Al Mawardi's theory of Imamat also known has Al Mawardi's theory of Caliphate, Al Mawardi's theory of kingship, Al Mawardi's theory of Khilafat is one of the most important theories among all political thoughts of the said jurist. He video explains in detail the history of Caliphate, forms of government told by Muslim political philosopher Al Mawardi, and his theory of Imamat.

Thank you for this positive note. We value your positive feedback. The question you've raised is quite valid.
The principle of election is explicitly affirmed in the case of a caliph who chooses two heirs without assigning priority to one ofthem. After his death the electors must exercise their prerogative and choose one of them; as historical precedent Caliph 'Omar's charge to the companions to elect a successor is again quoted. We see from this example that Caliph 'Omar's action can be used for both types,election and designation, although in the latter case the choice between more than one candidate is left undecided. It seems that Al-Mawardi favoured election proper.The electors can act only after the caliph's death. During his lifetime his authorization is required unless he is no longer ineffective control. In this case a situation has arisen which is equivalent to his death.
