Tallah finally scratches an itch I've had for years. My metal journey originally started with nu-metal, and I've since moved on, but Tallah's sound has all the best bits of Nu-metal balled together, and is heavier. Back in the day I was really craving for nu-metal to get more brutal, but all the bands seemed to go softer. So I totally agree this is the evolution of nu-metal the genre needed.
True the darkness of the first couple of Korn and Slipknot albums were never quite really matched after that by anyone else. This comes pretty freaking close.
I totally agree. I always thought Nu metal could learn a bit more from other metal styles. For example, I really think, unlike Ross Robinson, that there is space for guitar solos in nu metal. I mean, "Placenta" proves my point. That juicy guitar solo on a song that ressembles Korn so much made me smile and made me feel like I was right: more bands should make nu metal with guitar solos!
@@fabiozatara Yeah, solos can work in this style of music! But the thing is that Korn's and Ross' approach on the debut album (intial birth of nu metal) was to distance themselves from the glorified guitar hero stigma of the 80's. No pinch harmonics, no solos, no tapping, no nothing technical. They were aiming to evolve the genre from the get go to something else. But of course nowadays it wouldn't matter so much since the nu metal genre evolved into different places over time but yeah. Solos can fit nu metal easily if it serves the song. And to me it is all about the songwriting!
Tallah is ONE OF THE BEST BANDS OUT TODAY! They have a unique sound and not to mention Justin’s voice is phenomenal and Max’s drumming is amazing! And once again you have done an AWESOME REACTION Video!!!
As a No One Should Read This fan, I'm more and more impressed with each song they put out. Can't fucking wait to hear the full story. Jason is busy going through the album song by song on their channel.
Check out Justin’s one-take vocals for “The Silo” and “We, the Sad” tracks. All I can say is DAMN!!! This dude is a combo of Mike Patton, Chester Bennington and Scott Weiland. Insane! And Max Portnoy their drummer is the son of drum god Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, The Winery Dogs and Sons of Apollo fame.
I've been preaching for these guys for around a whole year. Best attempt to revive nu metal, with a great dose of inventiveness, and those vocals go harder than 95% of every modern metal vocalist (if not more). This record is bound to blow our brains, and these guys are bound to be huge someday!
Can we take a minute to talk about the fucking "War of the Worlds" alien tripod siren used in the intro? How fucking AWESOME is that????? And my God, there is just so much frickin' epic shit crammed into this... Classic '99 Slipknot, Acumen Nation, Butcher Babies, Coal Chamber.. Definitely some of the best shit I've heard in a very long time, and glad to see that you reacted to it!
Tallah has been showing up more and more in my metal mind more and more within this past month and I've got to say I really REALLY enjoy the ever living fuck out of them and I think we need more of them in the community.
I nearly head butted my dresser jamming to this the day it came out. I’m sure it would have broken in half if I did cuz that’s how heavy this shit is, It’s amazing. Please react to the rest of their music if you haven’t already! Especially, Placenta is heavy as shit. They are amazing! Album come outs Oct 2nd.
Within the first minute if this track I thought of Korn, the original album, with that incredible mix of groove, moodiness, visceral sounds, heaviness and raw aggression. This is fantastic reemergence and progression of nu metal, fucking brilliant 🤩
Yo, Galactic, if you want to understand the backstory, check out the video diaries that Justin did on the Tallah youtube channel, it explains everything so far...
Tallah are excellent. I hope you've listened to the full album by now. Absolute masterpiece. Also placenta was the first track i heard off their ep and i knew these guys were something else.
Can’t wait till u hear placenta bro I pre ordered the hoodie and signed cd these guys are very down to earth dudes too I’ve spoke to a few of them this gonna be album of 2020
I'm literally listen to this reaction tonight cause I watched your new one vanilla paste my god this band is awesome the more I hear the more I like daaaam this band is the new future of metal 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
'Placenta' is my personal favourite from the EP that they took down once they got picked up by the label to make an actual album. I'd highly recommend you check it out. it's by far the best song of theirs IMO.
I totally, 100% agree with the nu-metal comparison (and I'm so happy because I always have and will love nu-metal) but am I the only one that also hears some Meshuggah influence in the closing breakdown?
Sick track. I don't really care for his distorted singing, but the rapping and screaming are excellent. The music was incredible, too. Never heard of these guys, but I will definitely be checking out some more
Sick part is the drummer is Max Portnoy son of one of the Godliest drummers of all time Mike Portnoy, Max stated in an interview while he takes alot of influence from his dad his biggest metal influences are Joey Jordison and Chris Adler I cannot wait to see him as he grows more and more as he continues to becomes one of metals best drummers as I know he will.
I've been a huge nu metal fan since I was a kid and northlanes latest album ALIEN and tallah are fucking fantastic they really dive into the dark and Tortured soul aspect that drew me in to nu metal in the first place 😁😁
Placenta is actually the next song on the album(after this one). If you listen to them back to back, it transitions into Placenta. It's also a really great song😄
Max portnoy is one hell of a drummer, i dont care who you are, that has to be some of the sickest drumming I've heard in a while, amongst the heavier stuff I listen to there is so much skill and differences from everyone else, I mean obviously Mike being his dad but still. #staysick
Greetings !! React to "omerta-benny boy" ,or any song from their hyperviolence ep. They are the most Slipknot sounding band !!! I mean disasterpiece style slipknot !!!
Slipknot could never produce something even close to that. I can see the idea of slipknot in them but like. Nothing tallah makes is even close to sounding like something slipknot would even think of. Justin takes time with his work.

I was just gonna say, I have MASSIVE Powerman 5000 flashbacks on this one, but this version is heavier!
True the darkness of the first couple of Korn and Slipknot albums were never quite really matched after that by anyone else. This comes pretty freaking close.

Very well said. Basically how I started my journey too

I think this album release deserves an entire front to back album review. That's how much I love this shit.
its like they smashed my childhood together, I even feel some weird shit like muse, mindless self indulgence and marilyn manson in there.
