Bro, I fucking lost my Partners in Time chip in my car! I was so angry when I couldn't find it, and I don't even own that car anymore either. I played Partners in Time on my DS emulator back in 2014; dear god, it felt great to be in my own childhood again. I'm gonna buy it by chip this time for my 3DS, since it's compatible. I ALSO lost my Bowser's Inside Story chip in my car. What happened is it got stuck in the seat and it couldn't get out. :( I bought BiS back in June 2016, last year, and I went to go play it again THIS month, in June 2017! I beat it again in about a week. Now, all I need to do is get Partners in Time and I'm back in business. ALTHOUGH, I can't find my Superstar Saga GBA cartridge... And I didn't even lost it in my car, I misplaced it! :(
Movement syncing with the music.. Its amazing enough that you dedicate so much time into doing a whole tas for a game such little things tho really make me smile whenever I see it. Absolutely love it!
2:59:30 "Yeah, the final boss is happening very soon, you might need to save." "Ok." "You must save." "um, ok?" "YOU'LL SAVE RIGHT!?!?" "Okokok I'll do!" *Proceeds to not save*

TAS stands for tool assisted SPEEDRUN, so... Yeah, they aren't the same as human speedruns, but one TAS can still see who's faster against another TAS.
the reason it should be in 60fps is because of the rapidly flashing blocks who thought my DS can do 60fps but my phone can't do 60fps 1:05:33 I:) 3:10:38 WHAY THE FU-
I'll be honest- bros items are super unbalanced. I tried a run using no bros items and no optional fights, and I got stuck on the hammer bros. As a comparison, I did the same with bowser's inside story and got stuck on wisdurm, which is a little more than halfway through the game.
Love_Eater I've also been doing a no optional fight run in BIS and I tell you, fighting Bowser for the second time was really fucking hard! But it is satisfying to level up several times!
How did you assign the inputs for copy flowers, since they were random? Was it some random RNG manipulations that my puny human brain can't comprehend?
Your world record was already beaten for 17 minutes less... Well, There were many glitches and skips found so using math i estimate that you could complete it on maximum 2 hours and 41 minutes...
The stuff outside of battle, or when nothing of particular interest is happening in the overworld could be sped up or edited out. 3 and half hours is quite a lot, especially for such few battles.
Curious to know if anyone's theorycrafted a Stache meta for this game? I know that speedrunning this series relies heavily on only stat-upping power at level up, but I'm wondering if you could increase efficiency by adding Stache every few levels, because the numbers on the bonus wheel increase if you don't always pick the same one. In theory, you could alternate the stats that are increased with Stache, which increases crits, to more efficiently clear the game. More crits, plus the levels that you do add power, in theory, get more power, since the amount of power you roll on the bonus wheel is higher if you don't always pick it
No one's done the math but I've done approximations and it's not worth it at all. 4 extra stache increases the chance of a lucky hit by 1%, which over the long run is equivalent to increasing power by 1%. On the other hand, if you have, say, 50 POW and get +2 POW, that's increasing power by 4%. And you usually have to spend two levelups not upping POW to get a +3 POW. So you're trading off 3 POW for maybe 10 Stache, which only becomes worth it when your POW is already around 100-200, which you don't reach in a speedrun.
In a TAS, lucky hits are easy enough to manipulate for flowers that a small difference in stache is negligible. For copy flowers & red shells, they do so little damage that extra POW is much better than extra stache. The discounts from stache may end up being useful in a TAS, though. Edit: lol, you said non-TAS. In non-TAS, it's still pretty easy to always get +2. I don't think a runner would want to rely on getting good RNG lucky hits to save time even if they were a little bad at timing the wheel.
I think I miswrote that. I meant, in Superstar Saga, where I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) getting the +2 on the bonus wheel is somewhat RNG, as well as accounting for human error in consistently getting the one +2 in a non tool-assisted run, would it be possible that getting the stache is better than a very-likely +1 in pow? Like, get pow until you've got nothing but +1's and +2's on the wheel and then grab a +4 or 5 in stache.
Unfortunately in Superstar Saga, special attacks can never be lucky hits. If you could get lucky special attacks, then it might be worth it to go for some Stache, since the majority of your damage is based on your mushroom count (mush badge) and your POW is not too important. They do get some stache on Luigi to be able to buy more mushrooms (and his POW is completely worthless once you get the mush badge).
I hope someone can answer this because I'm stumped. There were a couple of times in the run where you just let Mario and Luigi die and let the babies finish the fight. Why is that?
It's a lot better because the bros attacks are everywhere, even if you don't buy you will have enough attacks, the need of increasing the tandem points it's much difficult, only a few turns of only bros attacks and no more until you use that thing that increases it. Also, using the 4 buttons isn't that difficult.

