilar from looking at old photos we can return to those memories through music and to get a delicate reminder of how we felt there and then, even if the reminder fades its still remains as a pocket of joy to return to giving us hope for the future.
Note: After a little digging around I found this:

th-cam.com/video/w_vk7UwFBhc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lmgTLY3dOuWOocjO
You may be on to something, it looks like the more verb version was only really used for the 360 version. Ethier that or the soundtrack just has bad quality so it sounds farther away.

THIS SLAPS SO MUCH
I've heard it said that the reason Minecraft has such a distinctively chill soundtrack is because it never uses percussion.
You have managed to add percussion into Minecraft without taking out the Minecraft. Absolutely incredible.
This is the first "... soundtrack with SM64 soundfont" video I saw which is not some mediocre midislap. It actually feels so good! Congrats!
EDIT:: I DIG THAT SNOOPY LIKES YOUR FACE COVER OH GOD
what about big shot with sm64 soundfont? that sounds hella good
someone did a few sm64 soundfont covers of tatsuro yamashita albums-HIGHLY recommend looking those up if you're interested, they're some of the most well-made soundfont songs I've ever heard.
Mint Jams and Band On The Run are waiting for you.
Or on4word
OK Nintendo 64 (OK Computer with N64 soundfonts from various games) is pretty damn great
I absolutely love what I'm hearing so far. The sitar usage on living mice makes an irredeemable instrument from the mario 64 soundfont absolutely wonderful, not to mention the audio mixing is fantastic. I will be finishing the rest of this when I get back from work, but god living mice hits hard.
Edit: Finished listening to it, I'm extremely glad to see how much genuine work went into this instead of a simple midi swap. Really shows a strong understanding of what makes the minecraft soundtrack, the minecraft soundtrack.
Not sure what you mean by "irredeemable", the sample is fine lots of people just use it wrong
@@pinio5132 the game also uses it perfectly in LLL
the way that this is not only used properly, but MIXED and MASTERED to where it sounds like HOW it should be listened to. This is amazing, you did an awesome job
AND THE FACT THAT YOU DIDN'T USE ANY MIDI SWAPS, YOU ABSOULTELY MADE IT SOUND SO ORIGINAL AND UNIQUE AND FAITHFUL AND WOOOWWWWW i am so fucking impressed, thank you for making this. THIS is the standard now, you did it!!
Man, only I wish is to go back in time to the nostalgic days. Thank you for creating this.
i think the hardest part about VGM soundfont covers is respecting which contexts the instruments are normally used in in the original OST, but also using the instruments in a unique and interesting without losing the flavor of the soundfont. I LOVE how this utilizes the SM64 soundfont to it's full potential and adds so much extra depth and expression, bravo :>
Thirteen is genuinely gut-wrenching in the SM64 soundfont, the track already feels unnerving, and you've amplified that feeling by ten, great job on this.
I kinda got scared when I accidentally clicked on the 13 Timelapse and hearing
you should do the rest of the game’s soundtrack and compile it into a resource pack!
Hell yeah dude I'd LOVE to be able to have this as a resource pack, it'd feel different but at the same time it'd still fit the vibe of the game super well and it's clear so much effort was put into this, hope that maybe there'll be enough demand to see that happen eventually
Edit: oh didn't see somehow there was already a resource pack for this one lol

Genuinely impressed you did Death considering how much of an unusual track it is compared to the rest of the soundtrack.
this is insanely good and criminally underrated huge props

