Caramba ! A musica fica praticamente irreconhecivel depois dos 260 bpm e o cara chegou até os 320. Fantastico. Parabéns. Aqui no Brasil temos muito talento.
Oh my Lord , I thought it was crazy at 230bpm , but when he did it at 320... I found myself laughing from disbelief lol. He must have invested alot of time practising the piece , very nicely done.
First off, he is playing music, it may not be what you like, but it is music. He's playing scales and patterns and it does sound good, like any speed metal band would sound. Second, the point is to show that he can play the piece in full without mistakes at progressive speeds, which he does flawlessly. Listen to Yngwie during his solos, same thing, super fast arpeggios, not always the most melodic, but still music.
The truth is that a few guitarists were already able to play alternate picking at 320 bpm or more back in the seventies, but they didn't play a whole song at that speed.
320 bpm is for the metronome(that cowbell sound in the background). It beats 320 times per minute. The guy playing the guitar is obviously playing faster than that. I believe the guy is playing 32nd notes. Each beat has 8 32nd notes. So the guy is playing about 42.6 notes every second.
that is because the song he his playing is : "Flight of the Bumblebee" is an orchestral interlude written by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov for his opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan, composed in 18991900
@TruthSurge IOW, those close ups at the end seem jerky like a sped up vid when he moves his arm. WHo can shift their arm that fast? almost instantly? Just seems all suspicious to me.
while you think about florida, in the corner of a room that has white walls, with a parakeet watching, green strings, three painted toenails, and a cell phone somewhere in the room...Do this repeatedly and exceed Shawn's record of 18 notes in one second then you can call yourself the "fastest"
I usually don't care for fast playing just for its own sake, but I liked this... Probably because he played a real piece of music and looked like he was having fun doing it. peace
He does it cause he wants to, doesn't mean it's good or bad... Just means it's what he wants to do. He's treating it as a sport more than a musical exercise... which is fine for some! (i'd never build my speed up to that degree but i'm very impressed by the ability at very least!)
When it is about guines world record, i think they say what song has to be played, its not about what the guy wants to play its what they tell him to. Deep respect to guitarist that played this realy hard stuff.
Has anybody here tried to compare the starting attempt (170 bpm) to the final attempt (320 bpm)? You can really notice the difference there. This is awesome!
@grant50 Also, who is he and where was this done and why does it sound like the picking is simply time shifted? IOW, I'm even skeptical that he played it at 300 and 320. VERY rare for ANYONE to play something that long that many times with NO mistakes whatsoever. LIVE? It simply doesn't happen. I don't see any info in the description area. Another thing that leads me to think this is the 2nd to last note is the same tone and volume EACH time (louder and brighter). play ends and see.
@grant50 also, at 5:18, don't you think that head turn he does is a tad fast? Is it because the vid has been sped up to match? Seems so. Just sped up a little but there'd be no reason to turn your head like that. It'd be like getting hit by a boxer. So, after rewatching this over and over thanks to your question, my conclusion - bullshit.
Bernard: I know! We'll do our party piece. Fran: Yeah! Yeah, we only use one finger each. It's in triple time. Bernard: It's called "Flight Of The Seven Million Bumblebees".
If you don't notice, he uses all four fingers on his left hand quite extensively and he has to, because each measure has 32 sixteenth notes in it, each beat has four and each note is different from the one before it, and at 320 beats per minute.. 5.3 beats per second, that's pretty impressive.
Dios mío... es un video realmente inspirador... espero y salgas adelante con mucho material para poder así seguirte el paso musicalmente. saludos desde México =)! :D
to anyone says that he's not playing with any soul... you're right, he's not. but that's not the idea. this was a contest purely based on technique, precision and above all else, speed. anyone who says this isn't impressive is... wow. well... there's really no word for what they are.
That was insane and I respect his ability!! But, I am more impressed by people who can play that fast, and phrase. I'd rather listen to 100 bpm's of music, than 320 bpm's of sound, but I do realize it was a contest and this dude brought it! Nice work!
Am i reading this right?!? This guys playing a 7 stringed guitar, and moving around the neck like a god. He could play anything; so unless you play like this leave out the comments ^.~
If I had two words to say about this video, I'd say it's too late because I've already said more than that, but wow... I wonder how his brain can handle so many commands in one second... Great job man !
it was recorded in front of a live studio audience on national television, the last record holder played 300, its possible u just have to pick a very tiny diameter per pick
Actually, I found another video which had more to this event, it wasn't a competition, he was trying to break a record. So there were no other 'competitors', just himself in front of a live audience with witnesses to his speed. Still amazing!
Holy crap. Very nice technique, looks like his hands are just floating over the neck. My guess is (for all those complaining that this doesn't sound 'musical' enough) that all people in this competition had to play the same piece. That way they can all be judged fairly on how cleanly they play at each speed rather than 'what' they play. Amazing. I could probably play this... at about 120 bpm :)
A very good pianist once said that after one day not practicing, he hears his mistakes. After two other pianist hear them. After three the audience hears them. Our ears are just to "uneducated" to pick up these mistakes.
for goodness sake people it is not mean't to sound amazing, it's just an amazing feat and i'm pretty sure the guy who plays it can make music with emotional content or use melodic influence
@Cambrand It takes at least a decade of practice to play this fast. It's not something just anyone can do, obviously enough, because he holds the world record. To play like this, your picking technique has to be absolutely flawless, and your left hand has to be extremely flexible and easily maneuverable. Saying anyone can play this is like saying anyone can write a poem just as well as Robert Frost. Most poets don't get that good. And this is an old classical piece, so of course I like it.
Oh, you're thinking of Bite Of The Mosquito off of "An Evening With John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess". The album he did with Dream Theatres keyboardist/continuum player.
For any of you who actually play guitar this is very difficult to do so saying he sucks is a immature comment from someone who obviously don't play the instrument.
He's not giving a musical demonstration he's giving a speed demonstration, I'm pretty sure this guy can give music a lot of soul.
Caramba ! A musica fica praticamente irreconhecivel depois dos 260 bpm e o cara chegou até os 320. Fantastico. Parabéns. Aqui no Brasil temos muito talento.
this guy + drum set = total world domination in 30 seconds.
Oh my Lord , I thought it was crazy at 230bpm , but when he did it at 320... I found myself laughing from disbelief lol.