Such an empty description for something so amazing. I can't imagine what coding inputs for OVER 3 HOURS OF GAMEPLAY would be like.
Must really feel like an accomplishment when it's finally done.
Looks like I'm not the only one who jumps in sync to the music

RNG manipulation. Read the TASVideos submission for details.

I cannot wait to watch this
This TAS is must watch after watching chuggaaconroy's LP of this game.

This is a great tas this one dose not use the infinite items on bosses that much like other tases.
Daiyousei
Is that the proper plural?
Technically, tass is the plural.
Tas = tool assisted speedrun
Tass = tool assisted speedruns
Tass'. You're talking about multiple tas speedruns, or do is TAS possesive? (As in the TAS Speedruns speed, for instance)
2:02:39 Good parenting.

Does that sound familiar
2:48:03 that double level up
This is amazing. Thank you Chuggaconroy.
this game is underrated...
Hi, I have a question: Why did you stop or something at 1:19:17 ?
I waited there to get good RNG in the Sunnycide battle. I needed him to throw 4 eggs and then get a lucky hit.
HOW FAST CAN U MOVE YOUR FINGERS?
lol, this is tool-assisted.
I can move my fingers fast like that but your faster from what i seen
Chuggaconroy was wrong XD
The Spicy Meme why
Traphat that's true but if you look at the time this was made it's obvious that it was made after he said that.
Traphat oh okay then
TAS stands for tool assisted SPEEDRUN, so... Yeah, they aren't the same as human speedruns, but one TAS can still see who's faster against another TAS.
Is this the PAL version by chance?
Yes it is.
Migu Ah so that's why the HP were lower, thanks!
Actually the lower HP is present in all non-american versions.
3:20:10
that one audio clip of mario saying "BABIES!"
if you look closely, mario and baby mario's heads are detached by one pixel (in battle)
Don't mind those blinking white rectangles with words in them, they only make up 100% of this game's charm
I spent 4 frickin hours for tis fucking shit, but i love the Boss battles,so..........Nice video U.U

Why did you let the adults die during the Shroob Brat fight?
It shortened Brat's attack.

WTF? I'm actually dead at how you can just go so fast with the copy flower and red shell.
Strange Potato its a tas speedrun its not done by a human a machine does pixel perfect presses everytime without fail
he programmed it that way to say it easily
How did you assign the inputs for copy flowers, since they were random? Was it some random RNG manipulations that my puny human brain can't comprehend?
So was that you perfectly mashing the buttons for fireflowers and copy flower and shells? Or did you have the tool assist do that?
This run is completely tool-assisted. That's why the video is labeled [TAS] (tool-assisted speedrun)
1:48:51 was that rng?
GradedAGames yes
Not going to help on speed runs but I found 2 soft locks with the warp pipe before kamic starts the fires
Idk if it's exclusive to that pipe
Your world record was already beaten for 17 minutes less...
Well, There were many glitches and skips found so using math i estimate that you could complete it on maximum 2 hours and 41 minutes...
Yes, you're right. I'm working on a new TAS and hopefully it'll be a lot faster than 2:41 ;P
Migu I wasnt hoping you'd reply to this in minutes, As well take your take :3 i'll be one of the first ones to see it :p
The fucking final boss though...
The stuff outside of battle, or when nothing of particular interest is happening in the overworld could be sped up or edited out. 3 and half hours is quite a lot, especially for such few battles.
Zeldagigafan That would ruin the legitimate nature of the run.

Putting the bottom screen on the top left? Quiet the rebel aren't we?!
How do you manage to get a lucky everytime you damage a boss?
Adaly Debest he can go back into the game and try endlessly to get it
god tier red shells
I hope someone can answer this because I'm stumped. There were a couple of times in the run where you just let Mario and Luigi die and let the babies finish the fight. Why is that?
I think this only happened on shrooboid brat. It's because dying ends the enemy's attack, in that case it was faster.
jeez the text speed
3:08:35 this is my jam
i know this is TAS but i wish i was this good with bros moves
same
wait, 41882 Re-records.
As in 41882 attempts?
Re-records are whenever you load a save-state while making a TAS
Right. Thanks
Any particular reason you let the characters get hit by attacks at times?
Sometimes because it's faster, sometimes it manipulates RNG
Fun fact, you can skip to gritzy desert immediately
I think partners in time is the hardest Mario and Luigi game since you had limited bros attacks and had to use all 4 buttons.
It's a lot better because the bros attacks are everywhere, even if you don't buy you will have enough attacks, the need of increasing the tandem points it's much difficult, only a few turns of only bros attacks and no more until you use that thing that increases it. Also, using the 4 buttons isn't that difficult.
Dang copy flowers chEEEEEl
1:45:50 why didnt you move out the way?
I needed to get the adults to less than 1/4 HP to increase their damage in the Petey Piranha fight since they were wearing dire-POW badges.
oh ok (i replied late cause i didnt get notified)
Bcs he's so lazy to move out the way
i think this game took a few steps backwards from super star saga