I NEED Volume Beta on this, your mixing and usage of instruments is just so phenomenal and I would absolutely love to hear it on Taswell specifically. I'd also be really curious to hear how you handle The End with all its effects.
indeed! i bet I'll cry listening to Taswell
Dreiton like this would make me lose my mind
Never heard two games soundtracks get combined so well
I’m tearing up bro.
I feel so incredibly melancholic and painfully nostalgic.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this!
bro invented music 2
nah this is music 3
I'm a few months late, but this is awesome. Combine the sound of SM64 and Minecraft and you have a recipe for massive nostalgia (for me, anyway). I also appreciate that these are ground-up recreations with actual artistic care put into them, unlike most of the soundfont flips I tend to see around TH-cam. Anyways, great work.
(also the sounds in Death and Droopy Likes Your Face are GENIUS lol)
This does seem to be just a niche enough crossover that I unfortunately don't have anyone to share it with that it would mean as much to as it does me
I can actually relate. Two huge parts of my childhood. I actually got emotional. Had no clue I needed this but damn, do I need this.
I like the use of the "life changing moments seem minor in pictures" version of the "Droopy" songs.
What is "life changing moments seem minor in pictures"?
@@notto5937 "life changing moments seem minor in pictures" is an album made by C418 before "Minecraft - Volume Alpha" was released. It features both "Droopy likes ricochet" and "Droopy likes your face". C418 likes to make his songs on albums smoothly transition from one to another, and that's what the difference is between the versions of the "Droopy" songs. The ones on "Minecraft - Volume Alpha" have no transitions but the ones on "life changing moments seem minor in pictures" do have the transitions.
Sorry for dropping an essay, I just know a lot of things about C418 songs.
Thank you @@Imthecoolguy6
hello there king :)
I didn't realize this was posted like 10 hours before I found it, what immaculate timing. I've had this on loop for about four hours thus far working on Big Boat on a server, so thank you for releasing this when you did lmao
The occasional wait for a new video each month is really worth the wait.
This is an amazing reconstruction of the soundtrack!
Didn't know you could do wonderful things with this soundfont, and the reverb is the cherry on top!
What an awesome project this is! The entirety of Alpha! What a joy to hear these two icons in vgm history clash.
Strangely enough, this almost most makes me feel as nostalgic as the original.
Two very different flavors of nostalgia blended into one. Kudos to you
living mice goes hard. the mario 64 instruments work really well with it. i also liked the percussion you added.
edit: moog city does in-fact, also go hard
Oh god, I am already a real fan of "Droopy Likes Your Face", but you really nailed it with the Mario samples. All in all, very lovely, passionate work! ❤
This rise in recreating albums with mario 64 instruments is so awesome, and this is like no exception. This is genuinely one of the best (I also love when people remake the album cover to be mario-ified too). The instruments are so well utilized and you really did a good job recreating everything like you said in your pinned comment.. it's just awesome hearing these songs in a new light like this. It's something I never thought I needed till now. You deffff should do beta, i'd love to hear blind spots, but def also focus on your assignments and stuff!!!