I LOVE his face at 0:09 ! He's like "I can do this with my eyes closed, and behind my back!"
i love how he makes it look like he's about to take a nap at how easy it is for him
é brasileiro!!!
Brasil só tem talento!!
Orgulho de ser brasileiro *-*
I wasnt implying that it was, it just looks like a genrally nice guitar that i would like to try out.
The truth is that a few guitarists were already able to play alternate picking at 320 bpm or more back in the seventies, but they didn't play a whole song at that speed.
the song's name is the flight of the bumblebee and is played by 3 different types of clarinets
320 bpm is for the metronome(that cowbell sound in the background). It beats 320 times per minute. The guy playing the guitar is obviously playing faster than that. I believe the guy is playing 32nd notes. Each beat has 8 32nd notes. So the guy is playing about 42.6 notes every second.

i like how the dude in the background with the clipboard is just watching and thinkin "yeeh i could do that!"
@TruthSurge IOW, those close ups at the end seem jerky like a sped up vid when he moves his arm. WHo can shift their arm that fast? almost instantly? Just seems all suspicious to me.

I love how he doesn't seem even phased by any of it.

LOVE THAT SONG!!!!!!!!!!!
Love how he looks up as if saying "Ughhhh.....It's too easy. >_____>" xD
When it is about guines world record, i think they say what song has to be played, its not about what the guy wants to play its what they tell him to.
Deep respect to guitarist that played this realy hard stuff.
He's not even breaking a sweat, fuckin awesome. He's a machine
Has anybody here tried to compare the starting attempt (170 bpm) to the final attempt (320 bpm)? You can really notice the difference there.
This is awesome!
This guy is awesome! I love flight of the Bumblebee. If any of you have heard the full-orchestra version of it you know how completely awesome it is.
@grant50 Also, who is he and where was this done and why does it sound like the picking is simply time shifted? IOW, I'm even skeptical that he played it at 300 and 320. thats why the song is called flight of the bumblebee
You clearly cared enough about me to reply, and that means a lot to me.
If youre saying its the same take sped up each time it cant be as the clock face changes
Dios mío...
es un video realmente inspirador...
espero y salgas adelante con mucho material
para poder así seguirte el paso musicalmente.
saludos desde México =)!
:D
WOW! Awesome!

lol i thought the 170 bpm is the record than i realized its alot more!!
awesomeness is shining out of this guitar player!
it's very nice i liked
to anyone says that he's not playing with any soul... you're right, he's not. but that's not the idea.

Cheers,
~Chris
oh my god *u*
it's totally perfect!
he deserved that record ;)
What is amazing, that he actually plays piece of real music, and it sound like rocking Bumble bee :)
And he bloody did it.
Sounds like a bumble bee at the end, good job mate
At that speed it sounds more like a flight of a jackhammer, than the bumblebee :D
He could play anything; so unless you play like this leave out the comments ^.~
i can't even just pick this fast
the fact that he's able to sync his left hand is just insane
If I had two words to say about this video, I'd say it's too late because I've already said more than that, but wow... I wonder how his brain can handle so many commands in one second... Great job man !
3 years on and noone has beaten him as the current world record holder
it was recorded in front of a live studio audience on national television, the last record holder played 300, its possible u just have to pick a very tiny diameter per pick

That's awesome. And to think I can proudly play 3 notes and two chords on my new guitar!
At 320 bpm, it actually sounds like a Bumblebee!!
imagine he plays so fast, it rips a hole in time and space
A very good pianist once said that after one day not practicing, he hears his mistakes. After two other pianist hear them. After three the audience hears them.

That's some crazy low action on that guitar.
I love that he's playing Flight of the Bumble Bee! That's flippin TIGHT!
This guy is amazing !!!
I couldn't think about sounds this fast, not talkin' about playing... impressive.
320 bpm Bang ya head til ya Bleed !

Это вообще нереал так научиться!!.. А хотелось бы !!!!! :)
Oh, you're thinking of Bite Of The Mosquito off of "An Evening With John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess". The album he did with Dream Theatres keyboardist/continuum player.
Craziest guitar speed I've ever heard or seen is in the song CAFO by Animals As Leaders. Tosin Abasi is a God!
Completely agree.
whoa... i didnt know you could get a metronome that went to 320bps... he's incredible....!!!
if it were possible to break the laws of physics using a guitar.... that guy would be the one to do it.
Well there's a complete version I would say ? Where they introduce this guy and stuff
119 people didn't get the fact that it's a record breaking video
watch till the end. then go back to the beginning O.O
imagine him playing guitar hero
The guitar doesn't have anything to do with his speed I'm sure. He's just incredibly talented.
he must see the world like a hummingbird
The higher speeds actually do sound like the actual buzz of a bee
awesome
320 bpm is like we're being barraged by a musical machine gun =D
i thought Dellavega uploaded this video first.
amazing.
the flight of the bumblebee.
0:08 I love that face:DD
Oh my.. God..
Jesus.. he is just amazing
For any of you who actually play guitar this is very difficult to do so saying he sucks is a immature comment from someone who obviously don't play the instrument.
