De warme temperaturen maken dat afgelopen week veel vissen langs zwommen. Waaronder een aantal bijzondere waarnemingen! De paling laat zich veel zien. En ik laat je kennismaken met de aalscholver.

My local river has a "salmon send off" annually to try to help bring salmon back! I got to go release 4 salmon fry ❤ happy fish migration day

Are there any other animal predators that the fish are in danger of during their migration?

A whole list.. cormorant, heron, grebe, king fisher, tern, otter, pike, perch, Walleye, asp, eel, catfish.. and I’m sure I miss a few more. Small fish are an important food source for many species. Which is why the reproduction of fish is so important

Aalscholvers hebben mijn lokale slotenstelsel helemaal leeggegeten. Alles tussen de 10 en de 35cm is helaas weg.
Ik hoop oprecht dat er naast leefgebied toch ook wat decimatie in de populatie aalscholvers.

Zonde hè? Ik woon aan een vaartje met harde beschoeiingen. Regelmatig een aalscholver die hier ‘stofzuigt’. Zelf heb ik nu takken onder mijn steigertje geplaatst en wat planten in de oever gezet. Daar kan die aalscholver mooi niet bij. Structuur werkt echt

Mooi journaal wederom! Vraagje: Hoe werkt de visdeurbel? Lopen er kabels over de sluis? Of is alles draadloos? De camera moet toch stroom en verbinding hebben. Lijkt me interessant dit te weten! Misschien iets voor in het live journaal. Groetjes uit de achterhoek.

Nog bedankt voor je vragen! Zaterdag zenden we live uit vanaf de Weerdsluis en kan ik alles laten zien. Er loopt inderdaad een stroom en internet kabel vanaf de camera naar het sluiswachtershuisje

Yes for sure! Although they seem to eat less when they are migrating. Sometimes you see a big pike and small fish almost at the same time.
For the same reason as the cormorant, small fish need hiding places for pike and perch