Dog legit sounds like something from a completely different video game or a song from the 70s.
I am absolutely in LOVE with this
not only does it mix two of my most favorite games, but you can tell it was put together with love for both.
I believe the thumbnail was taken from the corner in Tiny, Huge Island over the beach? if not, then im dumb lmao
also "'2401" instead of "C418"' is peak genius, you have my respects ;)
I know this is probably really difficult, but I really wanna see The End in Mario 64 style now
this might be the best sounding of these i've heard
I was falling asleep at my desk and went through the stages of:
"Oh this sounds cool"
"Wow this sounds a lot like minecraft"
"Huh, actually this sounds like mario 64"
And then back into "No, definitely minecraft", in about 30mins. 10/10 would fall asleep again.
This is a beautiful arrangement! I love hearing all the sounds from SM64 and still recognizing C418's music. I love how Moog City came out, the sitar used in Living Mice and Danny is such a neat way to implement it, Oxygene's use of the Bowser levels' sounds makes it sound so mysterious, and Mario's voice clips in Droopy Likes Your Face haha. If you ever decide to do a Volume Beta, I will be sure to listen to it :)
This is fantastic, didn't expect it to hit so hard. Also, massive respect to you copying all the notes by ear, I have done the same with a few of the Minecraft tracks and it is so time consuming. Keep it up, would love to see a Volume Beta version if it isn't too painful to make lol
oh damn. loving this so much rn. living mice goes HARD. these are all so good!! i wondering if you would do a volume beta as well because Aria Math and Taswell are my absolute *favourites* in the entire soundtrack.
SECONDED volume beta is a more complex album but holy shit taswell is one of my favorite songs of all time itd be amazing to see it done
I would absolutely love to hear these two and this is the person to do it flawlessly.
@@mishell128literally. Taswell’s entire first half is mostly a single super complex sample played at different pitches so I’d be really interested to see how that’s accomplished.
(The sample is from one of C418’s own songs- “Imposter Syndrome”)
Don’t forget Biome fest
I know that you made this comment 7 months ago, but I’d like to tell you that this guy did Aria Math separately.
Wow, Moog City feels like such a different take - it's beautiful! Have you ever considered releasing each track as an individual upload? No pressure. You've done a beautiful thing here! I love the Mario 64-ified version of the album cover as well.
This is so good. Well done dude.
Droopy like your face with mario vocals is such a vibe
This is Something that you dont think too much of when first finding it and then find yourself returning to it way to often
This is incredible! Moog City especially. It's just so well put together!
I love Living Mice and I absolutely love the progression with Living Mice. You turned a little somber (imo) song into something more triumphant and uplifting.
Thank you.
This is really good wow
Watching this on my brand new Quest 3 in a cozy home environment rn. Pure inner peace I haven't allowed myself much of this year
Wet Hands in this soundfont is just…I don’t want to sound cliche and dramatic but that’s honestly what my childhood sounds like. I feel like I’m hearing something I haven’t heard in years even though it’s the first time. I think it has that quiet, thoughtful, slow but adventurous feeling that the games I loved the most had, games like SM64 and Minecraft. I was paging through the songs to listen quickly and that one made me sit back, then up the volume, and just take it in. Thanks man.
No words can describe the emotions this gives me, 2 nostalgic moments of my childhood revived as a perfectly peaceful album to listen to when reading or just drawing with not a care in the world
this genuinely sounds wonderful, its unique and creative yet stays very true to thee original in the best way possible, I love finding little gems of music creation/remakes like this its awesome and inspiring.
I went to sleep listening to this without realizing 13 is on the track list, needless to say i woke up and skipped forward lol.
Good video! Amazing recreation and use of SM64's sounds!!
It's as if two very different nostalgia cores inside my mind have suddenly merged and become one
This is so good, most mario 64 shit i hear just uses the same 3 instruments and nothing else. good work
I LOVE that Droopy Likes Your Face is the most replayed here, works so well lol
As someone who has recently switched over to Better than Wolves Minecraft (and have never once regretted that very decision), hearing the Volume Alpha soundtrack played out the way it did hits that stake right on the head. In fact, given the thumbnail in the “video” itself, I’m already planning on getting the respective “mod” with the sound-font itself for the mod itself and the texture pack to fit. Good times brought back, and not even nostalgia or anything like that; by comparison, these times were actually better than the present day. People actually put effort into their projects, and even kids were properly educated then.
amazing work, 22:50 is my favorite, sounds nostalgic and epic, also how long did this take you to make?
If i remember correctly it took about 2 weeks to make, each day i tried to work on it any moment i could, from during college lunch breaks to the moment i got back from college until i went to sleep.
@@TABBYMUSIC damn, i wish you good luck on next project like this if it happens
I'm not really sure how this would look in practice, but it would be pretty cool if this was a mod for sm64 itself.
This is absolutely fantastic. Minecraft's music oddly fits with Super Mario 64's soundfont. You've truly created something wonderful here. Thank you for spending the time to create something so amazing.
Sometimes i just need to drift off in nostalgia and tears...sometimes crying out everything feels so good...honestly now i am so high and i am just tripping
this is incredible. this is absolutely incredible. i sat there in awe of some tracks, Moog City especially. amazing job here!!!
everytime i hear mice on venus i get goosebumps and just start to tear up, i come from pretty much a broken home and the only relief i ever had was playing minecraft on xbox 360 and totally get consumed with the soundtrack, now hearing it with SM64 samples i genuinely love it and made me cry a lil more than just a tear up,
I keep coming back to this and man, Moog City hits so fucking hard. I love it so much.
Be proud, yellow cat, for we get to experience another moon of joyous sound.
Not sure how often you check comments, but as someone who also loves to delve into the (concept) x (concept) genre of art, you've done a genius job accurately representing both sides. i admire your creativity and ingenuity a lot.
This goes unbelievably hard
Talk about nostalgia, this whole thing slapped me with sweet memories!! This is the first time I've heard the SM64 soundfont used so beautifully, I feel like others tend to kinda... Overdo it? In a way? The echoes, the chimes, the gentleness, it's like seeing an old friend after years and years of separation. Though SM64 wasn't a huge part of my childhood, Minecraft sure was. And Nintendo games always have a special soft spot in my heart anyway.
Thank you for the nostalgia trip, Tabby. It's been a wild ride getting this far
C'est du génie mec vraiment le mix parfait je déconne pas (oui je parle en français, j'ai pas voulu faire un google traduction a l'arrache)
I'm having a hard time to believe this only has 73k views, THIS IS INCREDIBLY UNDERATED. I admire your work, you must do more of these, because I'd listen to this video for hours!!
Edit : You should really consider doing Beta Volume as well with sm64 soundfont like this one!
This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy but also sad and nostalgic
any nostalgia levels higher than what is packed into this video would be hazardous to your health..
holy cow moog city was fire
we gonna make it out the villager trading hall with this one
Excuse me, I was NOT expecting the Penguin sounds in Death, wtf this is amazing!
"Beginning" goes hard af.
i know this sounds very specific, but the SM64 remake of Chris sounds like a videogame ending where the main character flies off into space and is never seen again, while the montage of them flying into space includes flashes of all the past places they've visited
mice on venus is one of the most nostalgic sings in minecraft that combined with the sm64 sound font *chefs kiss* i felt so retrospective i did in fact shed a tear or two
the subwoofer lullaby one made me feel an emotion i've never comprehended before and i don't know if i can live with this emotion anymore (in a good way)
